Cut like butter. Wife had pickerel. Perfect. Prepared without garlic specially for her as she's allergic. Only negative was the salt was a bit overpowering. The bottle of wine was delicious Col di Sasso. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Hotel is in a very convenient location within walking distance of the shopping. Hotel very neat. TL;DR/The Short Version: The only big chain hotel in Perth, ON. It ranks towards the middle of the pack in comparison to other Best Westerns, in my opinion. The Long Version: My husband and I were staying a night in Perth, Ontario and stayed at this Best Western. There was a wedding going on that weekend (not the reason we were there), so it was quite busy. They have a small parking lot that's broken up into 3 different areas. We lucked out and found a parking spot, but it was really crowded and due to it being winter with snow on the ground covering the painted lines and some snow banks, some spots were not available and people were parked not as neatly as they could have. When we booked, there was only one room left, the accessible room, so we took it, even though we didn't need an accessible room. When we arrived we told the front desk the story and advised them that if they needed the accessible room for someone else, we could take a different room. They said they didn't need it, but the room is next to the kitchen so if we weren't part of the wedding, they'd move us because it will be loud with lots of traffic. Apparently they had a cancellation so they moved us. I appreciated this. We did end up getting 2 queen beds instead of a king bed, which was ok, we didn't use the second bed and just had to snuggle closer on the first bed, haha. We did get there a bit early and they said they could check us in but there would be a $25 early check-in fee, so we said we'd be back and check in at the regular time. When we returned a bit before 5pm check-in went smoothly. Staff were pleasant. The room itself looked nice and was spacious. The first thing I noticed was they fold towels into cute shapes and place them on the bed. We had 2 different swans. They still have miniature toiletries which I prefer over the wall-mounted toiletries that so many hotels have switched over to. I find the minis more sanitary and minis are just so cute, lol. The body lotion wasn't the best quality though. It was winter and my hands were dry like sandpaper and the lotion did not keep my hands moisturized. So anyone who knows me, knows I Clorox all hard surfaces in hotel rooms as soon as I arrive (something I've been doing for the past 20 years, lol). The cleaning in the bathroom wasn't as thorough as I would have liked because when I wiped the sink counter with a Clorox wipe, all these short gray hairs ended up on the wipe. Looked like the previous guest trimmed their beard or cut their hair or something. The counter had that dark granite appearance, so it was hard to see the hair. I actually didn't even see it looking at the counter, but definitely saw it when my Clorox wipe picked it all up. The underside of the towel rack was also rusted and turned my Clorox wipe all brown. I did like that the room was large. I also liked that the towels were not too close to the toilet, although they were over the toilet, which is not my preferred placement (but at least not literally an inch from the top of the toilet like I've seen at other hotels, yuck). I liked that the bathroom had a magnifying mirror that pulled out from the wall. Very useful for applying makeup. The bathroom was also well-lit. The sink, while pretty was a bit inconvenient because the faucet spout didn't come out enough to the centre of the basin. The faucet was too close to the wall and the counter stuck out of the wall a lot, so you have to lean really forward to get your hands under the faucet, but you can't stand closer because the counter is in the way. Maybe it was just our room. At first I thought it was just me because I'm short with short arms, but my husband is 5'11" (with arms proportional to his height) and he had the same complaint, lol. I like that they had both a fridge and a microwave. The mini fridge however, did not have a freezer section. I liked that the beds were raised. There's a coffee machine that makes Van Houtte coffee and hot chocolate in the lobby (no French Vanilla drinks though, which is my favourite from these types of machines). There's also a good selection of Higgins and Burke, and President's Choice teas. These drinks are complimentary for guests. You get complimentary breakfast at their restaurants The Locks with your stay. Breakfast is 7am-10am and it's not a buffet, you order from a limited menu. Breakfast was ok, nothing too memorable. We both had bacon and eggs which came with home fries and toast. They also have a pool, sauna and fitness centre, none of which we used. Overall, an alright stay. We would stay again. Excellent service, cost effective, clean accommodations and great location. We will be back. Having no carpet in the rooms is a huge plus for us!! You can walk to many downtown restaurants, the property is very pretty, free breakfast and a nice indoor salt water pool. I'll preface this review by mentioning that we did have a free night stay from accumulated points so we didn't pay anything for our night stay. We came here on a little staycation for 1 night away. Check in was relatively simple but they did need either a printed version of our confirmation or emailed version and would not accept simply taking a look at our phone. Parking included in your stay We stayed in a King room with jetted tub which retails for 209$+tax nightly. The room was on the second floor with large windows and tons of space. It was spotless and obviously recently renovated. Large couch, two side chairs, fridge, large bathroom with heated floors and ample closet space. There was a keurig coffee machine in the room as well as your standard blow dryer and basic shower soaps/shampoos. The jetted tub and heated bathroom floors felt pretty luxurious for a Best Western. We also enjoyed the indoor pool, hot tub and sauna as well as a small to medium-sized gym. Stays here come with a free breakfast that was a sit-down meal with a few options. My husband and I called for a reservation for dinner, celebrating 28 years. I called on a Saturday morning and was told there were no availabilities between 5:30-8 pm so I asked for a 5pm dinner and was told that would work. The waitress was nice and took our order promptly. I had salmon and my husband ordered steak frites medium well. The salmon was very good but the steak was underdone so we sent it to be cooked more. We decided to share a dessert, which was very good(salted toffee caramel cake) We finished and waited for a bill and finally got up to leave before a bill was given and we noticed the restaurant was not busy at all so not sure why I was told there was no availability. We had been there from 5-7:30 and it was never full and never had someone waiting for the seat we were in. read more

First I have to say the front desk staff was was very welcoming when we arrived. Room was relatively clean. Left the hotel to grab some dinner and when I returned my prescription glasses case that was on the table was filled with ants. Didn't think too much about it but when I woke the next morning my purse that was sitting on the table was filled with ants. And I mean filled. They were everywhere in the room. Tried having a bath in the Whirlpool bath tub, turned the jets on and debris came pouring out. Drain the tub and tried again. It was fine for about 5 minutes into the bath then debris started coming out of the jets again. Very disappointed after spending close to $200 for a room. read more

Be very careful at the Spa here. I had a massage on August 20, 2019 from Chrystal and was so sore that I was in tears for a week afterwards. I called her after day 3 and she blew me off and said the pain would go away. Fast forward 3 weeks and I am still very stiff and sore with limited range of motion. She really hurt me and was not willing to take responsibility for it nor did she call me to see if I had improved. I have been getting massages for over 20 years and never had anyone injure me the way she did or refuse to take responsibility. I am so concerned I am going to see a doctor. read more

a diamond in the rough. old town, new hotel. it was just a great stay there. i would book there again in a heartbeat. everything was great. food in the morning was a hit. pool area was great, except just put towels in the area and a laundry basket. how many people have to go to the spa to ask for towels is probably overwhelming. otherwise it was top rated other than butler service. read more
