Broken into right outside main entrance.

BE CAREFUL!! Stayed at this hotel and had my car broken into overnight while parked in the "secure lot." The lot is fenced-in with surveillance cameras and supposedly staffed by a "security guard" but that didn't stop anyone from breaking my window, breaking the steering column, destroying the ignition, and causing over $6,000 in damage. My car was parked in one of the "Diamond Guest" spots that are well-lit and close to the main entrance but that didn't matter either. The vehicle was undriveable so it had to be towed and I had to rent a car for the 5+ hour drive home. I understand that these things happen, but the hotel claimed to have parking lot security. Unfortunately, hotel management claimed they sent their security guard home early the night that my car got broken into, Hampton Inn / Hilton refused to help in any way or offer any type of compensation or reimbursement. They did tell me they were "sorry" that it happened but that's it. I paid full price to stay in their hotel for four nights and in return my car was broken into and severely damaged, I got to pay a $500 deductible to my insurance, and I had to burn vacation time at work to deal with it. In short, if you're visiting Detroit and value your property, stay at a Marriott hotel. Again, I realize that these types of things happen, but when someone claims to offer security only to send that security home; I'd expect them to take some responsibility or help a supposedly valued guest. It's been months since it happened and even after multiple repairs with two full interior detail jobs, I'm still finding pieces of broken glass and dealing with issues.

Worst hotel ever!!! Management is horrible, unprofessional & ghetto!! They will throw u out and…read morethreaten to call the police on u just to avoid doing their jobs. Even if you've done absolutely nothing wrong. Myself and 2 co workers were staying at this hotel. 1 week before I even arrived I requested to get info on a long term stay discount or a corporate discount for us bc we would be staying there for the next 3 mths for work. After staying there for 1 week and all of us being told they would get back to us and never did, I called and talked to the general manager bc our rooms were due and it was almost $100 higher than the 1st week we stayed there. The general manager was so rude and unprofessional. She cut me off multiple times and tried to make it seem as if we weren't going to pay or stay for the agreed upon time frame. Although this was rude- I disregarded it and let my boss secure the corporate rate. While that was in progress, I got a notification on my camera. A women entered my room and was trying to take out my trash. ( Which was empty) So I called the hotel and politely sd I have a do not disturb sign on my door and I don't need housekeeping. So moving forward can u guys make sure that no one is entering my room if I'm not there. The most ghetto, rachet, I hate my job type of woman proceeded to yell at me as if I'd assaulted her child or something. She was completely unprofessionally and told me that if I didn't want anyone in my room I could leave their hotel bc it was their property and that she didn't care about my "little camera". I politely explained to her that I didn't want to cause any issues and that I just didn't want anyone in my room without me being present. She then threatened to call the police on me and told me I have 1 hour to come remove my belongings. This was extremely an overuse of authority considering I never raised my voice, got rude, was disrespectful, or cursed, despite her being so rude to me. So I had to leave work and go and move my stuff out of the hotel and find another place on a whim all bc these 2 incompetent, unprofessional, emotionally unstable woman don't know how to properly communicate, provide any type of decent customer service or just be decent human beings. I've stayed in hotels all across the country and this was by FAR my worst experience EVER!!!

We stayed here for one night, and while the price was affordable, the service reflected it. The…read morecheck-in experience was disappointing -- no greeting, no directions to the room, and an unprofessional attitude from the front desk associate. When I requested a fresh set of sheets for my newborn, I was met with confusion and attitude, as if my request was unreasonable. The sheets I received didn't feel clean, which only added to my discomfort. The hotel itself is okay for a quick overnight stay, but there were noticeable issues. The hallways smelled strongly of weed (understandable given it's a common issue in many areas) and the walls had visible stains, like coffee splashes. Checkout was unremarkable -- the front desk associate was indifferent. Having worked in hospitality for five years, I know that the guest experience begins at check-in, not once they reach their room. Unfortunately, this hotel didn't meet that standard. If you're looking for a budget-friendly place to sleep, it gets the job done. But if service and cleanliness matter to you, you may want to spend a little more for a better experience.

As per usual, The Avid Hotel (Warren, Mi) did not dissapoint! My stay was extremely comfortable…read more My room (101) was extremely clean, the 24 hour coffee station is awesome and the staff is stellar! It was great to see front desk agent; Brandon again. He provided, kind, proffessional and efficient service throughout my stay...obliging my various requests (including holding my luggage, charging items to my room etc). It was very much appreciated!!! It was also great to see Mitchell again. Much like my previous stay, he was very empathetic regarding the circumstances of my visit. He inquired about my dad (who was hospitalized, during my last visit). Unfortunately, this time, I was there for his funeral. Mitchell offered heartfelt condolences. Thank you!!! A pretty housekeeper; Jammie- smiled & greeted me, each time I passed her in the hall. Since I requested no housekeeping service in my room, whenever she saw me, she kindly offered trash bags, towels or anything I might need. Please give her my thanks!!! She had no idea my heart was broken, but was a much needed ray of sunshine. Thank you to the entire staff. I'll see you all again, in a few months. -Eureka Lewis

This is more a 3 but I'm hoping the manager or chain recognizes this and acts accordingly at which…read morepoint I will change the rating to a three, again, because of the staff. All hotel staff were friendly and engaged in taking care of us. This has more to do with building management. In our first room, the shower door may not have been setup correctly or more accurately the door and shower curb weren't keeping water in. The curb should have a slight grade or lip so any water which gets past, comes back into the shower area and or a sweep / seal on the door. The grade shouldn't be so large to prevent opening the door but if anyone has installed one of those shower doors recently, they know the hinge is designed to raise the door as it opens. This isn't just to be fancy, it is because there should be a grade or a lip that it needs to clear. Older doors didn't have those hinges so you would or could use a sweep/seal at the bottom of the door and place it a height where the door can open. Anyway, a lot of water came out on the bathroom floor and we weren't the first, I inspected it and saw mold and mildew where the floor tile meets the shower curb. That says this problem has been going on for a while but the hotel staff did what they could. Normally people place a hand towel by the door and that works well enough for any water that doesn't get captured by the sweep / seal or fall back to drainage by grade / lip. In this instance there was so much water coming through that our hand towel was soaked and the bathroom floor, not the shower floor, still had water pooling. Either way, she took note of everything I was explaining. I did mention the room was kept clean enough but if no one points this out, it can become a larger issue later. It may already be an issue but they'd need someone to inspect it eventually. Hopefully sooner rather than later. This room was on a higher floor so not good for people below over time. The hotel clerk mentioned there was a lot going on but luckily the hotel had one room open up but it was different. The hotel clerk was interested in what was going on and asked me to show her and so I did. She took notes and then helped us get situated to our new room. In our new room, we got there and the HVAC fan was perpetually running but we thought it was in a cycle so thought nothing of it and headed out for the day. When we came back, after a couple hours we realized it wasn't turning off and it wasn't responding to the fan controls on the thermostat. We This did not prove to make for a comfortable sleep. We mentioned this and this time a different clerk was working and he told us that's how all of them are. I told them that's not true and pointed to our previous room having a working HVAC unit that behaved normally. The fan motor should not always be running unless you tell it to. On most thermostat's there's Off, Auto, On. If there's three options, you should have three options. If you didn't set the fan to "On" or the heat or cooling to a ridiculous unachievable setting with the fan set to "Auto", it should eventually turn off. You can force it on or off but that usually masks an underlying problem. Essentially there's a relay at the end which acts on your thermostats signal. If you want it to always run, you can jump the relay hot. If you don't want it to run, you can just pull the relay. This is just to let people know, this is not my first rodeo. Regardless, there weren't any other rooms available so we dealt with it. The hotel staff were all considerate and caring throughout. Regardless, these are issues that need resolving before we visit this location again as two for two we had rooms with issues. The hotel staff did all they could. These are issues which hotel management needs to alert building management on.
