The characteristics that you should look for in a vet and veterinary clinic are the same ones you…read moreshould look for in a doctor and a doctors office: caring, empathy, support, knowledge, communication and the ability to meet with a professional both for routine and urgent care. North Florida Animal Hospital has all this and more in abundance. Our cats have been using their services for over 10 years. And each time we have been back for a scheduled checkup we feel like family who have come back for a visit. The reception and technical team are friendly and efficient. And the vets are knowledge, caring and personable. Dr Steele had cared for our cats for years, and it is clear that she not only loves her job, but that she also loves her patients. When one of our cats died a few years ago, her sadness and compassion were evident. Now that our second cat is having issues, at the age of 17, we have again turned to her for advice and assistance. She treats our cat like he was her own and has made sure that we know exactly what is happening. In fact, she is the one who has called to tell us lab results and she's taken the time to meet with us when we brought him in for overnight treatment. We trust her, the other vets, and the team with the most vulnerable members of our family. And they could not be in better hands. I'm so glad that they are the team who takes care of, and is now caring for, our pets.

At this time as we speak I have been waiting in my car for 25 minutes for the syrupy voice on the phone to make good on her promise to come out and get him, in case his cough is contagious. Sio many people either have told me to switch vet offices, or they never heard of this place.

I cannot overstate how much I appreciate this vet office. My dog had teeth extracted today. I went…read morein and said, "Can we please, like, write in capital letters 'NO GABAPENTIN' on her file because she has a bad reaction?" And they did! No placating, no empty promises. She took a pen and wrote it. It was incredibly validating. Also, they accidentally overcharged me for something, and THEY called ME to alert me to this. I would've never noticed. They alerted me and credited my account. They're so honest! 10/10 recommend this practice. Couldn't ask for more.

WARNING: If you have any anxious breed or dog at the vet do NOT see Patrick Vickers (pictured)…read more Patrick Vickers shouldn't be a Vet is he's not willing to work with heavily sedated anxious dogs who deserves to not be dismissed by impatient and unwilling doctors. The solution is always more sedatives, but even when my dog was heavily sedated on two medications and could barely walk up the stairs all day, Patrick Vickers dismissed us. He heard one small bark form my heavily sedated muzzled dog who was just frightened and shivering in a corner. He refused to care for him or even attempt to walk anywhere near my dog for no real reason. The third time with little to no attempt. Please know I will do everything in my power to let people with pit bull mixes and anxious dogs know they should NOT see Patrick Vickers. Do not waste your time it has been months of constant attempts at getting basic routine care only for your dog to be discriminated against. Please learn and do better because the one who suffers the most will be your poor dog.

I was so blessed to have been referred to Dr. Drygas the Director of this veterinary practice. His surgical skills are 2nd to none and his bedside manner thruout the process was full of smiles and reassurances that my dog Beanie would be in the best of hands. He was correct! The staff from the front office to the vet techs in the clinic were the best!!! They were friendly and caring from the ACL clinic I went to, in order to learn about the surgical procedure, to the last post-op visit we had yesterday 60 days after her surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Drygas and his clinic for any emergency or surgical procedure you might be even considering.

BEWARE of Capital Veterinary Specialists "cancel culture" & Rehab Service…read more I am writing this review to create an awareness of my "cancel culture" experience with Capital Veterinary Specialists (CVS) in Tallahassee, Florida. Unfortunately, there is one particular person working in the CVS rehab services who has done the following: With rehab services, I had requested laser therapy only (which had been done previously) and not the water treadmill as my senior dog had recently been diagnosed with heartworm disease. My primary vet had told me to limit my dog's activity due to heartworm disease. Yet this particular person in rehab still put my senior dog on the water treadmill despite my communication against it from advice from my primary vet. You can imagine my shock when she brought back my dog soaked and terrified. My dog is also scared of water aside from the fact that she could have thrown a clot being recently diagnosed with heartworm disease and then being forced to exercise in the water treadmill. When I respectfully told this rehab person of my dissatisfaction of putting my dog in the water treadmill against my wishes, she then turned around and smeared my name to the hospital director who then banned me from the entire practice at CVS which I did not become aware of until almost a year later. This was very heart breaking since I wanted to continue using the other vet specialty services at CVS in Tally since there is no other vet specialists close by to where I live. After I was banned from all CVS services from the above incident, I tried to reason with detailed emails with the CVS hospital director (who only deals with people via email ) and unfortunately she protected this particular rehab person's mistake. I had even requested to meet with the owner of CVS which was ignored. Keep in mind that I never received any communication banning me from CVS services. I found out by accident about a year later when I tried to make a new appointment with a different service. This issue caught me off guard and put me in a terrible situation trying to get additional help with a chronic issue with a senior dog of mine. Therefore, I wanted to make everyone aware that the culture of CVS (at least with the hospital director and rehab services), did not like the fact that I was dissatisfied with rehab services when they mistakenly put my dog in the water treadmill against my implicit wishes. Due to this event, the rehab person was never corrected rather I was banned/cancelled in that I cannot use any of the other vet specialty services or even the vet chiropractor, all of whom I have had good experiences with. This puts a hardship on me and my pets since there are no other vet specialty services in the area where we live plus, we have limited primary vet services in the area where we live. I hope no one else has to deal with CVS "cancel culture" or with a moody rehab person who does not want to receive respectful feedback when she overrides an owners' wishes keeping the health of your fur kid in mind. It is scary to know these days that you cannot even give the feedback needed that is respectful and polite to a person or business especially if it involves a mistake they made. It is also sad when a business does not thrive on constructive feedback to grow rather becomes a part of the "cancel culture" where if they don't like what you say then they will completely ban you from their services.
