I had an issue that I couldnt resolve with the hospital. The administrator actually called me to discuss it with me. He was very understanding and listened to what I had to say. It is a wonderful location. I was with a group and we all had great views of the st Lawrence river. The staff is very attentive and responsive. And it was so quiet. It is rustic, but again they are very accommodating if you need anything. read more

Our two night stay at Edgewood Resort was above and beyond. The staff was extremely accommodating, providing us with anything we requested. Brandy and John were the two that we dealt with for our stay. The room we requested was a river view with a king bed. The floors were hardwood in the room, plenty of lighting available, a mini fridge, ceiling fan and air conditioning. We spent some time on the balcony with a few drinks just enjoying the perfect evenings. Although some may consider the room to be a tad bit high, we found the whole experience to be well worth every penny. read more

Looking at reviews I feel like the odd one out. My family has been coming here to eat for years, we have a cottage in Clayton and this is my step father's preferred restaurant when there. I go along for the free meal but I always leave disappointed. This time I came with my children so naturally ordered off the kids menu for them which is a hand written menu, each item $15. The Mac n cheese portion was ridiculously huge, 3 adults if not 4 could split it. Not sure why they don't just charge less and give a child's size portion. Plus children are notoriously picky so why not make basic simple Mac n cheese, not it's covered and mixed with breadcrumbs and parsley all over the place. Needless to say it wasn't eaten. My fish (the haddock) was sweet? I've never had a sweet fish before and while it wasn't disgusting it wasn't good and would not order again. I was given the wrong wine the first time around, I thought I ordered it wrong but then I asked for something different for my 2nd glass and she told me what I given I knew it's not what I ordered. Then the place is not being kept up or maybe in the middle of summer they decided to do the maintenance that makes more sense to do during off season? The walk to docks and patio in front of the restaurant has weeds that are 3ft tall, completely overgrown and patio has cones on it and scattered beer cups. Honestly no where for a decent wedding photo along the water without photo shopping. Does the place have water views sure, maybe the newer side not near the restaurant is nice. read more

Upon entering the lobby, you are greeted by a gracious owner Gineane along with the front desk staff, Pat and Chris. Our server Charles and family were very attentive and accommodating. Dinner the first night was excellent, savory and plentiful. We had 22 people in our party and stayed the better part of a week. Very clean rooms, and pool area is well maintained. Facilities are being renovated as expected for a century plus estate. Grounds are neat and clean. Rates are reasonable and affordable. We rented 2 pontoon boats from a nearby marina and docked at the resort. Hi water levels in recent years took a toll on some of the docks and repairs should be on the upcoming todo list. All in all a great venue, we spent every night under a pagoda with a Gas-fired pit. Beautifully carved wood bench added to the ambiance along with other bear carvings and a real stuffed bear in the lobby. We highly recommend this facility for a family retreat. As always, everything was perfect! Starting with the refreshing smell of cinnamon as you walk thru the door, topped with elegant lighting and a warm and friendly greeting from the front desk. We received a private window seat where our server, Holly, greeted us like we were her only table in the room. Bubbly, knowledge and very attentive. We started with a bottle of sauvignon blanc & steamed clams provencal (absolutely perfect)! I ordered the special which was a seafood alfredo over linguini with very large, succulent shrimp & scallops and he ordered the prime rib dinner which was cooked perfectly (MR) and very large portions. Their complimentary garlic cheese bread is amazing. We ended with the owners homemade pumpkin pie & crem brulee... Overall, excellent food, excellent staff/service & the ambience makes you feel like you are with your whole family eating together, laughing and eating grandma's homemade dishes... Is this a 5 star resort chocked full of over the top luxury? No. This is a family run business with personal touches I haven't seen in the hospitality industry in a long time. From the owner Janine to her Italian mother and son, this place excels in honest American hard work and pride. I was floored with what I experienced. I was here for a conference this past week. There were 250+ attendees. They pulled it off perfectly. Check in wasn't perfect but as I watched the owner interact with her guests I was really impressed with their can do attitude. This is a huge complex with multiple buildings from rustic and Adirondack style to suites and a house with rooms with granite countertops and kitchenettes. The banquet food was hot, plentiful and tasty. They really moved our group through. While everything wasn't homemade they paid attention to quality and the staff was warm and welcoming. I've stayed at hotels around the world, and this resort is by far the worst I've stayed at. My fiance and I were staying at the hotel with my brother and his girlfriend, who happened to be docking their boat at the resort. We had requested two king-bed rooms to be next to one another and this was not granted. When bringing this to the resort owner's attention, my fiance and me were upgraded without an additional charge. Despite this upgrade, the room was not satisfactory. The bed was as hard as a rock, the pillows were flimsy and uncomfortable, and the towels were old, thin, and dingy - I wouldn't use those towels to wash my car! Moreover, our room was on the bottom level so it was loud when other guests were staying above us. We heard the guests walking above us non stop. This is not simply unacceptable when paying $750 for four nights. I understand that this is the busy season for towns along the St. Lawrence River and that most resorts charge more when their rooms look out over the river. Regardless, the room amenities must match the price. And the price for this place on weekend nights is comparable to decent hotels in major European cities. The view is the only thing going for this resort; it is the only positive thing I can say about it. I brought this concerns up to the hotel manager/owner, Janine, and she was very defensive and flat-out rude. She told me that I should have brought these issues to her attention the day I checked in and that I should have simply stayed at another hotel. That's easier said than done during the middle of summer in a small town like Alexandria Bay. And that is difficult when my brother was staying there as well with his boat being tied up at their dock. Janine said she would not do a thing for me and she in no way wanted to listen to my feedback. Rather that my thoughts on the beds, pillows, and towels were my opinion, and that other guests have been satisfied with those amenities. I'll leave it to you to decide that, but I wouldn't risk an uncomfortable night's stay. If I were to do it over again, I would have rented a cottage or stayed at the Riveredge Resort. read more

I had a great room with a wonderful view. The staff was courteous and the room was clean. They do have cable though fuzzy. On the negative end the bartender made the most awful mixed drink and the buffet was pretty much room temp. But overall it is clean,safe, and not worn down. read more

My husband and I stayed two nights arriving on Wednesday and left on Friday. We had a water view room, and we absolutely loved it. The room was meticulously cleaned, and the bathroom was spotless. The grounds are very well manicured, and the buildings are beautiful. The pool was really nice, and we used it both days we were there. The staff at the front desk were great. This is probably the nicest resort in the area. The restaurant: Oscars, has an outstanding view better than any other in A-Bay, Clayton or Cape Vincent. The food is very good with special buffets on Fri Nd Sat eves. The conference areas are huge, well equipped, which all enjoy the best of all views. read more

My husband and I were searching for a place to stay near Boldt castle. I finally went to Alexandria Bay's Chamber of Commerce website and discovered the name of this quaint resort. Knowing too often " resorts" along docks are run down, I was pleased to see the comments of other yelp users who helped me steer in this direction. Calling the receptionist was helpful as she said since it was Monday there were plenty of rooms and I could preview them before committing to one. On arrival David did exactly that. We chose one of the remodeled ones with a dock view. We would have been pleased with the ones without a view as it was fun to walk the grounds. The restaurant was not open but Alexandria Bay offered many intriguing dining avenues. Glad we found this little jewel, a family run business brought by them from a late 1800's retreat into the 21st century. Very nice accommodations-our unit looked directly over the river with a view of Boldt Castle. The room was spacious and seemed freshly painted, nice balcony! The bathroom had a great walk-in shower, but towels were skimpy and minimal. I missed having a refrigerator/microwave, but didn't really expect it in a resort setting. Father's Day weekend 2017. Mixed review. This year the St. Lawrence river has very high water. I wouldn't call it flooding. The water is just higher than anyone has ever seen it. The effect is hurting the economy. As a result of the "flooding" and that incorrect verbiage, tourism is suffering. The high water did not stop us from visiting. Our arrival at Edgewood started well enough. We were upgraded to a waterfront room. Not sure why but a very nice perk. The first couple of days went smoothly enough with one minor incident I 'll reserve. We were accommodated. Thank you! Today was different. It seems you can't ask a question at the front desk and receive a polite response. Don't bother asking about the Edgewood's breakfast buffet that's advertised on the website. Whether you're a returning customer staying at the "resort" or not, 2017's high water seems to have taken it's toll. I'd like to call one of two people out but I won't because it's not really business as usual due to the high water, I guess. You used to be able to get breakfast here on the weekend. I recommend a thick skin if you don't like the answers to reasonable or stupid questions. The Edgewood is nice. Gorgeous views from the waterfront,the rooms are decent, and the majority of the staff are polite/professional but forget about dining here for the foreseeable future. read more
