I enjoy this hotel as it is very conveniently located near the train and bus station in Vejle making it easy to travel. It is also near a variety of cafes and restaurants plus it houses several restaurants on site. All of which are very nice! The room is clean and comfortable with daily housekeeping. Although the bathroom could do with some upgrades. Quite out of date and very little vanity space. Of course, this is specific to the room I stayed in. Perhaps the other rooms are different. Also, no air conditioning which can be stuffy during the summer months. Despite these minor notes, the room is comfortable. The lobby restaurants are a property highlight! I enjoyed the sushi restaurant so much that I visited twice during my stay. Nice quality of food and well varied menu. I also found the Italian steakhouse pleasant. I should also mention that the included breakfast was delicious and offered great options. I will definitely stay again as I enjoy the friendly service, clean rooms and delicious eateries. read more

I really loved staying here. It has a ton of personality, especially by Best Western standards. The drawbacks are fairly slight. Round up to four stars if you're fairly easy to please about hotels. What you get: Great downtown location. Half a block from the train station. Cool older construction; maybe genuinely historical construction, of the main facade building. Pass through the lobby and there's much modern construction behind that, where most of the rooms are (though some are in the attractive facade building). Cool atrium area with a really good continental breakfast. Enormous high glass ceiling. Full bar. Lots of corny potted plants. They have cool dances for older folks here on the weekends. It's actually a nice setting, though the entertainment choices skew a bit geriatric. Big, comfortable rooms with gigantic eurotubs that you can soak in all day. Carpets are pretty thrashed though. Reasonable rates. Cool Malt Whisky Society attached. If you're a member, you can buy litres of interesting custom single malts with really funny names. Very high-end stuff, priced accordingly. Evidently there's a truly spectacular scotch festival here at some point during the year--one of the best in the world, if I understand it correctly. Very friendly and nice staff. From a value standpoint, it's easy to look past the basic nature of the building and the dirty carpets and push this to four stars, no problem. read more

Bad experience. We expected far more from a four-star hotel, which it was listed as. Some highlights: Filthy carpet in the room, no hairdryer, paid parking (despite info about free parking online), room with window facing an atrium - which meant a view to smokers sitting just outside our room on the shared balcony (= blinds down and no daylight) and very limited ability to get fresh air into an otherwise very hot room. The breakfast was also a disappointment. Half an hour before they stopped serving breakfast, basically all bread was gone, along with most cheese and fruit options. Service could also have been better. Upon arrival we were left waiting for quite some time to check in, although the people in the reception knew we were coming back in a couple of minutes after parking our car. To sum up: Our expectations were not at all met, and I don't understand why the hotel pretends to be something it clearly is not, only to let people down. Very disappointed with the stay and certainly not returning. read more

Not a fan at all. But the receptionists were very helpful. The bed was too soft and sagged in the middle. We ate at the cafe, and that was a joke. Slow service, and we had to bring our own drinks to the table. Two of our group ordered the entrecôte medium rare. The first time they came out, they were medium. The second time we got them (after everyone else had eaten their entire meals), they were well done. At that point, I was so hungry I ate it anyways. Plus, the "homemade" bearnaise sauce that we had to pay extra for (?) didn't taste homemade at all; unless you enjoy the flavor of something that came out of a plastic bucket and reheating after tossing in some fresh estragon and calling it "homemade". I did like the potatoes, though. But for a chef with 15 years of experience with steaks, it was a disappointment. Won't be recommending this place to anyone. read more
