    Water damage by the a/c.

My first room had a broken window that could not be locked on the first floor, it wasn't very clean, the towel rack was broken and on the floor and it smelled bad. I went down to change rooms and the floor was wet. The front desk clerk said it's always wet because the kids come in and out of the pool and she can't mop it up as fast as the children drip water everywhere. There was even the inside of a diaper on the floor, making it incredibly slippery. Apparently, there's only one staff person in the entire building and therefore she can't keep up with the water that is everywhere in the entryway, hallway, and by the elevators. management should either close the pool when there's one employee here or have two employees here until the pool is closed or someone's going to slip and fall and hurt themselves.

    Hair on the bed

We booked a 3 night stay and when we arrived, there was black mold on the ceiling of our room, there was hair in our beds and a few ants, there was also hair all over the bathroom and ceiling, then they wouldn't give us a refund because the rooms were "used" even though we only walked in the room and checked everything out then walked out. They said they couldn't resell the rooms because they didn't have housekeeping to remake the bed they wouldn't even consider the fact that there is mold on the ceilings. Lastly they threatened to call the police on us and after telling him that was fine and he should he said no we don't need them here.

Looks like someone tried to break in with a pry bar

000000 Stars!!!! If I could give it no stars I would!!! VERY dirty! Pool was very cloudy and we couldn't even swim. Do NOT go here!!!! Asked for a refund. Let's see if I actually get it. The whole hotel had a very funny smell.

If you're looking for a nice clean room you won't get that from this BW. We stayed one night because we extended our trip an extra day at the last minute. With all the hotel options available, We would never stay here again and we don't recommend you stay here either. These folks just aren't maintaining their rooms. The room appeared to have brand new towels but the bathroom was not clean, toothpaste splatter on the mirror and gunk in the sink. The tile floors are sticky and the curtains have heavy stains from prior guests. The same dirty wet rag was used to wipe down every surface in the room. I scrubbed dried up ketchup off the nightstand. A roach crawled along the floor in the bathroom this morning. The upside is that the room was pretty quiet and a decent size but bugs! And the lack of it being clean doesn't make up for it. 100% Total thumbs down.

So my sister in law 10th Birthday is today, and she decided that she wanted to swim (mid winter) so we thought why not just get a hotel room for the night for the kids. So I booked the room in spot on Saturday. This specific hotel was recommended to me by my mother in law so I didn't look into the reviews or anything (rookie mistake) I just booked it and brought the kids. Pros : Coming into the hotel, I was greeted by friendly staff, The lobby looked clean. The continental hot breakfast had tons of options, my room was stocked and clean. They accommodating me having my son so they brought me a baby crib which was great. When we first arrived the pool area was clean the water was a good temperature (To much chlorine) the kids kept complaining about their eyes burning and the smell was VERY strong. Cons : So when I first arrived I let the front desk agent know that it was my sister in laws birthday so I would have 3 small children, My husband & I. She made a big deal about the fact they only allow four people in the room, and that you need the blue wristbands to get in the pool area and how no outside guest for allowed to be in the pool. Which was whatever My issue with it was that some other family was having a birthday party as well and they came like 40 DEEP ( no kidding ) which was annoying because their rooms was all around mines so my 6month old had trouble staying asleep. But they got in the pool and it was literally 34 kids and only 3 of them were mine. It was just way to many people the pool was not big enough for that and so many of them didn't have wrist bands on. And no one ever came to check on the pool area so their were no clean towels. The maintenance man and the front desk attendant was sitting in the lobby eating dinner (as if they don't get breaks to do that) so anytime you needed something from the front desk attendant would have to get up and come over to the counter to help. Just looked unprofessional.. I also didn't appreciate that from the time the pool closed at 11 until it opened back up at 8am, the pool area was a mess... from socks everywhere, wet towels everywhere and no clean towels again. Like what happened night shift? ALSO the only reason I chose this hotel was because they had a jacuzzi (that I could enjoy) but it was out of order.. Our microwave didn't work, so when I told them I would need a discount because I don't have the kitchenette I paid for, especially if we have to go back and forth to the lobby to heat up our pizza. The maintenance man went and found another knob and it worked. JANIFER - she was the breakfast attendant, she was very helpful and friendly. She also came and checked to see if we had towels the next morning and she went and got some when she realized there wasn't any. She also was blindsided by the fact that there was no towels in the pool room when it just opened 10mins ago. But overall the kids had a good time. I just wouldn't come back to this hotel specifically

    mold!

Walked into the room confronted by the toilet with poop inside. Not sure if the room was cleaned properly, with hair and a blackened bathtub. The moldy ceiling in the bathroom. Out of date and cracked with nail polish stain on furniture. Sheets were Questionable about how clean it was. I Lysol Everything. The yogurt was expired. Told the ladies about that and they pulled all the expired ones out. Not staying here again.

Pictures do not do justice of how dark and disgusting this stain actually is.

Absolutely disgusting. We started off by checking into a room, within 10 minutes had someone with a key try to enter our room, luckily the safety door latch was shut. So we asked to change rooms, which wasn't a huge deal. So we leave for dinner and a movie, when we come back we get ready for bed, only to find cigarette burn holes in our duvet. My family owns and operates a Best Western, so I always do a bed bug check before getting into bed. Luckily no signs, however, these nasty stains aren't much better. When walking through the halls I noticed tape along the bottoms of some doors, which after reading the hotel's reviews is likely due to bed bugs and roaches. Not to mention, the entire building reeks of cigarettes. If this were my family's hotel, I would be utterly embarrassed. As a Best Western employee, this is the first time I've ever had to check out and leave to get a room somewhere else. Under no circumstances would I recommend giving this place your business. Even paying the employee rate, is 10 times more than this hotels worth. There wasn't a manager on duty tonight, and conveniently won't be in until Monday. I will be calling.

This hotel was very nice. Clean. Worth it. But the staff was absolutely rude and disgusting. They did not follow the standard Covid guidelines for the pool. It was out of control and they didn't seem to give a rats a**. They gave me an attitude & did nothing about it. They walking into the pool and saw how bad it was and they walked right back out and STILL let more people in. What's the point of a wristband if no staff is monitoring the pool? I was told 4 people in the pool per room. Well I saw people sneaking kids in, no wristbands, hogging the pool running jumping water guns literally like 10 children in the hot tub. Most of the kids were unsupervised when they're supposed to be if under 18. Again, staff didn't give a crap. They couldn't simply direct me to my room. The couldn't help me bring my cart in while im pushing my son In his stroller and this huge cart and struggling to find my room and they just laughed at me. The one lady started getting nervous once I snapped on them and demanded a refund. So she thought she could just hide her name tag with her arm. She kept her arm over her Name tag for quite some time. Dalia was her name according to the other staff lady. Instead of apologizing for the problem and refunding me my money and giving me a free stay because we couldn't use the pool, they made us clear the entire room out before they'd even refund my money. Deactivated my key cards before my money was refunded. It was just disgusting.

    Someone else bottoms gross!

The room was clean with minimal issues, and I can say that after using a black light on the bed, couch, and chair. As for the patrons, well, most were workers like construction and utility workers, two young lawyers, and one person going to an interview for Ford Motor Manufacturing. So, I knew there wouldn't be any ruckus, that was until the weekend arrived and things turned for the worse. At least 6-8 people were going in and out of each room, their kids playing chase during breakfast, the overwhelming smell of reefer, running up and down the hallway, and throwing bedding, towels, and their trash into the hallway. What makes things worse is that throwing bedding, towels, and trash out into the hallway after midnight on a Saturday means cleaning personnel are off Sunday, so the bedding, towels, and trash will remain until Monday. Next, Steve B told me that the most bizarre and repulsive encounter was when Bonquisha's little sister took off with her panties running in the lobby. Don't ask me why Bonquisha was in the pool without them, or how her little sister obtained them, but it was weird and disgusting. Later, Grant R. mentioned that it was impossible to use the pool with eight kids jumping and splashing water. He mentioned that one of the teens brought their large room towels down to the pool area. He saw hotel staff having to gather them to wash because they went through so many. Luckily, my only encounter was when I was getting off the elevator, when the doors opened, two adult females and eight kids blocked my exit. They started cramming into the elevator with me still on. Oblivious to proper etiquette, not like that's an astonishment at this point. Again, let me be clear, this isn't a hotel issue, but more of a clientele issue. The above-mentioned is typical at Baymont, Motel 6, and Super 8, but not at a Hilton chain, no, not even at a Hampton Inn.

The cons: SO LOUD, no housekeeping. We were here for over a week and housekeeping only came ONCE and that was only because we complained that we had no more towels. There is a sign in the bathroom that states housekeeping comes every other day, but that simply was not true. We checked in on a Friday, and checked out the following Saturday (8 nights total). Housekeeping only came in on Tuesday (again, after we told the front desk that they hadn't done at all and we were out of clean towels - family of 3 staying in the room). They never came again, despite us leaving the room by 11 (at the latest), and turning on the "make up room" light. It was also super loud - I could hear the traffic outside all night and day, and the folks around us sounded like they were in the room with us. Very thin walls. I will say the young woman at the front desk was very polite and asked multiple times if she could do anything to make the stay more pleasant, but there were no rooms available closer to the west side of the building (away from the traffic on VanDyke) so unfortunately we were stuck. Oh and the TRAIN that runs near the hotel at 1:00AM was also super pleasant - blaring horns and whistles in the middle of the night. I will also note that literally every evening when we returned, there were people directly outside the hotel entrance smoking (multiple things). Not great to walk our young daughter through a cloud of smoke (again, multiple kinds of smoke). I feel the hotel should enforce their policy of no smoking within a certain distance from the door. Overall it wasn't the worst hotel stay ever, but certainly not great.

Even if you've done absolutely nothing wrong. Myself and 2 co workers were staying at this hotel. 1 week before I even arrived I requested to get info on a long term stay discount or a corporate discount for us bc we would be staying there for the next 3 mths for work. After staying there for 1 week and all of us being told they would get back to us and never did, I called and talked to the general manager bc our rooms were due and it was almost $100 higher than the 1st week we stayed there. The general manager was so rude and unprofessional. She cut me off multiple times and tried to make it seem as if we weren't going to pay or stay for the agreed upon time frame. Although this was rude- I disregarded it and let my boss secure the corporate rate. While that was in progress, I got a notification on my camera. A women entered my room and was trying to take out my trash. ( Which was empty) So I called the hotel and politely sd I have a do not disturb sign on my door and I don't need housekeeping. So moving forward can u guys make sure that no one is entering my room if I'm not there. The most ghetto, rachet, I hate my job type of woman proceeded to yell at me as if I'd assaulted her child or something. She was completely unprofessionally and told me that if I didn't want anyone in my room I could leave their hotel bc it was their property and that she didn't care about my "little camera". I politely explained to her that I didn't want to cause any issues and that I just didn't want anyone in my room without me being present. She then threatened to call the police on me and told me I have 1 hour to come remove my belongings. This was extremely an overuse of authority considering I never raised my voice, got rude, was disrespectful, or cursed, despite her being so rude to me. So I had to leave work and go and move my stuff out of the hotel and find another place on a whim all bc these 2 incompetent, unprofessional, emotionally unstable woman don't know how to properly communicate, provide any type of decent customer service or just be decent human beings. I've stayed in hotels all across the country and this was by FAR my worst experience EVER!!!

This is more a 3 but I'm hoping the manager or chain recognizes this and acts accordingly at which…read morepoint I will change the rating to a three, again, because of the staff. All hotel staff were friendly and engaged in taking care of us. This has more to do with building management. In our first room, the shower door may not have been setup correctly or more accurately the door and shower curb weren't keeping water in. The curb should have a slight grade or lip so any water which gets past, comes back into the shower area and or a sweep / seal on the door. The grade shouldn't be so large to prevent opening the door but if anyone has installed one of those shower doors recently, they know the hinge is designed to raise the door as it opens. This isn't just to be fancy, it is because there should be a grade or a lip that it needs to clear. Older doors didn't have those hinges so you would or could use a sweep/seal at the bottom of the door and place it a height where the door can open. Anyway, a lot of water came out on the bathroom floor and we weren't the first, I inspected it and saw mold and mildew where the floor tile meets the shower curb. That says this problem has been going on for a while but the hotel staff did what they could. Normally people place a hand towel by the door and that works well enough for any water that doesn't get captured by the sweep / seal or fall back to drainage by grade / lip. In this instance there was so much water coming through that our hand towel was soaked and the bathroom floor, not the shower floor, still had water pooling. Either way, she took note of everything I was explaining. I did mention the room was kept clean enough but if no one points this out, it can become a larger issue later. It may already be an issue but they'd need someone to inspect it eventually. Hopefully sooner rather than later. This room was on a higher floor so not good for people below over time. The hotel clerk mentioned there was a lot going on but luckily the hotel had one room open up but it was different. The hotel clerk was interested in what was going on and asked me to show her and so I did. She took notes and then helped us get situated to our new room. In our new room, we got there and the HVAC fan was perpetually running but we thought it was in a cycle so thought nothing of it and headed out for the day. When we came back, after a couple hours we realized it wasn't turning off and it wasn't responding to the fan controls on the thermostat. We This did not prove to make for a comfortable sleep. We mentioned this and this time a different clerk was working and he told us that's how all of them are. I told them that's not true and pointed to our previous room having a working HVAC unit that behaved normally. The fan motor should not always be running unless you tell it to. On most thermostat's there's Off, Auto, On. If there's three options, you should have three options. If you didn't set the fan to "On" or the heat or cooling to a ridiculous unachievable setting with the fan set to "Auto", it should eventually turn off. You can force it on or off but that usually masks an underlying problem. Essentially there's a relay at the end which acts on your thermostats signal. If you want it to always run, you can jump the relay hot. If you don't want it to run, you can just pull the relay. This is just to let people know, this is not my first rodeo. Regardless, there weren't any other rooms available so we dealt with it. The hotel staff were all considerate and caring throughout. Regardless, these are issues that need resolving before we visit this location again as two for two we had rooms with issues. The hotel staff did all they could. These are issues which hotel management needs to alert building management on.
