First off, the location is great, as when you arrive there is a huge parking lot. No worries about if you'll find a spot. The second you walk in, they were so very organized. You checked in with an individual then waiting for orientation. Once all 80 of us were caffeinated and ready to go, we received an orientation that explained what Second Harvest was, how we were about to make a difference, and what we would be doing. They are nothing short than a Nashville miracle - thank you for all you do! I ended up sorting dry goods that day, which was perfect as the other option was being inside the freezer. They had at least 10 people from the organization on the floor assisting us with questions of where to put this or that, moving carts and barrels as we filled them up. It was a 3 or 4 hour volunteer shift, but it flew by! We ended up sorting 19,615 pounds of dry goods. That's not even counting whatever my coworkers in the freezer accomplished that day. It felt so great knowing just how our hard work would benefit those who need assistance. I haven't been back for another volunteer day on my own yet, but I will be. Please check out this wonderful place and spend a day with Second Harvest. You will not regret it!

Horrible place to work. They treat their workers like robots (slaves) expecting each person to PICK…read more20,000+ pounds a day. Their starting pay is $16, which is not enough for the work being done. There is always a rotten smell throughout the building, black dust on the products and in the air, the racks holding the merchandise are not all securely nailed into the floor, most of the workers barely use the equipment properly, and management has terrible communication skills. The people that work in the office have no problem yelling out how much money the company makes in a year (MILLIONS!!!), but fail to fight for better pay for the people in the warehouse doing the real work. There is drama of some sort every other day. The food they cook is honestly not all that... they could use some seasons or better quality food, everything taste like a cardboard box. There's not enough workers for the amount of work being done, people callout and don't show up do the time. Management has their favorites they let get away with anything! You would think since this place is a food bank it would be a nice job. Nope! Not for the warehouse workers. Most of the workers there are too slow to realize their own worth and what they're being handed. Don't work here unless you absolutely have no care for your life, need a job and can't find anything else, love drama and chaos, want to watch rich people walk pass you as you bust a sweat working for $16 an hour. Truly not worth it, don't waste your time and energy!

We brought the stuff back to her place and over half of it needed to be thrown out. The chicken they give you has been frozen over and over. The bread is at least 3 weeks old. They gave my elderly client some milk and juice which they were all out dated by 5 weeks. I would hate to know how sick she would of gotten from drinking it. Better yet what if a child would of gotten ahold of it. You people are a bunch of hypocrites and only want people to donate money to your own pockets. The people that work there are very nasty looking as well. And it's not in the best of neighborhoods. I certainly hope my call gets you shut down

I received milk that was spoiled to the point that when I poured it out, it was clumps, like cottage cheese. Yuck! Some of the bread was molded. I was afraid to eat the meat after seeing the spoiled milk & molded bread. The frozen pizza was molded & the workers actually ate it. OMG! The place is dirty & I could almost see the germs flying around waiting to attach themselves to everyone in the office. Someone had spilled something a long time ago & the smell was so bad, that someone finally tracked it down & decided to clean it up. I don't know what kind of connections the founder has to keep this place open, but beware of the food you receive. It may contain live rodents as one person found out. That was a scary situation. I had to figure out another way to make my monthly food supply last longer, because I'm not going back to Manna. I don't believe they are sanitary on top of serving food that is outdated. One good thing about my experience is that I've lost weight since I don't eat as much as I use to.

I spent about 30 min in that store shopping. I have a very busy schedule. And this rude person just completely waists my time. Not very helpful at all considering they get these things through donation to begin with then they rip you off!! Greedy people!

A volunteer told me that I had messed up the line but never informed me that I need to go through two fast food parking lots to get to their actual line. I believe that a map should be included with the direction email. Or maybe signs that direct traffic. Because that dead end sign is not helpful esp when it appears you have limited options. We have never had an issue and this has been occurring for nearly 5 years. They are always informative and answer any questions I may have. They work hard and they accept donations for anyone that does have something negative to say. You chose to go somewhere cheaper instead of a vet where you would have to pay plenty more for them to do the same thing, just with more time and staff. Consider donating financially or with dog/ cat food.

We also donated the furniture to them and their truck divers who came to get it with their truck were on time, efficient, polite &careful. You have to fill a form out online to donate furniture and send photos ahead of time. But they contacted me 3x: once to set up the Pick Up and then to confirm the pick up and then to let me know they were on their way. Most of their items go to folks in need, but they also have a thrift shop upfront also. I was very happy to keep things from the landfill and donate usable items to folks in need.

This place is a blessing from God. Basically it is the…read morevision of pastor Bob Evans (no relation to the sausage guy) to give away donated food to people of Wilson county who are in need. His group collects food from various private, commercial and governmental places then gives it away on the last Saturday of the month. The really great thing about the operation is that the + or - 500 people that receive help each month not only get maybe 100 lbs of food they also get to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and they get some personal counseling by volunteers that want to lend a caring ear and pray with the people about any situation that is on their mind. Another awesome aspect of the operation is the fact that it probably takes around 150 people to pull off an operation like this every month and all of these people are volunteers. This means that any money that they raise goes straight to buying more food to give away. Their is one secret about the operation and that is that is a real blessing to be able to help people that need it and to advance the kingdom of Christ at the same. If anyone reads this and needs help or would like to volunteer please do not hesitate one iota to contact them.
