We were welcomed by the friendly reception staff, who directed us to a small bar, whilst the rest of the guests arrived. The bar was well stocked and priced well for a hotel. We'd booked a meal and disco type affair, with a selection of festive options available to choose for our 3 courses. All the food was well cooked and very enjoyable, with decent sized portions served by the friendly and attentive waiting staff. The only negative I can find to the night is that the dining/disco area was made up of 3 off-shot areas, so the individual tables were slightly cut off from the rest of the party. All in all an enjoyable visit to a good looking hotel.

The current offer is £19 per room per night if you book at least three weeks in advance. A room sleeps up to four people easily (including using a sofa bed which opens out into a double bed). On the website bookings can be made up to 12 months in advance. The hotel rooms are plain and basic, but you'd be hard pushed to find something else as cheap as this. This hotel is near Derby just off a busy dual carriageway. Make sure you ask for a room on the quieter side of the hotel when checking in, because the early morning rush hour starts very early. I'm a light sleeper so I notice these things!

The beers were really good, those from their own brewery (including a green coloured ale) and the guests. The food is worth recommending too we managed to eat here once in the evening, as well as devouring a couple of breakfasts (you can actually get a beer with breakfast if you are man mad enough) 6 rooms, watch out for the haunted toilet in room 3!

The Hillsborough Hotel is a good stop on Sheffield's 'Beer Valley' trail with a tram stop close by…read moreto take you into town or to other real-ale pubs on the trail. There's a great selection of beers brewed at the on-site Crown micro-brewery (including stout) and there are also some 'proper' Continental lagers on tap. The main drinking area is plainly furnished with lots of bare wood and the conservatory at the rear is a winner with great views along the Don Valley. Staff are pleasant and knowledgeable and there's also food and B&B accommodation, although we haven't tried either of these so can't comment on them.

Myself and about 29 of my friends descended on CenterParcs for my 40th birthday. Don't worry its…read morereally not that sort of place and a good proportion of the 30 people were kids. Myself and 12 others stayed for a week in March, when the prices are not too bad. However it can be pretty pricey in the summer / main holiday periods. We stayed in an 8 berth executive villa with hot tub and games room and 4 en-suite rooms. It was perfect for me and my friends. It also sported a great gas BBQ. The place is set in woodland and has a lot of wildlife, rabbits, birds and squirrels will follow you around all day long. The list of activities you can do is almost endless. I myself did the following activities ( I have rated each ) Archery 5* ( £16 for 45 minutes ) Golf Driving Range 4* ( £10 per hour, club hire and balls basically ) Badminton 4* ( £11 for two people including gear hire ) Pool 5* ( Free ) Nature walk 4* ( Free ) Bowling 2* ( 28 per lane per hour, very noisy and low quality lanes & balls ) Canoeing 3* ( £5 per person for 30 minutes or so, quite a small lake but still fun ) Cycling 3* ( £58 to hire a bike for a week, bring your own or share ) There are a lot of food places there, we tried most of them so I have rated each. Note as the restaurants are pretty much the only thing you can do the prices are a bit higher than outside. Strada 4* - Nice Italian food and wine and good staff. Cafe Rouge 2* - Food ok but overpriced. Made 2* - poor service and average takeaway food Rajinda Pradesh 3* - Not a bad Indian at all. Hucks 2* - Noisy as hell american diner and not great food. Takeaway service 4* - The takeaway service was really good actually they provide Indian, pizza and Chinese food. Overall mainly because of the company this was my best birthday ever, a great place. However it can get crowded and there are a lot of kids so if you don't like kids I would avoid. If you have kids they will LOVE THIS PLACE!

A very rare, and completely deserved, five star rating for this country house hotel on the…read moreoutskirts of Rotherham, and within easy reach of the M1 and M18 motorways. There are around 90 bedrooms in the complex, including a number of luxury suites, most of which offer views over the rolling countryside. The hotel do a booming conference and wedding trade, and as one of the few places in the area which offer genuine professionalism and quality, its usually booked long in advance. we've used the delegate facilities on a number of occasions, and its pretty much faultless. One of the conference rooms can cater for up to 500 delegates! Guests also have full use of the in house fitness suite, which offers a modern gym, 20m swimming pool, health spa, sauna, steam room and sun-beds. Staff take pride in their work and are happy to help. Food in the main restaurant is superb, and snacks in the public areas and room service is all of a high quality. Its probably a little more expensive than anywhere else locally, but you really do get what you pay for, and if you want a comfortable and quality stay in the local area, then this is the place to stay at.

Kettle was old and shockingly disgusting from the inside. Food quality varies quite a lot both at the bar and the restaurant. Staff mostly friendly. WiFi is free but offers crappiest connection I ever had at a hotel and is incredibly slow.
