Every season, they handle the haul-out and bottom paint on my boat, and the quality of their work is consistently top-notch. Place is falling apart. Transient is super expensive . I wouldn't trust the quality of the fuel they sell. I'm convinced the owner is wringing every last penny from the place. Crooks. Place is a dump. Launched the boat I was buying 2 days before the deal even closed, informing neither me or the owner and then started charging me $172/day for dock space. Never met the crooked owner as the "Ship's Store" was always closed. Abondoned boats and rats abound. Never again. read more

Go any where else but here. Was quoted around $4k for engine work and given a bill for over $17k. Worst of all I had to have the boat towed because the didn't even repair the engine as they were supposed to. read more

In fairness to the owner, I should mention the improved service and facilities at BPM. The spacing problems with the finger docks occurred when the old wooden fingers were attached to a new main dock (spaces between fingers varied from 18' to 32'--I measured). A year later, the wooden fingers were replaced by new composite finger docks, and the spacing was corrected. This past season I was able to delay my launch date until I could get the bottom painted and the hull waxed, and I was allowed to keep my boat in a slip for free until May 15, when I transferred it to a mooring. I'd also like to state that I've always found the office secretary to be courteous and responsive. read more

We stayed here overnight for 4th of July weekend (Friday to Saturday) and it was a pretty good experience. When we arrived, there was no clear direction as to where we needed to dock, although we made a reservation and there was no one in sight to direct us. According to my mother, the woman in the office was very nice, but overwhelmed. Docking was a bit treacherous, as the layout of the docks are a bit tricky to navigate depending on which boats are where, but if you're skilled, you can manage without any on-deck help. The showers are decent, but not super fresh and clean. It's nice that they have them ! (Make sure you turn the lights on all the way for however long you'll be in the shower, as they are timed and will go out on you otherwise!) Not an awesome place to stay, but fine if you're traveling through for a night or two. read more

Worst experience with a Marina in 40 years of boating. Owners are total jerks. My engine quit on Sunday near bridge but I was able to float to Marina's dock. Good luck, right? I tried to raise marina on radio without luck. I walked up to office and lights were off and door locked. I called Beverly Harbormaster (good guy) and let him know what happened and told him I would come by in the morning to settle up and arrange for a tow. I called at 0800 and was accused of "theft" by the owner - the guy was unhinged. I explained the situation and he informed me that boat had been pulled from the water and would not be put in until I paid him $450. I paid the amount and had my local boatyard, Hill's Yacht Yard, pick it up and tow me up river. I've mentioned this experience to friends and colleagues. No one had anything positive to say about this place. Total jackass. read more

Hacks, plain and simple in almost all aspects of their business. I think they are trying, but the results are just poor. My boat was filthy after winter storage. Every single thing I paid them to including the simplest of small repairs or boat cosmetics, were not done right the first time. Mary at the front desk that answers the phone should not be in this business and she is the voice of the marina to the customer. If you want rack storage I would say they are OK and will do the job but do not use them for any repairs! read more

WARNING!! GO ANYWHERE ELSE!! I hope this review will save anyone from making the mistake I made by going to this marina last summer. My family owns a small speed boat that required work last year and unfortunately we chose Beverly Port Marina for what I was told would be an $89 diagnostic fee. After a few days, I received a call from one of the mechanics, John, who informed me the work on the outdrive would be expensive, but he hadn't finished the diagnostic yet. He asked if I wanted him to continue finishing the diagnostic, and I of course asked him to finish so I would know what the problem was. Two days later I received a call and was told the diagnostic was complete and they had a list of things that needed to be fixed, including a few that I had recently fixed! Also, instead of owing the $89 fee, I was told I owed over $1,000 for the diagnostic alone! The bill came to over $5,000 and the owner Frank told me he would stand by his work, but clearly he doesn't stand by anything that he says and I had more issues. When I picked up my boat and put it on the water, it stalled while increasing the speed to a certain RPM and overheated. I called Beverly Port Marina the following Monday and spoke with Frank informing him of the problems I was having. I asked if he could have someone take a look at the boat and Frank said if I returned with the boat, he would have to charge me for additional labor as they "didn't handle any work that pertained to the engine". Apparently the compression test on the Engine they completed isn't considered engine work to Frank. Frank is a flat out crook who clearly has no conscience. WORST BUSINESS EVER!!! The "$89" diagnostic fee is a flat out lie and they will run up a ridiculous bill that is 50x what it should be after lying about work they actually complete. read more

I too have had an horrible experience at Beverly Port Marina and with Frank. Today I got a letter from the small claims court in Salem notifying me of a pending court date with BPM. I look forward to it! The claim goes back to May 2010. In March of that year we asked BPM to pump out our gas tank so we could start the year with fresh gas. We got a bill for this service and paid it in full and in a timely manner. When the boat was launched I checked the gas level and the tank was 1/4 to 1/3 full just as I had left it that fall when the boat was hauled. I asked if they had added gas and the answer was they had not as yet. That was obvious as the gas was clearly not fresh. I told them that they had not done what we already had paid for and they, or Frank as I was told, had an invoice that they insisted was evidence that the pump out was completed. I had them do it again and was charged a second time. What I heard next from them bordered on the absurd. Not physically possible. The boat is a 30ft sailboat with an Atomic 4 gas engine, The gas tank is a stainless steel cylinder suspended above and to the stern of the engine. It is positioned fore and aft to the boat with the rounded sides of the tank at each side of the boat. The tank is horizontal to the boat so level with the deck. The tanks capacity is 25 to 30. They removed 10 to 12 gallons of gas that day. So imagine what the gas and tank would look like sitting level in the water. Here it comes; Frank said that on dry land the boat was positioned at such an angle that they could not get to all the gas. At what angle could the boat possibly be on dry land that a flexible hose going straight down into the tank not reach all the gas? Even if the boat was standing on it's bow or stern if you could get all the gas out with the equipment they deploy -- the flexible tube - assuming you had a cherry picker to give access to the tanks in flow nozzle. Just an absurd rational on the part of Frank. Clearly the job we paid for in March was not done. Also, the small claim's document asserts that I have been contacted numerous times about paying up. An absolute falsehood. I had not heard a peep from BPM about this and just assumed that they realized how utterly stupid Frank's claim was. And even if they had done what they claimed they did in March, why would they charge me again for completing a job that clearly was not properly done? Interesting, the staff is ok but they also think Frank is less than honest about his dealings. Love to see any other comments from those who have crossed paths with Frank.. Chris read more

If I could delete the single star I would. I bought a new pilothouse boat with armstrong outboard engine bracket and yamaha 4 stoke engine from them and they cheap charlied it by putting an hydraulic steering system in that could not handle a larger boat. I now know they reduced the width of the slips that I rented for a season only to be able to leave or enter the slips during mid tide. I attempted to have them fix the steering (unresponsive) under warranty and all they did was charge me and say nothing wrong and perfectly ok to back out of slip without bow control. I complained and get zippo. I waited til I got out of the hellhole and paid for new mechanic to check and found they did not use the right teleflex hydraulic pivot cylinder. I paid $1500 to get fixed and they do not stand behind their work or name or product. I love the boat and shall vigorously seek resolution by legal means available no matter how long it takes. Used the rack service and indoor storage last year 2014. Poor experience Bird poop on the boat every time it was launched Foot prints across the deck Only launched twice all summer by the time requested. Plenty of notice given. Should have asked in advance, No fresh water hull rinse before re racking Owner discontinued launching on Sundays later in the summer. Not cool!!! Mary in the office was very nice! On the plus side. Reasonable fuel prices and access to Salem sound. read more

I fueled up here today. A 4' piece of fuel dock rub rail is missing and lying on the dock. There are visible rusty nails where the rub rail belongs. The fuel dock is very worn and shabby looking. There is no hose to wash down any spillage. The bags of ice are frozen solid and the bags break when u try and break up the ice ( ice bags are old?) Avoid this fuel dock if you can, it has really gone down hill. read more

You want a story of someone taking full advantage of someone else's misfortune? Look no further than the Beverly Port Marina. My wife and two-year-old son were taking a spin in Salem Sound in our 13-foot whaler on a perfect Saturday when the sky turned black along the horizon. We sped back toward our slip in Danvers but it was impressive how quickly the storm overcame us. By the time we passed Beverly Port Marina, it had turned to almost hurricane-like conditions with rain as thick as hail and flying in sideways it was difficult keep your eyes open. The lightning was everywhere and closing in. My wife screamed for me to pull into the nearest marina so we tied up at Beverly Port and I talked to the attendant who said it would be fine to wait it out there. He closed up the office and sped off in his car leaving us huddled by a coke machine under an overhang. We found a better shelter across the street and got a taxi back to Danvers. After dropping my wife and son off at home, I returned for the boat two hours later to find it had been hauled out of the water. A new attendant greeted me with a bill for $240. $240 dollars when someone was caught in a bad situation and just needed a Good Samaritan? The boat was probably full of water from the storm and needed to be drained, but if the roles were reversed I definitely would've done it pro-bono. I couldn't stomach charging someone $240 for a minimal amount of work when they'd already had a pretty rough experience and needed help but I guess everybody's different. It's probably indicative of the money-hungry, opportunistic character of this business. I've never done business with them intentionally but given my experience there, I'm not surprised by the other reviews here. read more

Frank Launched my boat which was stored at Port in the middle of March during a snow storm so he could "get it out of the way" - No real notice, just a phone call prior to launching to my house while I was at work. Problem was, seacocks were out as they were getting replaced and refitted. We still had months of time to finish. Storage paid until May. My wife called me at work and I headed down to Port marine right away to find my boat partially sunk. Frank never checked boat once. Didn't care. electronics and engine all took salt water. He claimed he was going to take of it. He simply had one of his boat yard guys hose it off and towel dry boat -I found out by asking them personally. I made it a legal issue, and in the small print it states boats can be launched anytime any reason. So the Frank got a way with ruining my boat. He is lawyer, and shifty. read more

Avoid keeping your boat there. I was warned but did not heed the warnings because the managers there are very friendly. I stored it there for 2 winters (paid up for inside storage) and paid for a slip for the summer slip - very reasonably priced. The first year when I went to take my Chris Craft Launch 28 out the battery was dead; they splashed it and left the battery switch on and it drained. Not fun with 7 peeps waiting to go for a boated and no one around to jump it. The next year on the first trip out the boat ran fine.. until we went to anchor at an island. Turns out someone stole my stainless steel, custom anchor (about $1200) and I guess were nice enough to replace it with a danforth that looked like it came off a 13ft boston whaler. I have small kids and am thankful i did not get in trouble out at sea with that little shit anchor with kids on board, woful have been a big problem for that little anchor to hold a 7500 lb boat in any type of rough seas. It was obvious an employee stole my anchor for their own boat or for resale... however they took ZERO responsibilty. read more
