He had been attending another area center and I guess I was used to the way they operated, but I kept getting the feeling that it just wasn't good enough. The administrator was not very personable (actually downright rude) and the teachers seemed lazy, inexperienced and lacked confidence...definitely not the type of environment I wanted my son to spend 8 hours a day in. I started looking into other options and nothing seemed any better. Then I stumbled on Balanced Family Academy. WOW!!!! From the minute I called them I was excited about this place. I visited the center a few times before deciding to move him. I was nervous about him transitioning into a new place and I figured it would take him a few weeks to adjust. Well...I was wrong. He LOVES this center and loves his teachers. It's amazing how well kids do when they are in a place where people are happy to be there, excited about teaching, and truly seem to enjoy their jobs! There are so many "perks" that this center offers (too many to list), but the most important thing to me is how my son acts when we walk in the door each morning. The owners and teachers are wonderful and my husband and I are thrilled we made the decision to enroll him in Balanced Family Academy.

I followed the instructions provided to go to a different door for a walk-in fridge and not go to the front door. I accidentally opened TWO incorrect doors while looking for the one with the fridge. Both of them were unlocked, opened without any effort. One of them giving access to the "gym" and the other to a classroom full of children sitting. Unlocked. If you do bring your kids here, please ask some questions and get this policy changed. Seems quite unsafe and unmonitored to me.

The teachers and administrators care about their students and the curriculum is fun and age appropriate. We appreciate the level of communication we receive (daily reports of what the kids were up to, along with photos from the day), which allow us to engage in conversations with our kids when they say they "don't remember" what they did that day. We started each of our sons in intermediate class (age 3-4) and both have developed new skills, made new friends, and grown so much thanks to their teachers. We were also thrilled to learn that many of our neighbors send their kids to ECLC as well, so our boys are both entering elementary school with friends they've known for a few years.

The student-teacher ratio is perfect, and the Montessori approach to learning has been wonderful. Our eldest entered Kindergarten confident and ready. We will be so sad when our second child finishes this school year at MCH, but she is well prepared to move on to Kindergarten! After reading the negative review, I felt the need to add my experience with the Mill Run Primrose…read more I have two children 12 months apart, 2 years old and 3 years old, enrolled since birth with Tara's school. It's not inexpensive; in fact, it's about as pricey as it gets, but as expectant parents who have done their homework know, there's not a wide margin from school to school, and the several that we explored before choosing Primrose that were substantially less expensive...well I wouldn't step foot back in those schools. The kind of relationships that my children have built with ALL of their teachers trough the several classrooms they have been in is on par with the kind of relationship they have with their grandparents and aunts and uncles. The primrose staff is family to my children. Several teachers that ended up leaving primrose still keep contact with me on Facebook, and send messages of well wishes and asking how the girls are doing. Both of my girls are potty trained, know more sign language than I can keep up with, and are creatively and socially engaged beyond the level of which I could hope them to be in most any other circumstance. The moral of the story - if you're looking for an environment that fosters loving friendship, family values, and education foremost, and you hope to have your children more developmentally advanced than their stay-at-home counterparts...if you want to leave your daycare every morning at drop off knowing that they're in the hands of people you love and trust, the Mill Run Primrose should be your first option. Even after divorce and a tighter budget, I've never considered an alternative option. Do yourself a favor and go tour with Tara, Liz, and Katie and meet the teachers my children consider family.
