Hampton Inn West Springfield - Guest room

You can tell this is an older hotel by the wear on the furniture and the style of the doors and…read moreelevators. Unless you're already familiar with the area, navigating to the hotel and around the parking lot takes a little getting used to. The room and bed were comfortable, though light does come in above and below the door, and around the cloth shade. There was evidently also a dog show of some sort in the area this weekend, with several dogs and their humans staying at the hotel, and I could hear barking from in my room from some other rooms, and also outside (from up on the 4th floor). But all of this is compensated by a good team of employees who keep the hotel very clean and organized. The star of this particular hotel is the breakfast, one of the nicer breakfasts I've had at a Hampton Inn in some time. It included 2 different types of waffle batter, and two different sized waffle griddles (1 large or 4 small). Hot food included pre-made cheese omelets, chicken sausage patties (not greasy!!), biscuits and gravy, and oatmeal. Several types of cereals and muffins were available, and fruit bowls were set up all over the food area and on some of the side tables, including apples, bananas, and mandarin oranges. The coffee station included a large assortment of teas as well. This was not my initial hotel of choice for the weekend, I was actually looking at another Hampton Inn in the area, one at which I'd previously stayed. But it was sold out when I tried to book a room, and later, when rooms were once again available, they were significantly more expensive than rooms here. So this Hampton gets the thumbs up for the price and the breakfast.

Our room had a king sized bed and a sleeper sofa. We only used the bed and it was comfortable with enough pillows. Our room was clean and quiet, and the AC worked great. The complimentary breakfast was a standout here. the two waffle makers with toppings such as caramel, strawberry syrup, chocolate syrup, maple syrup, chocolate chips and whipped cream were awesome! In addition, there were omelets, sausage, oatmeal, cold cereals, a variety of breads and muffins, and fresh fruit. Coffee, tea, juices, and milk were also included. I would definitely stay here again on our next visit to the Springfield area.

The free breakfast is meh quality but hey, it's nice to have someone else cook for you regardless. There's a pool too that my kiddo enjoyed. The hotel is 2 minutes from Holyoke mall that includes a Target. We got a frozen skillet meal from Target to make for dinner our first night there. I would stay here again and recommend it to others. Edited to add: As of August 2022 the staff was not masking, nor were masks required in any area of the hotel. The guests were mixed on masking. Many with N95 masks and taking breakfast to go to eat in their rooms mixed with guests not masking or distancing.

I had a serious unresolved booking problem there for my intended stay August 9-12, 2024. At check-in I was told, in sequence, "4 rooms left," then "2 rooms left," and finally "no rooms left" for any part of my intended stay. The sequence of having been told 4, then 2, then no rooms left was especially frustrating and seemed to me retaliatory for my mild expression of dismay, consternation, and frustration. My daughters and I arrived late from Logan Airport due to Debby weather, delayed rental car, and rain on the turnpike. We were attending my parents' funeral on the 10th. I understand that all people aren't going to be best friends; however, this night manager showed zero empathy. And worse, with the cockamamie room "countdown," I felt the manager exhibited personal animus. We stayed at an alternative--a nearby Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott--which we booked ourselves. Even so, on August 12, I received from Homewood Suites by Hilton an invoice and a paid receipt for all nights of the stay, August 9, 10, and 11. The only time spent at Homewood Suites by Hilton was in the lobby at 4 a.m. with the vindictive night manager counting down "4 rooms left," then "2 rooms left," and finally "no rooms left."

We already booked a room at a different location before we knew the MGM was there. We utilized our MGM cards (MGM really supports Veterans) for parking (did not have too as it was free-LOL). We parked, toured the casino, grabbed a sandwich and took advantage of the clean restrooms. We were at the Riverside park when it started sprinkling, so went back to parking garage. We found out they had a free party going upper level of garage with a cover band. We listened to the band, grabbed some food hot off the grill for a reasonable price and prepared to view the fireworks from the cover of the garage. Mother -Nature had other plans, weather turned nasty, band shut-down, and for safety we were moved to lower levels. We still saw the fireworks and exiting afterwards was not terrible. The Staff from Security to Food Venders were polite and helpful the whole evening. They saved our families 4th of July in Springfield.

This was confirmed when I heard them talking about how much money each of them would make off of it in the elevator. I have been to many casinos including MGM and even though casinos probably have drug deals - they are by people smart enough to be discreet and not talk about it in the hallways and elevators. Not here! Springfield has a lot of Violence and drug activity and I am surprised that MGM built a casino there. They should have kept their brand at Foxwoods. Inside the casino the layout is pretty tight, slot machines are very close together. We didn't try any restaurants because we had just come from dinner. We didn't stay long - didn't like the vibe. Most likey won't go back. Seriously - sketchy. Other reviewers are right.

This year we stayed in Morts Library. It has a huge king size bed with very cozy bedding. Lots of pillows too. A second twin bed if you are traveling with an extra person. There's a Victorian desk and awesome matching end tables, along with Tiffany lamps, ceiling fans above both beds which are awesome when it's 80 degrees. There's a window air conditioner which you can program yourself. Also 2 overstuffed arm chairs to hang out in. While watching a very large flat screen television. Her bathrooms are huge all totally redone. This one we especially liked the base of the sink was a stand from a vintage treadle sewing machine. Plenty of hot water and some really nice smelling shampoo, conditioner, and body wash all in large pump bottles. You can help yourself to whatever you need. Lots of clean fluffy towels too. Breakfast is served between 830 and 930 in this what I can only describe as a magical dining room where you sit around a large piano, you have access to two or three types of juice which you can pour into beautiful crystal glasses. There are carafes of hot coffee, and you have a variety of unusual mugs to pour that into also along with any kind of sugar or creamer you would need. Marcy, who runs the Inn and is an artist has painted the walls with figures from Alice's and Wonderland. She makes you a home-cooked breakfast Eggs with bacon or sausage or ham depending on the day also with some sautéed vegetables to go with the eggs and this time an amazing poppyseed cake on the side. Seems that everyone who stays there really enjoys it also. There's usually some interesting conversations going on around that piano. If the walls could talk and in a way they do. Marcy leaves a small bowl of chalk on the piano for you to write your comments on her wall so in a way the walls do talk as there are so many wonderful comments to be seen and read. Just to mention your door to your room has a code so you don't need to carry a key and also there is a code to get into the house which Marcy supplies to you before you arrive. Parking is in the back and there's always a parking spot for you. Marcy is just an amazing hostess. If you ever get to Springfield and want to stay in a super cozy place for a very reasonable price this is definitely for you. I know we will be returning next summer on our way to the Cape and Marcy will have another beautiful room waiting for us.

There's plenty of parking in the back and check-in was easy. There's no lobby or reception area per se but Marci gave us the code for the back door and for our room. Each room is uniquely themed. We stayed in the Gamma Green room which had a large TV, hulk related memorabilia, and a random aquarium. There wasn't a light above the shower which should probably get installed or fixed. Breakfast is only from 8:30 to 9:30. For breakfast, she made cheesy eggs with a pumpkin trifle and a cheesy omelet with a blueberry muffin/trifle. I sensed a theme in the breakfasts but everything was delicious, especially the blueberry. I loved her selection of mugs too.

Show up after working all day and a 2 hour drive, Otherwise I would have turned around and done something another weekend. The rundown outside sums up what you'll see on the inside. Unkempt grounds, dirty windows, weird parking areas....You're not allowed to park out front. Come in at 3pm. Woman sees me then walks away... stood there a good 10 minutes under a flickering light that would cause a seizure before another woman checked me in.... Only to learn that the indoor water park is NOT open. I drive around the building to my parking area.... garbage everywhere, windows are filthy, you can see that many of the drapes are stained and worn from the outside. Inside it doesn't get much better. You walk through the door and there's a musty odour. My door didn't fully close... Kind of makes you wonder how many times it was kicked in? Windows are dirty, drapes are torn and stained, cracks in the walls, wallpaper peeling off, air conditioner was on but none of the buttons worked - - I literally had to unplug it. Crumbs inside the drawers.... I made it a point to pull apart the bed (convinced there is probably bed bugs) Luckily I did not find any, but doesn't mean there's not fleas because I definitely feel itchy. Bathroom appeared clean - - Glad we are up-to-date on our tetanus inoculations in the event we cut ourselves on the rusty metal broken toilet paper holder. This $**** hole cost $411 for 2 nights.

King studio Room 303 was spacious and clean, smelled clean. Only drawback was no fan in bathroom, right next to bedroom. My favorite touch was the mini basketball court! Note: they take a small security deposit at checkin - not $1000 like it said on Booking dot com.
