Stayed here for a week. I'll start with good stuff: 1. Close proximity to the interstate and Eau Claire. 2. Nice staff and lobby area. 3. Parking lot had ample parking. The in-between stuff: 1. Pool was small and heavily chlorinated. 2. Breakfast bar was ok, the staff were nice, but food was just meh. The bad stuff: 1. The housekeeping staff never vacuumed, made our beds, or changed our linen the entire stay. 2. I had to exchange towels almost everyday, or ask the front desk to have them replaced. 3. The bathroom smelled moldy and was dirty (see photos). 4. The room was two queen beds and small. The window would not open and the room airflow was not good. 5. Over the weekend, it was pretty noisy, with kids running around yelling. Overall, I removed one star for the lack of housekeeping, one star for the dirty bathroom and one star for the overall "meh" experience (stay). I realize that the Best Western Hotels are independently owned, but this hotel was not up to standard, so for the price I paid, I was not impressed. They can and should do better! read more

How fun are these guys?!?! Everyone loved the ducks left at the tubs, staff & the vip parking was a first for us... or maybe we just never noticed... Whatever the case, everyone (3rooms) said they were happy with their stay. The rooms were clean and as expected. Breakfast was hot & the eggs were real (hard to find in a budget stay). I attended a craft retreat at Best Western Plus in Eau Claire WI this weekend. I was impressed with the facility as well as the friendly and helpful staff. A special shoutout to KP, the front desk clerk and to the woman who served as bartender/waitress/cook and did all three jobs at once. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I normally hesitate from reviewing hotels because things can be so subjective and so very much specific to the room and the time of year. That being said....I really feel that this hotel needs the kudos it deserves. I was traveling during the covid pandemic and I was really concerned. Trying to find the right hotel had been a bit of a struggle. I found this one as I was making my way through the beautiful Wisconsin countryside. I was intending to only travel during the day. Check in was friendly and quick. I headed up to my room to drop off the first set of my bags and right when I went in I noticed that he room smelled like smoke. This is my one "drama" issue that I just can't handle smoke anymore. I went down and apologetically asked for a different room. The guy behind the counter apologized profusely and quickly gave me a new room and said to come back down if this one presented a problem. It didn't. In fact he kindly had moved me closer to the staircase which had come up that I don't like using the elevators during the pandemic. The room was nice and clean and the food the next morning got me through to lunch in Minneapolis. I would definitely stay here again if I had the reason to be in Eau Claire again. read more

Service is friendly!! The morning breakfast is very decent. I loved the farm fresh yogurt machine with fresh blueberries. Breakfast meats, eggs, biscuits and gravy, omelets, 4 types of cereal, waffles, oatmeal, pastries, coffee, juices and so much more!. The hot tub was decent as was the pool. Our king suite was very large at almost 350 square feet. Separate living room with TV and bedroom with a TV also. VERY roomy. They added things like a rubber ducky for the bathtub. I would first like to start by saying the front desk staff is absolutely incredible. The bartender is absolutely amazing, and the front desk staff deserves a raise. I had to contact police due to a separate situation because of a missing person, and as opposed to helping, the hotel owners told me that they were shortening my stay and we wouldn't get a refund. when asked to speak to management, they fabricated stories about what happened the night before, refused to speak with me about it, and aggressively kicked us out as we were leaving. while the staff is incredible, I will not be returning to this hotel. other than that, beautiful rooms, incredible pool and hot tub, breakfast is A1. read more

Stayed for a girls weekend getaway! There were some concerns but overall would recommend. The cleanliness was subpar - upon moving the end table for a game of cards, we were greeted with some old dog food, pet toys, and a tube of mascara. When opening the end table for some storage, we were surprised to see a previous guests vibrator and bottle of lubricant...... a comedic find for sure, which we properly disposed of..... The beds were comfy and fresh, which is truly what what was needed. The bathroom was clean and the hygiene products met basic needs. There was a nice request form for housekeeping requests each day, which they did indeed complete. Front desk staff were pleasant and accommodating. The hotel as a whole could better-enforce their rules. Kids running around and screaming at all hours, as there was a wedding party/event at the time of our stay. A million kids in the pool and hot tub often not looked after by parents as well as occupying the space during kid-free hours. Our group had waited through the evening hours to go to the pool area but the chaos never seemed to commence. We tried to let them have their fun, but at a certain point we were ready for our own time at the pool without having kids canon-balling or screaming Marco Polo. The continental breakfast was 5/5 stars. Specialty coffees, sparkling water machine, hot food and a waffle maker. The staff tried to keep up with fresh food and cleanliness as the chaos ran through, a valid effort indeed. Overall would stay again, and hope for better behaved guests - tried to rate the stay focusing on the amenities alone. read more

We made our journey here for the Blue Ox.*. (*Not an actual blue ox. ) It was a scorching hot humid day, so hot you could fry an egg on the hood of our Honda*. (* this has not been verified ). We crossed state lines in our quest for the fest. At last we arrived in beautiful Eau Claire. So we ended up booking this place. It wasn't terrible. Could it use updating? Cozy, Clean, Convenient & Good Prices! Just what I needed after driving from Michigan, a cozy bed in a clean room to pass out with my A$$ Out for a few hours to recharge my batteries! Jose checked us in and was friendly. There was even a little rubber duck waiting in the room for my son! Real eggs for breakfast too! Overall, it was a comfortable stay with minimal extraneous noise. There's free breakfast before 8AM on weekdays and before 9:30AM on weekends. The wifi is password protected but is also free, but it takes a while to connect properly. There's also the standard amenities including shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, bar soap, face soap, mouth wash and two makeup remover wipes. We stayed at this Best Western location in Eau Claire, WI last night based on its location to a friend's wedding and on route to Mall of America the following day for a mini road trip. When we first checked into the hotel, I noticed there was a strong unpleasant odor in the hallway and was worried that the room would also smell awful. Surprisingly, the rooms itself was nicely clean and lightly scented more pleasantly. The next few things we noticed in the bathroom was a cute rubber ducky sitting on top of the bathtub, and the well stocked bathroom amenities mentioned earlier. Then we noticed that there was a small chip on the toilet seat which isn't a big deal breaker but it would nice if the hotel would have that replaced with a new toilet seat. Lastly, the window shades did not fully close, so this was a source of frustration for a good night sleep with the parking lot shining into the room. Aside from the minor issues of the toilet seat and the window shades, as well as the hallway scent are all room of improvements for the hotel to work on improving. Not sure if I would make a trip back specifically to stay at this hotel but for the one night accommodations, I managed to get a restful, relaxing stay. Of all the $180 (room plus tax) hotels I have stayed in, this ranks among the worst. The room was fine for a lower rent hotel, nothing luxurious. But the worst part was that our bathtub/shower was clogged and would not drain. Reported this to the gentleman on duty as we were checking out and was told that was too bad, they would fix it. No hint of apology or effort to make it right (even a $50 flea bit motel would have had drains that worked). Soured a weekend trip and wouldn't stay here again. read more

If you want rest don't stay here. If you want to hear a lot of noise and people partying, this is the place to stay. I had to get up at 5am and people were screaming at 9:30pm I could hear their conversation's as if they were in room 119. I called the front desk and they person said, "I will try to get them to be a little less noisy." (Good luck with that) at 10:30 they were still screaming. So, I was lucking enough to finally fall asleep by 11pm. So, I beg you not to stay at the party hotel if you want a good night sleep. read more

In town on business and I was extremely frustrated with what turned into a logistical nightmare. The staff, led by Connor, who is hands down the best guest services manager I have ever run across in all of my travels, really became a source of comfort and ease with our entire group. He should be the standard bearer for ANY business that deals with the public. So to explain..the facility...3 stars nice and clean no frills. But Connor is so off the charts it would be a disservice not to give this place 5 stars because that's how you are treated. read more

I immediately left my room asking to be placed in another but was told they were totally sold out. to be completely honest I don't typically review a lot of places so for me to do this it has to be pretty spectacular. Earlier today I had car issues and I had to park in Best Western Plus parking lot. I know most places have strict policies about only guest parking in them so I was in more than a bit of a hurry late for a trip to Alabama. I had to leave my car there and call on the way. I talked to one of the nicest lady (Joslyn). she is the manager and I am really only shouting out of her. at this point she set my mind it ease. I offered to pay to let me park there for a couple days. and yes they do have a strict policy against it but she went above and beyond and told me I did not have to pay and she would personally look after my vehicle. I can't thank her enough for being so wonderful. I was so stressed out and by the time I got off the phone I was actually laughing and in such a good mood. thank you JOSLYN so much for being such a great person today. read more

I was very ddisappointed,the whirlpool had soap scum ring around the whirlpool.(not left over cleaning products)I immediately asked the desk clerk to please come and see.the desk clerk gave me Spic and Span to clean the soap scum.How unprofessional that I was given the cleaning products.I have 14 years behind me in the hospitality industry.No guest should be allowed to clean the whirlpool.Clean whirlpools should be smooth like glass when hands are running across it. The bill was reduced by 60.00.instead of comping rooms Head housekeeper and manager need to do retraining. For the manager to say its left over cleaning product is a lie.I have never seen a cleaning product that is brown like dirt.None of whirlpools I have ever cleaned have Brown ring of "left over cleaning product" If they say its left over cleaning product why was it clean after I used their Spic and span? read more

I stayed at this property for two nights while in the area on business and I was blown away with how great it was. The room had been renovated and it was very well decorated. I look for two things when I stay in a hotel...a comfortable bed and a great shower. This property didn't disappoint. The hotel also offers breakfast, but I didn't get the chance to try it. The next time I'm in the Eau Claire area, this will be my choice for a hotel! read more

I stay in Eau Claire once a weekend every year for basketball tournaments, this year we stayed at Best Western Plus. I'd like to give it two stars based on my stay, but I gave it three because of the friendliness of the staff I encountered. After checking in and receiving two room keys, we made our way to the second floor and found that neither of our keys worked. The front desk gave us new keys that they opened in front of us and we found those to work. The room, which we upgraded to a king suite with a whirlpool, seemed very neat and clean upon first inspection. The bathroom was clean, the living room area was clean, it was when we got to the bedroom we noticed small things. First, the runner on the bed appeared to have been soiled, as though someone spilled something and staff never changed or cleaned it. Second, after checking behind a night stand, I found a pair of used ear plugs on the floor. Third, the remotes, which are supposed to be "fresh" cleaned, and in packing for new guests, was not in the packaging, but sitting next to it. We also took note that our mirrors were dirty and the central air machine appeared to have a broken panel and did not blow hot air, only cool. The front desk doesn't answer when rung, I could only speak to someone if I physically went downstairs. There were also a handful of spelling errors in the guest book, and also on the welcome cards left in the room, not very professional. The TV channel guide was illegible and again, very unprofessional to have that in all rooms of this hotel. During our stay we opted to use a side entrance instead of the main entrance as it was closer to our room, but again, found the key cards didn't work to open the door. The "bar/restaurant" was the size of a bathroom and had a strange smell. We left before we even sat down, and they do not have room service. The breakfast was good when we finally got it, staff was not fast or accommodating to the large number of guests in the dining area, wait times for food being so long we almost went to a restaurant. All that being said, I wouldn't stay here again for $127 a night. read more

Our host Brianna was very disrespectful of addressing conflict. She decided to yell at us while we were in the parking area for complaints that we did not know about until that time(10:00pm). As an average human being, we respect people who treat others how they want to be treated. There forever, we would have immediately stopped talking and playing music outside as soon as the complaint/problems came in. As a person, we wouldn't know there's a problem unless someone tells us. I spent the night here before a training and OMG! this place was wonderful. Staff was helpful, friendly & attentive. Room was clean, slightly dated wall coverings, but lovely finishes in the bathroom. Pool area clean and inviting. And the restaurant - SO GOOD! Front desk clerk recommended I eat here vs travel in to town and boy am I glad I did. I had the grilled salmon with steamed veggies and garden salad. Started with a simple but beautiful salad, had tri color peppers, black olives amongst the regular greens. Black olives are now going to be on all my salads going forward. The salmon was decent (we are in WI) but the veggies - yellow summer squash, broccoli, green beans & red peppers - steamed to perfection and so tasty. read more

Here is the breakdown : Location is a bit out of town and there aren't any attractions near the hotel. Be prepared to order food in, or drive to other hotels' restaurants. The highway noise is constant with jake braking - but, hey, the management does leave you two pair of ear plugs with a note saying that it's too bad life doesn't have mute button (insert knee slapping hardy har here). Thin walls are always a disappointment especially when one spends 150$+ for a room. Noise: YES. Pet friendly and people let there dogs bark - the joy for the rest of us. And, you can hear next door and the hallway noise. Cleanliness was pretty good. The hotel has a smoky/ musty smell in some hallways, but the rooms seemed OK. The beds are amazingly comfortable and piled with pillows. I loved the extra TV in the bedroom as well. The entire hotel seems a bit worn and old, but not dirty. Whirlpool suite value: meh. Not so hot. Small tub for two athletic people. Though a rubber duck in the bathroom was a cutesy touch. There was however a weird photocopy of a notice apologizing for the ongoing construction, I never saw construction, but found the note itself tacky and the delivery method poor business. I would expect to be told upon check in about such issues. Customer Service: The front desk check in was OK, but some other employee who wasn't a desk worker was standing behind the desk looking at my I.D., credit cards and paperwork. It bothered me that the front desk employee didn't intervene to at least appear to protect my privacy. Why does the cleaning staff need to look at the back of my credit card? Weird and disconcerting. I will be watching my card closely. Continental Breakfast: YIKES. Best just grab a banana and orange juice. The hot food was inedible. Cardboard eggs and half cold gristly sausage. read more

Every time we travel from North Dakota to Michigan we stay at the Best Western Plus Trail Lodge Hotel & Suites. I have never had a bad experience at this hotel. We bring our 2 dogs with us when we travel, a golden retriever and a pit bull mix and they have never given us a problem with them. There is a $20 pet charge but its worth it. The rooms are always very clean. We always get upgraded to king suites which are very spacious. The beds are comfortable. The staff is always very nice and helpful. I like the location. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone needing to stay in the city of Eau Claire, WI. read more

My husband and i were on our way to visit family in Minnesota from Indiana. We had car trouble along the way and had to stop for the night. I found this Best Western via google but was pleased to find with my AAA membership, the rate was even less than what google said. The guy at the desk was wonderful. Funny, engaging, and very helpful. They were having a wedding that evening but he still found us a room on the top floor away from any noise. He offered any tools and equipment they had for us to use to fix the problem with our car. He even offered some gojo to help us clean up. I feel bad I can't recall his name, because he remembered mine and welcomed us back by name when we returned from fixing the car. A genuine smile and kindness when it was sorely needed. The room was nicely clean, the fridge was ready for food, the breakfast was good and they also had a bar in the evening. Everything we needed with some extra compassion tossed on top. I highly recommend this hotel. Some of the best service I've had in years. read more

The Best Western Plus in Eau Claire was one of the most conveniently located and friendly hotels we've stayed in. The staff was phenomenal! We were within 5 miles from a wide selection of restaurants, the mall and movie theaters! Huge non-smoking rooms with insanely soft queen beds, a fridge, microwave, and anything else you could possibly need! After a wonderful night of rest, we woke up to feast of a breakfast that included fresh made eggs, sausage and waffles! I can tell you we'll definitely be back next time we are in Eau Claire.
