First and foremost this is a Church of God, the Holy Spirit is alive and well here. The pastors preach directly out of the Bible. The theology that is spoken and shared can be traced directly back to Jesus. The best part is that there is life in this church. It is comprised of young people, families and people rich in life experiences. This shows you that the church is alive and well. If you are looking for a place to start your journey, a place to seek refuge from the storm or a place to grow you in the Word and your faith Living Word is a wonderful place to be. The vision of the church through Drew (lead pastor) and Tim (associate pastor) is to Connect, Grow and Serve. My family and I have lived in Oak Harbor for 3 years now, I come from an evangelical background rich in faith and love and so finding a church in Oak Harbor has been amazing. They have met the needs of my children (9, 7 and 3) growing them in the Word of God. They have met the needs of my wife and I, a wonderful contemporary "come as you are" style service as well as offering small groups to better feed our souls and help us grow as a couple and individuals. These small groups target different areas within life and help give you tools to better equip you for the challenges that life brings your way. Living Word also has plenty of opportunities to serve whether that's going on a mission trip, summer Bible camp or helping on a Sunday morning...there's something for everyone. Long story short, in the last three years I have entrusted this church family with my family while I deployed countless times. They were there in person and in faith. They met the spiritual needs of my family and I know they will for yours. We have made some lifelong friends here and as we near our transfer date this is a community and family that we are going to dearly miss. So I'm closing I would highly recommend this Church to anyone looking for a church.

The sense of community is so strong, you truly feel like and are family with the body of Christ. The Pastor and his wife have made me feel at home, have gone out of their way to check in on me and my family. They are not afraid to answer my questions, they tell me and show me the truth, and love me gently in the process. I absolutely recommend this church, if anything give it a try, open yourself to feeling God's presence, and you will be restored, renewed, and be given peace that passes all understanding. While God can meet me anywhere and anytime, He meets me there too, in a powerful way

There are lots of moms with kids of all different ages, usually 3-4 years and younger. All very nice and friendly. When my mom was dying and away from her home church in Seattle, I got in touch with this church and pre-arranged for a small family memorial when she died. All seemed OK. Until she died. Then, for no given reason, when I contacted the church to schedule a time for this to happen, it was all of a sudden not something they could accomodate... All we wanted was a brief send-off with a pastor saying a few words and allowing the family to speak. We would have gladly paid whatever fee might be involved and had no need for refreshments or communion or anything other than perhaps a half hour of time. Apparently, too much bother or something. The Baptist church by Cedarhome graciously agreed to help us out, even though my mom was a Lutheran. Sheesh. Reminded me why I give a wide berth to organized religion.
