The Bexley Public Library is a beautiful historical building that somehow seems bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. I love coming here to get work done because it's cozy and relatively quiet, even after school lets out. There is an auditorium for special presentations, and workshops. A plus for me is that even though this library is smaller than many of the Columbus Metropolitan Library locations, the diversity of the books and authors is vast! If you have the app you can request books this location has as well as through interlibrary loan. You can also listen to ebooks and keep track of the books and resources you currently have checked out. One of my favorite things here is that the library keeps track of what you have read and lets you know how much money you have saved by utilizing the library instead of purchasing the books yourself. I spend about three days a week here while waiting for my daughter at work. It's a beautiful library! The big issue I have are the numerous people who are in the quiet reading room on a phone call on speaker phone or just talking on the phone in the library period. It would be great if they would take a phone call outside! read more

I ordered a audio book and went to pick it up. Because of COVID-19 the employee had to bring it to my car. I parked in their parking lot and there were designated spaces to park. I called the number on the sign and told whoever answer my name and space number and in no time they brought me out the audio CD! Very easy!! read more

A beautiful library with very knowledgeable staff. Moving to Columbus I haven't had a chance to get a library card so I opened my account here. The staff was helpful in getting me settled as far as the library cards concern, and they had a decent selection of Stephen Hawking's books. When I looked into the database of this particular library they didn't have a lot of variety of books but it probably is because of where the library is located that they may not have a wide variety of titles. In any case, I was able to find the books I was looking for as far as science and art so if you need a book or are new to the neighborhood, you could come here first. I used to come here often, probably 20 years ago. It was a great library then. Came back today, and it is still great. This time we came for a book reading and signing by a friend of mine. It was held in the auditorium downstairs, which is perfect for something like that. The rest of the library looked great, and has obviously been updated since I was last there. Staff were excellent the whole time; we interacted with three or four staffers in various situations, and they were amazingly helpful and friendly. I won't wait 20 years to come back. I liked how spacious this library turned out to be when I walked inside. However, they don't carry many titles that I wanted to take out nor were they willing to offer inter-loan library service. The young lady tried to offer me a completely different book and author which was useless as I needed the specific title/author that I was looking for. Found that really odd. So it deterred me from going back there for specific topics I need to research on. Other than that, the parking is either a hit or miss - their parking space fills up fast even in the middle of the day (lunch time, for example). I hope that they'll fill up with more variety of books since it's so close to my home. Again, the space inside is really impressive. It's also clean. read more

It had been a while since I visited this place and the building is as nice as I remember. The setup is great with a sense of small reading rooms available to the bibliophile. The kids section is downstairs which is a good place to keep the loud ones. The bathrooms is right outside the kids section downstairs and comes equipped with stools. My one knock to this place is that this place is so quiet and my daughter's voice seemed to carry though the place. I am used to Hilliard that seems to have better acoustics. They do have a nice play area for the the little ones with dinosaurs, puzzles, and alphabets. I wish they placed a few adult worthy books in this area so I could of read a little while she played. My favorite local library! I've been a member for over 10 years and there are several reason why I like it so well. One, it's really nice inside. Two, the staff is friendly. Cute branch with some charm to it. Has a quiet study room as soon as you come in but it only has two tables. A few reading chairs are in there though. Has some tables off to the right once you get a bit further in, and about 6 tables along the back wall. It's pretty quiet back there but the internet is spotty. I ended up needing to use my phone as a hot spot. After 3:30 school is out and a lot of kids come by and have tutoring. Which I can't complain about but it's no longer quiet (nothing that ear plugs didn't take care of) and I saw lots of people walk by hoping to find a table and not finding one. Bathrooms are good and in a convenient location. There's a vending machine for drinks. It's well lit but a bit chilly in the winter. So as a medical student (hardcore quiet studier) I'll come back if I'm free on a week day but I'll likely go elsewhere for after 3:30 and weekends. And I wouldn't be surprised to go and not find a study table. read more

We love this library! It's awesome for my kids. The kids area, which is downstairs, is a blast for littles. My daughter loves coming here to play and get a big stack of books to take home. The librarians are all so sweet and fun and knowledgeable. There's always awesome events happening here too. Conveniently, there's a couple coffee shops across the street so why not grab some books and a coffee and make a great day for yourself?! read more

You ever have those times where you have a memory, and you just know everything associated with it, from the smell, to the carpet, to the antique feel of the chairs? That is how this library is for me. It is so charming in that it hardly has changed over the years, they still have the room where I spent most of my pre-school years making arts and crafts and having books read to me... The selection of books is outstanding, let alone the options for a smaller and independent library to have so many movies, books on tape, and CDs.. Truly it is a gem. It's kind of nice to sit in the catalog room and flip through the Bexley High School yearbooks from the early 1900's, I found the dude that lived in my house in 1919! He is scary looking. But it was still exciting! This library has won awards, it is the library of libraries, where some have tried to take a jump to technology, they keep it focused on the basics. I love that. I also love that as soon as my voice is above a whisper I still get shushed by the librarians. read more

If you do not already have a library card to the Bexley Library- get one. Traveling east on Main Street one could pass by it easily believing it simply was a part of Capital University. But trust me folks, you WANT to stop in. The Bexley Library staff alway have a smile ready and waiting for customers and are very helpful. They have a huge selection for being a single solitary library (versus a conglomeration of multiple libraries across the county). Twice now they did not have a book I was looking for so they bought it and put me first on the list to check it out! Their chairs are comfortable, computers rarely have problems and their programing and community involvement is stellar! Helpful staff, good movie section and graphic novels section. Good website with ability to reserve material. NOT for quiet study. People come into an area, see people studying quietly and proceed to talk/discuss stuff loudly. Very frustrating!! Librarians are loud too. While walking around showing guests book locations etc. they speak very loudly. No effort is made to be quiet. The library has a quiet room but there are only two tables in there and lots of chairs. That room needs more tables. So library is good for borrowing material, casual reading and talking loudly to your friend next to people who are studying quietly but quiet study is impossible. read more

A small independent library across the street from the Bexley Cup O Joes. The staff is amazingly nice and they explained that this library is not connected to the Columbus Metropolitan Library system so my CML card won't work but I can sign up for a Bexley card even though I live in Columbus. Voila! I now have a Bexley Library card and can check out books there. read more

So, after volunteering here for three months and finishing library school, I can safely say that, though it has been stuck in the realm of "we've always done it that way" for a long long time, the Bexley library is on the track to becoming a great library. The director, Rachel Rubin, has a vision for the library, and is empowering her employees to come up with more and better ways to serve the information and entertainment needs of the community of Bexley, and the improvements just in the past half year are evident. The reading room to the right of the entry is constantly being stocked with new materials, old and outdated materials are being removed from the collection, and improvements are being made to the technology and resources available to the public. I'm looking forward to seeing how the library grows, adapts, and changes over the coming years. read more

This is the best public library that I have ever been to. I actually live in New Albany, but I work as a nanny in Bexley. Everyone here is so friendly, the book selection is great and well-organized, and the children's programs are excellent! We regularly attend the preschool story time on Thursdays, and the children's librarian is great with kids, very kind and patient. I would highly recommend attending these programs even if you don't necessarily live in Bexley. read more

I love the fact that I have a good library less than a mile away from my home. Being a bookworm, having the Bexley library as well as a Columbus branch close by is pure heaven! Everyone here is always friendly, and there's a very good selection of books. Not the best (I mean, it can't compare to the ENTIRE collection of the ENTIRE C-bus Metro Library system.) but VERY respectable for a city of this size. I can only comment on the looks and the auditorium downstairs, but I really liked it here! The building is huge and spacious. Everything feels right for a library, nice and quiet and warm and comfortable! The auditorium was a long, strange path from the main entrance, but it was a nice big room to meet in. They have a great selections of movies here.Even foreign flicks. It is close to our home, So that is definitely a bonus. I really admire the exterior of the building, Not to mention the cool main entrance (door) - You will see what I mean. I received terrible service at the Bexley Public Library, yesterday. For the second time in a row, my reserve items were not on the shelf. The first time around they had no explanations as to what happened to them and I had to ask to order them again. This time, I took time out of my day, dealt with traffic & parking to get there & pick up my reserve & couldn't find it. There was a petite woman with short blonde hair behind the circulation desk not doing anything, so I went to her with my problem. Not only did she not bother to help me look for my reserve, but also she blew me off & suggested I go to the reference desk (which was busy & where I had already waited quite awhile, when I saw her at circulation) to have them order my item, again. I didn't have time to do that & figured I'd just reorder from home. When I logged on to the library's site from home, it stated that the item I didn't find was, indeed, there. I called to confirm (before wasting even more time traveling there) and the person told me they had my item at the circulation desk. It would have taken that lady two minutes to look for the item I wasn't finding, but she just couldn't be bothered. Now I have to waste more time, energy & petrol to pick up an item that (if history is any predictor) may or may not be there. read more
