Can you imagine what an exorcism feels like?…read more I dunno but it must be similar to the feeling you get when the aches, pains, and stiffness have been liberated from your body by Dr. Thor Gilbertson after an adjustment. I would call him The Mighty Thor even if Marvel hadn't already published a comic book of the same name. My wife was seeing The Mighty One for dry needling (IMS, that is - not needling as in teasing - I think) so I decided to go in for said adjustment as I thought it would be a better use of my time than reading People magazine in the reception area. I'm also a glutton for pain. (Not that a chiropractic adjustment is painful. More on that later.) It's my attraction to pain that forces me to sleep in the trunk of my car on my belly with a spare tire for a blanket. So needless to say, after a few months of this I needed to be un-pretzled. (I never know how bad it truly was until after I see the doc.) Dr. Gilbertson is witty, personable, and likes hockey. He totally places you at ease while he's snapping your neck. And no, it doesn't hurt. His admin person, Natasha, is also totally friendly and charming. She makes me feel a little bad that I'll never truly be that outgoing and captivating. All in all, a visit to Dr. Gilbertson's office could be the feel-good day of anyone's week. For the past few days I've been running backwards into walls just to give myself a legit reason to go back there. He does more than just adjustments and dry needling. He also does active release therapy and something called radial shockwave therapy. I'm not sure what that is but I picture it involving an Electric Chair. I'll look for one next time I'm there. In the meantime, I have walls to bang into and trunks to sleep in.

When I called to make an appointment, I was able to get one within a few days. The office is in Callingwood Market so free parking. Natasha is the woman that answers the phone, greets visitors, processes payments, and everything else. Every time I was there, she was always so pleasant even though she's busy. They also do direct billing with insurance companies. The first time I saw Dr. Gilbertson, he asked me about what was going on and I told him my issue. He used needles on my back and bottom. I'm used to acupuncture needles so I wasn't nervous or concerned of the process. I also read about IMS before the visit. He also said chiropractic treatment would not help me at this point and may even make it worse. I went a few more times and he put the needles in my leg as well and one time I felt it woke up my leg down to my foot! After my last visit, Dr. Gilbertson asked me if I felt better after the treatments and I did but it was temporary and didn't last long. This is where I felt Dr. Gilbertson cares about people first and patients second. He advised me what he thought I should do and told me if I wanted acupuncture in the future to go back. But he did not tell me keep coming back because he wanted my $85/treatment. I felt he genuinely cared about my well being even if that meant not seeing me again. He is a good and busy professional as there's a steady stream of patients coming in and going out. With so many health professionals, only wish we had more like Dr. Gilbertson around.

I had a groupon to use for acupuncture. I have had acupuncture many times before, so was looking…read moreforward to it. Well was I in for a surprise, it wasn't just acupuncture. After filling out my forms he decided to concentrate on the major areas of concern for this session which was my neck, shoulders, back, lower back and my glutes (bum cheeks). I first received a vigorous massage on those areas, the pressure hard. I loved it! Finally a massage where they work those muscles! I could literally feel the heat of his hands as he worked those areas, my back was hot! Than I received acupuncture, on those areas with a tens machine attached to it. He covered me up and left me for a bit to relax. Just as I was about to snore, he came in and than did cupping. I have been cupped numerous times and usually its about 6 cups. No cups were spared: my back, shoulders, neck, hips and bum were cupped! My cups over runneth! Cups with acupuncture and tens machine! The triple whammy! He covered me up and left me to be for a bit. Well I full fledged crashed and woke myself up with my snoring! After that was done, he wiped the areas with a warm wet cloth, gave a quick rub to stipulate the areas, had me flip over and turned down the lights. I got my toes cracked and my fingers as well (which if you never have done, you must.) So satisfying! lol . He gave a face rub, head massage and than my session was over. Will I be back?? Damn skippy I will be back! In two weeks! I walked out of that clinic like a new woman! Can't wait for my next session!

I'm also having a series of Accupuncture treatments for various injuries. I find them very effective. The doctor I saw was knowledgeable about my injury and worked the injured tendon very well. I made the appointment on recommendation of a friend who is also a patient of hers. I booked an appointment for my son just because he has a bit of a weaker immune system. The office is spacious and clean, with a large seating area with comfy chairs and an awesome plush carpet. My son couldn't resist taking a role across it plush carpet. They offer several services including chiropractic services message, acupuncture and physiotherapy. Despite the appointment being delayed a half hour I left her office feeling satisfied with the visit. Dr. Khamba really took the time to listen and asked the questions that needed to be asked. What she recommended were some simple vitamins and probiotics. She also recommended a food sensitivity test called IgG. Which I will let you all know is not covered by my health insurance plan and is a wee bit pricey. (Although well worth it from what I can tell from my research) Above all I really got the sense that she cares about her clients and has a passion for what she does. If you're considering becoming more proactive about your health I would definitely recommend a visit with Dr. Khamba. Her approach is mainly diet based. No voodoo snake oil stuff here. My friend who has a gazillion allergies and suffers from eczema and frequent illnesses has seen huge improvements in her health since seeing Dr. Khamba. And what's crazy folks even her eye sight has improved. I'm talking needing a new prescription for her glasses better. I hope my son will have a similar experience.

Paula always takes my concerns seriously and makes sure I am feeling good throughout the massage. I've definitely felt some big improvements in my shoulder pain since I started seeing her more regularly. The clinic itself is bright, clean and welcoming. All the front desk staff I've interacted with have been helpful and friendly. They have also been taking COVID protocols seriously throughout the past year. One bonus over past clinics I've visited is that they do direct billing to Blue Cross. No more having to submit my forms the next day. I chose this clinic because the location was convenient for me but I've kept returning because the service and experiences have been great.

Her work on my shoulder has been nothing short of amazing - it's not only improved my flexibility and relieved my pain, but the additional benefit of a fully relaxed/adjusted upper body seems to have shaved a full minute off my min/km pace on my runs - I'm hitting the 6:45 min / km range on my last run! (And that's amazing for a plus-50 desk job guy who only started running seriously about 5 months ago). After two sessions this week he suggested I get a massage (as I hadn't had one for a "few" years). I had a knot in my lower back that just wouldn't listen to his care. So Wednesday morning I called into their office and got in to see Keziah that afternoon. OH MY GOD!! She was awesome!!! Although Dr Fleck recommended all the massage therapists in his office, I was able to get her in short notice. It was the best deep tissue massage I ever had and she knew exactly how much pressure to apply. Where to apply it and for how long. I was able to dance my way out of the office that afternoon and still moving perfectly today. Because of Keziah I'll be able to golf on Friday with no concerns. So if anyone wants a recommendation for a massage therapist contact Baseline Chiropractic and Wellness Center and asked for Keziah Ragui. And a recommendation for a chiropractor would be Dr. Fleck.
