He was a super nice guy as well. The day of the event he was professional, very flexible in the face of lots of cooks in the kitchen, clearly knew what he was doing, and really nice to work with. He knew how to compose shots and make them look great. But most important, the pictures came out wonderful! Finally, his fee was completely reasonable and appropriate to the occasion (unlike other photographers we contacted who said they had a minimum wedding fee whether or not it was a large, standard wedding event). We not only cannot recommend JPG, we would strongly caution against using them. In spite of planning together with the photographer and being clear about our intentions not to photograph the prep, we had to wait for them to set up after we were long ready. The 14 weeks from event to actual pictures were astonishing. Even more so after getting them and seeing just how little thought and effort went into their editing and "organization". Also - be prepared to be referred to your contract repeatedly. They will hold it up anytime you ask for something.

We worked together to come up with a price/package that met our needs and chose Matt Bender as our primary photographer. Our engagement session gave us a chance to get to know Matt and for him to know us. When the big day came, we felt very comfortable with him and he (along with 2 other photographers) did a great job managing our family and bridal party for group shots. Many guests commented that our photographers were awesome throughout the evening. This skill should not be overlooked when you are evaluating a wedding photographer! In the end, we were thrilled with the quality and variety of pictures. The photo journalistic style captured the true essence of the day and there were a lot of really fun shots. To top it off, all of JPG's wedding packages include a DVD or thumb drive of high-res images with personal use rights - which means you have full flexibility when it comes to albums and prints. You will probably spend more time with this person than any other vendor, and I am so glad we had the opportunity to get to know Lindsay. She was able to capture our experience of the wedding, as well as, all the wonderful moments we missed. We now have all the beautiful photos of the ceremony, formals and first dance, but also a priceless record of all of our friends and family who attended. She was able to do this because not only could she magically "disappear" when needed (she must have teleported around the ceremony), but is also very intuitive and can capture people's personalities. She was very professional and courteous through all our interactions in planning the shoot through emails and during our session. I will say if you want someone to go above and beyond, then Emcee Studio is the best choice. Washington DC has a wide array of places to shoot but many of those have rules and regulations. Minh did I can't imagine how many hours of research to help pick options for us and made it much easier. She is very flexible in making the best package work for us and open to ideas. During the shoot she was very creative with her style and moments which is why we choose her. I can say after looking through hundreds (not kidding) of photographers, she has one of the most unique styles. You will get photos that look beautiful yet so natural which is hard to find. There was very little stress on my fiancé and I throughout this whole process. She was on time, laid out the plan, and just overall very easy to work with. We booked Denis about 11 months ahead of time for our 9/9/17 wedding, along with an engagement…read moreshoot that we planned to schedule in the Spring of '17 when the weather was warmer (we signed the contract on 10/31/16). Three days after we booked him, I found out I had stage 3 cancer and would have to go through chemo, surgery, and radiation during the year leading up to our wedding. Since I already had my dress, we decided to scramble and pull together a wedding photoshoot so that we could have pictures before who-knows-what happened. So, we had the good fortune to have Denis take our wedding photos twice! Denis made himself available on a Sunday with only 2 weeks' notice to take our pre-chemo photos. He wore several layers of clothes so we could take pictures in the park on a 40 degree day in November. We were shivering, but the images were gorgeous. Denis plays with reflections, and depth, and light resulting in magazine-worthy shots. Leading up to the wedding day, he was communicative. We had a shot list and timeline worked out ahead of time, which he tailored for us to make sure we got maximum party time, instead of spending the entire cocktail hour taking photos. His style is so natural. The photos are gorgeous. A good mix of those beautiful, perfect, frame-ready shots, and candidly capturing moments throughout the day. He went above and beyond to get "that" shot. He's truly an artist, but also incredibly professional and caring. We couldn't be happier with him and his work.
