If you are looking for coffee before service starts, it's available in the front lobby. Inside the sanctuary, there are plenty of seats that are angled to allow a good view of the stage. The pastor and staff are all so friendly and are quick to greet you with a smile and a warm handshake when you walk into church. Service starts on time with the worship/singing time. It lasts for about 30 minutes. The worship team is awesome with guitar, bass, keyboard, and drums. The music is good but I think that maybe worship time is a bit long. The pastor's sermon is good and it seems like for some people, if a sermon goes too long, that becomes a dealbreaker. I don't mind long sermons if the message is good and easy to listen to. I don't have a problem with the length of the sermon. All told, it was about 1 hour 15 minutes from start to end of the service. What I do notice is that a lot of people show up late, after service has started. For me, I always get to church before service starts because I don't want to be that guy that walks in late. I guess, better late than never when it comes to going to church, right? I really don't have anything bad to say. It's a nice church to go to and we're still debating on whether we want to call this church home. Definitely one of the better churches that we've attended on a regular basis.

I started attending weekly…read moreservice here since July 2013 and decided this is the church I want to call my home church and got baptized by Pastor Chris in August. I've been to other churches prior to Heritage and non gave me the warm and welcoming feelings I got the 1st time I walked through the doors of Heritage. Pastor Chris and his team made me felt very welcome and to my surprised they remembered my name by the 2nd week. I love sitting through the services because both Pastor Chris and Pastor Hoy are great preachers, I feel they're speaking into my soul. Sadly my work schedule conflicts with sunday service but I try to go as much as I possibly can or I'll listen to the message on their website! I've moved back to the Bay Area but will most definitely attend service when I'm in the area.

However, after the experience that I had this last Thursday at their annual Rummage Sale, I had to share my thoughts! This was the most well organized, detailed, thoughtful rummage sale I have ever attended (and again, I go to SO many!!) Every single member of the volunteer staff whom were representing the church conducted themselves with such grace, kindness, and dignity. Everyone from elders, to teenagers were there to help, in a great mood, and I must say that it reflects so well upon the congregation as a whole. I should also mention: they had so many WONDERFUL treasures for prices you cannot find anywhere else (thrift stores included!) I do not live in the immediate area, but have family close by and will be sure to stop by for a service when I am in town, and I will tell the people that I know from the area about how wonderful the people and events here are. Thank you all for your hard work and kindness! It truly does go such a long way!

They remember you by name which is not something I am used to as I commonly attended "mega churches." I feel the Holy Spirit here and I love the way the Pastor leads the service -- its scripture soaked and he even adds in some history lessons which I love. I have learned a lot and have grown closer to God (most importantly). I have invited several people to church and they all say the same thing. We found our church home and we couldn't be happier!

Since I now work and live in the Bay Area, I call Calvary Chapel San Ramon my home church. However, if I lived in the area, I'd definitely be attending here. When I saw that Joshua Bove was Pastoring church, I started auditing his sermons because of my admiration of his father, Pastor Mark, who had a hand in leading me to salvation thru my Lord and Savior Jesus who paid the price for my sins on the cross. I have listened to sermon after sermon and I can without hesitation say: Pastor Josh is a spot on Biblical pastor, using expository preaching, going line by line thru scripture and equipping the saints for God's glory; just like his father and Pastor Chuck Smith both did before him. If I lived in the area, this would be my home church. Pastor Joshua Bove and His brother, Pastor James Bove of Calvary Chapel Anaheim are both blessings to their communities. You will be hard-pressed to find a more welcoming group of believers who love Christ like the saints at GBC Roseville. Their love for Christ drives their love for people. They love the Word because they love Christ. Come here and you will be blessed.

A few preliminary remarks before my main comments. The church building is a lovely white chapel…read morewith plenty of parking. There are two main entrances into the church. We entered the church from the front entrance yet many people enter the building from the side entrance. The church is denominationally Southern Baptist that affirms the Five Solas of the Protestant reformation (e.g. Calvinism). The Bible translation used by GBC is the English Standard Version (ESV) and/or New American Standard Bible (NASB). My family and I were quickly welcomed for our first visit. The deacons provided us with visitor welcome packets full of information about GBC. We were greatly impressed by the expository preaching, congregational worship (it really is the whole church singing), and the authenticity of God's people at GBC. Pastor Rod Santiago's preaching is exquisitely expositional. Pastor Santiago preaches verse by verse, with detail given to the original Biblical languages, to effectively communicate the full counsel of God. He exemplifies proper homiletics to the glory of God (i.e. sermons flow from exegesis to biblical theology with practical application). He exemplifies holistic preaching. He applies the Bible holistically to the person with the intent God transforms both the mind and heart with the glorious gospel of Christ. The theological richness and reflection of Pastor Santiago's messages are, by the power of the Holy Spirit, convicting, challenging, correcting, and heart-changing. There is proper balance at GBC, in the sense that, biblical theology births doxology and evidences good works. I think GBC's practice of communion is richly developed/nuanced. Any given person is warned with serious conviction that communion is a sign of the New Covenant, Christ's substitutionary death for the penalty of sin, and His imminent return for authentic Christians (that divides/separates believers and unbelievers). Communion is not a trifling practice nor is it a ritual; rather, it communicates/relates symbolically a direct connection (e.g. self-identifying) with the gospel. The worship consists of doctrinally enriched classic and contemporary hymns/songs. The style of music does not feel like a Christian rock concert where the vocalist is the focus. Quite the opposite. The whole church congregation echoes in songs of praise to God. The church unity is evident in the corporate singing. The lyrics promote praise, reflection, and celebration. The people at GBC express authenticity, transparency and security. I'd recommend anyone to visit and/or join. Blessings on you.
