My family has been attending Bethel for about 3 months. Pastor Prince and his wife, Faith, are AMAZING as well as the support staff who we have met or know. This church desires to build community with so many opportunities to become involved. Highly recommended this larger church, with a smaller, community feel. Get the app or join on FB to keep up with events or you will miss out. read more

Bethel Church in Evansville has driven their senior class of more than 50 people out of their classroom and therefore the church. These are folks who helped build that church from the ground up. Many have been there since the 60's. The senior class has been pushed out of one room to another until finally now being told that if they want to meet at Bethel, these elderly people will have to travel to the second floor to a small prayer garden. It was even made clear by one of the pastor's staff to the elders that the church is doing great financially. Clearly letting the elders know that their tithes are no longer that important. The pastor of the church (Prince Samuel) didn't even have the respect to meet with these people who have been the foundation of this church for so many years. They've been forbidden to have an American flag or even say the pledge of allegiance in church. Now these wonderful, Godly people are basically forced to find someplace else to gather. I guess I just don't understand a church who would do this to these members of their congregation. Someone should ask this church what would Jesus do? read more

I love American Baptist East, or ABE…read more In college I spent a lot of weekends travelling to different churches and this was my favorite! I have gone to churches in Indiana, Atlanta, and Chicago; ABE is still my favorite! I thought ABE would be a typical "baptist" church, but I was wrong! The pastor, Jeff, is the nicest pastor I have ever met. He is very personable and shows more care for his congregation than I've ever seen. There are two services. A 9am (traditional) service and a 10:45am (contemporary) service. There is also a contemporary Saturday night service. I have only been to the contemporary services. The message always seems to be something that will make you think, and leads to good discussion with your significant other or friends afterwards. Jeff speaks with a passion every Sunday that is seldom seen. The songs are usually great choices. It almost always helped me relax and focus on why I was there. I wasn't in Evansville long enough to get involved with ABE's missions trips but I know they go to Pass Christian near New Orleans and an orphanage in India. I loved hearing about both. Whenver I go back to Evansville, Sunday morning is usually a highlight of my trip. I wish I could pick the church up and put it near me in Chicago. I encourage everyone to hear Jeff speak at least once.

Perfect for events before and after Mass. The church is very open with an incredible vaulted ceiling. Stained glass on the walls and a wonderful fresco being the crucifix. Lots of wood housing the organ pipes as well. There is also a beautiful little chapel opposite the church for small prayer opportunities of celebrations.
