But if you're in Vermilion or have spent your summers there your whole life as I have, it is easily your favorite beach, even if it's not as big and glamorous as Northeast Ohio area beaches. I wouldn't recommend coming here during a "popular" time because it can be very overwhelming. I love this little beach because it's clean, well-maintained, and the water is nice to swim in. Once you get over the insanely uneven rocks on the way to the water, its soft sand. Wear water shoes if you have them. I love to bring a floatie and just cruise around in the water. In the background you'll find a grass hill which houses the local Vermilion Maritime Museum. I've never been in there, but imagine kids will love it. There's limited parking here, so be prepared to walk a little. The beach also has a little rinse-off station before you head to your car. Pack a cooler, chairs and towels and enjoy this cute little beach, a gem in Vermilion.

Even a smaller sections of play equipment for younger kids. Lots of benches and picnic tables to watch the kids or have a meal. There is also beach access walking down some large rock stairs. The beach is a decent size with lots of flat rocks. Beware of all the dead fish. Not sure if they get cleaned up during certain parts of the year but on our visit there were a lot. Still a beautiful view!

VYC is one of the oldest clubs in the area, I think its even pushing 80! Thankfully, it still looks great. The clubhouse is beautifully maintained and is a gorgeous event space. Some important things to note: there's no private pool or private restaurant at VYC, like most local area clubs. VYC is all about the quiet atmosphere, and its better that way. The indoor/outdoor seating areas of the clubhouse are great places to read, have a glass of wine and just enjoy the boats on the channel. VYC remains untouched by rowdy guests and excessive noise, which is a gem in itself. VYC embraces the vintage Commodore classiness of old-school Yacht Clubs. For guest docking, you can spend time at the VYC if your vessel is under 80 feet drawing 10 feet or less. Guests can have dock spots on the river wall or in temporarily vacant slips. If you're not a member, but looking for a charming town to dock and visit, definitely keep VYC on your shortlist!

They are nice people, but have no clue how to get things done right. I made the mistake of purchasing a new boat from Beaver Park marina. I had to take the boat back 10 times for repairs and most of the repairs were for the same issues. Some components on the boat never worked and still do not work. They said the components are just cheaply made and they couldn't do anything about it. However, when purchasing the boat, they insisted that the boat was a great buy with solid features and components. It is sad they are still in business and I feel for anyone who falls victim to them for service or buying a boat. Just note when you do buy from them you are on your own and there will be no support from Beaver Park. STAY AWAY, HORRIBLE.

In addition to dockage, they have a swimming pool, tennis court, on-site putt-putt course, large picnic area and ice cream shop. If it's a bad boating day, there are more then enough activities to keep kids occupied. Romp's itself is located on the Vermilion River, just minutes onto the lake. The location is perfect, and the cruise out of the marina is actually quite enjoyable--lots of good people and boat watching! The marina is also just a short walk/drive to beautiful downtown Vermilion, and to the nearby beach. If you're a hardcore boater, you'll be so happy to know that Romp's cares about every one of their members. They know everyone by name and boat, and are always super fast and communicative if an issue arises, or if they are assisting you with repairs. The owners can also be seen constantly zipping around this large property on their golf cart... don't be shy to say hello!

The Public Comfort Station in Exchange Park is closed during the pandemic but is a great idea for…read moreany city. Essentially, this is a well-maintained public restroom located in Exchange Park. This is a full restroom with fully functioning toilets. If you're at the nearby beach, this is basically the closest restroom (until the Main Street Beach comfort station finishes construction). It's not the gross public restroom you're probably thinking of. Dare I call this restroom...cute? The Comfort Station is the original Vermilion Police location dating back to 1912. It has an old-fashioned look to it, so if you pass it on the street, you probably won't immediately comprehend what it is. Exchange Park is a little gem in Vermilion, and the Comfort Station adds a nice necessity for those beaching, biking, etc. Its super clean and maintained well by the city. After about 5 calls and 30 minutes, Pier 619 came to get us and pull the busted boat back. The manager (I guess) was super rude, as if we caused the breakdown...um, ok...and said they would refund us but refused to give a receipt, so now we have to monitor our credit card. We get it, things break, but customer service should still be a priority. Luckily, the neighboring rental place called Dusty's had a boat available and were super nice and saved our day out. Would not go back to Pier 619
