The pulled pork is the best I've ever had. The large sandwich is actually huge and the price is great

I don't give out a whole lot of 5 stars, but this place deserves it based not just on the food, but the value. We were participating in buying dinner for the minister that was a part of the Burnette Chapel Church of Christ ambush and his family. Both of his adult children live with him and his wife along with son-in-law, 2 teenage grandchildren and a young adult male they took in several years ago. The minister was my wife's youth minister when she was a teen as well and had become like family to her over the decades. We attended there up until a few years ago where I served as volunteer youth minister and one of the song leaders. So based on the number of people the meal needed to be substantial so we partnered with other friends to provide enough food to get them through a couple of days - the wife is still in rehab from open heart surgery following her being shot in the leg. Side note - had she not been shot, she may have died from an undiagnosed heart condition. I thought I would be able to purchase a Groupon or Local Flavor voucher for $30 for $15 at Bar B Cutie, but they had sold out. I get on their website - there pulled pork is $12.00 A POUND! I wanted to get some cole slaw as well, but it was $5 for 12 ounces...seriously?! I guess I have never eaten there without a coupon and I wasn't about to start now. I check other local prices. I am a fan of both Whitt's and Bob's - Bob's was a reasonable $7.00 a pound while Whitt's was $8 or $9. Several months ago I stopped and got a sandwich at Better Days and remember liking it very much. It was moist without the addition of any sauce at all. I check their prices - $6.36 a pound and a full pint of coleslaw for about $4. I wound up getting 2 pounds of meat, two coleslaw, sauces and a pack of buns AND a full pound of Lay's potato chips for $29! Not $29.46 or $29.99 - $29 EVEN. You see, the menu items are prices so that with tax they always come out to and even dollar amount - no "TAKE A PENNY LEAVE A PENNY" here. Just like before, the meat was very moist and flavorful. It had smoke taste, but not unbearably so. Sauces were thick. I did sample the slaw and I really liked it, especially with the pulled pork. I read a few reviews saying the man behind the counter was rude and argumentative - no where close to what I experience - he seem like a fun loving cut up kind of guy - "messing" with me, but not in an obnoxious way. Just seemed like a nice guy giving people a got deal on great food. Maybe they went in with a chip on their shoulder or just didn't have a sense of humor - don't know - wasn't there. He used his cheesy greeting, "How can I make your day better?" and when I left, "Have a better day!" Hey - I would probably come up with something similar. OH, Bar B Cutie would have cost me $32 and that was without potato chips, buns, tax or sauces - and I would have gotten less coleslaw. read more

Good bbq to go. Friendly service priced right. Great for an easy take out dinner. Got bbq beans and potato salad all was excellent.

Great BBQ for this area. I only wished they had a place to sit and eat. Kinfolks is second best. Don't waste your time on any other place. read more

Ok, the hotel I was staying at had a list of "Great" local eateries, mostly chains. I looked up BBQ and found Kinfolks BBQ. I got the sampler plate, after meeting the owner out by the smokers, he suggested it. Mac & Cheese was very good, Cole Slaw Fantasic, Cornbread great. Wings, Spare Ribs, Pork Chop, Smoked Chicken, Pulled Pork, All fantastic. The brisket had a great flavor but a little dry. Next time anywhere near Nashville I will be back there. Better Days made my day with wings smoked so tender and delicious, I was in wing heaven. Don't tell my mama, but the turnip greens are the best I ever had. We tried two kinds of sauce and I could eat them both with a spoon. For sure, this is my new favorite take-out place! So good! read more

Visited this place because of the reviews. I ordered the Rib plate, the brisket plate, turnip greens and 2 extra sauces. Ordered online and picked it up. When I got it home lfound I only had the extra sauce even though the online menu says sauce also comes with each plate. They said sauce does not come with orders. I'm from Memphis and have never heard of such! My second issue was the order of ribs. They were fat and greasy and fell apart in my hands. The fat was soft and gelatinous and didn't look fully cooked. We promptly took the plate back. They had enough nerve to say it was sinew and suppose to look like that. That meat was not edible! It would have made me ill. On top of everything, there was no apology and no suggested resolution. I didn't want anymore ribs and requested another brisket plate. Their attitude was severely lacking! Maybe we were treated this way because of our "race ". I will never spend a penny in that place and nor will anyone else that I can tell. Actually, the food was just not even okay! read more

The guys here seem super cool and the food is solid. We tried pulled pork, wings (they are black. literally. do not be alarmed), greens, mac-n-cheese, and several sauces. The mac-n-cheese is super creamy. The pork is moist. The wings are not nearly as overwhelmingly smokey as I thought they might be when I first saw them. We tried the Alabama white sauce, carolina gold, and house vinegar. I liked all but the house vinegar, but that's just a personal preference. It made my mouth twist up like a cartoon character. When I asked the guy behind the counter which was his favorite, he said "none.I like the XXX. It's not on the menu." He gave me some to take home. The shit is hot. The shit is delicious. I always enjoy everything I get from Better Days BBQ. I have been meaning to write a review and didn't, but my last visit made me commit. I just love their food. I keep saying that I will try different items on the menu but I am hooked on their sandwiches. The meat is so tender and flavorful. I'm also addicted to their red potato salad and green beans. Oh the greens and macaroni and cheese are the bomb! I can't say enough good stuff about this place except that the gentleman (I wish I got his name) behind the counter is a hoot. I enjoy trying out new BBQ joints. Better Days was a small, yet friendly place. I ordered a half a rack of ribs and a turkey sandwich. Both were great. The portions were generous. It was cooked just right. Not overdone, dry, or anything like that. The side of sauce was a good mix of sweet and spicy. I'll definitely be back to try the pork and brisket. I didn't care to try any sides. They do have bone treats for the fur balls in the family as well. Mine certainly enjoyed them. Looking forward to having "better days" soon. Updated after experiencing better days: I didn't care for the brisket. It's not what I would hope brisket would be or turn out. Now the wings are something you must try as they are like no other I've had. The fall off the bone smoked wings are memorable. Btw there $6 pork sandwich combo. So let me start by saying that I don't hate the barbecue. My issue is with the service. My wife and I purchased some wings and ate most of them in our truck. She went back in to ask for a to go box, as we had used the other box lid for our dressing. She asked if she could have the box, and he said no, not until I wait on these other customers of which there were several. Really? This guy is a meat smokin' master. Great BBQ, probably the best in Smyrna. The sides leave a bit to be desired tho - just get a bag of chips. Stopped here on the recommendation of web reviews. It is great! Pulled pork small sandwich is huge, and side portions generous. We were traveling with 10 of us, and showed up just at 11. They work like a well oiled machine and put up with the orders flying at them and the addition of sides after the fact. They took it in stride and threw out jokes from time to time. Having grown up in the South and Midwest but now living in NY, I always look forward to sampling BBQ restaurants when travelling south. Better Days BBQ did not disappoint. The pulled pork platter that I ordered had a good helping of pork along with two sides, coleslaw and baked beans, as well as three rolls and a pickle. The pork was well smoked; the taste of hickory present but it did not overwhelm the tender pork. The baked beans were excellent - sweet with strands of pork. The coleslaw was tasty and not drowning in too much sauce. All in all, an excellent take out place - would highly recommend. read more
