This is a review for parents with kids…read more I am talking about West Valley Dance Academy. I've taken my now close to 4 year old to this studio for the past 6 months, and every day has been great! The school is owned and operated by Lisa Tran. Lisa is a mother and former dancer herself, so she understands both. Lisa teaches many classes herself, and from what I've witnessed, all the kids learn + have a lot of fun. My daughter's main teacher is Kate Newham -- and my daughter loves her! She actually asks before we go if we'll be seeing Miss Kate. Miss Kate is so kind and understanding of all the little kids needs. Many of them, as we all know, just say what's on their mind at any time. Kate always listens, but directs the kiddies back to dance. Also. At no time do the kids just run around and do what they want. Miss Kate has the innate ability to reach them, and keep them dancing. It is a wonderful sight to see, One of the other hi-lights of the school is the ability to watch your children dance, even if you are at home. Lisa sends out a link allowing one to watch their kids progress in the world of dance. Many times, I am watching my daughter from the waiting room, while my wife is viewing from work. Oh yeah, parents aren't allowed in the actual dance studio. You just wait in the comfortable lobby, and watch from there. I should also mention, if one day your little one has to miss a class, they can easily make it up another day They also sell dance shoes, and clothes, in case your tiny dancer needs it. Everything one might need is right there at the studio. I know this school takes older kids too. So don't worry about that. They also put on recitals throughout the year for the bigger kids. Can't wait for my Callie to be in one herself. I usually try to put price of classes, but since my daughter is still in the toddler stage, I can tell you that it is more than reasonable. During the pandemic, masks were required for every person who was in the building. As of right now, masks are optional. I can guarantee, if things change, Lisa will be at the forefront, and mask wearing will be mandatory once again. What I tell people looking for a dance class, is to call West Valley Dance Academy, and request an intro class, so you can see if it works for you and your family. They have all genres of dance, but it always felt they prioritized the competition dance team, which isn't our thing. As a result, when we moved to the San Fernando Valley, we decided to stick with a more traditional Ballet school academy environment. No competition team type places. We ended up in downtown LA. But during covid, we really had some challenges and my son wasn't able to get back in a studio for many many months. I found California Dance Academy on social media and saw that they were doing Nutcracker outside. I emailed them and ask if my son could take class with them for a while until our school opens again. They were dancing outside and following all covid precautions until case numbers came down and county restrictions allowed indoor classes again. They followed everything to a T and kept dancers safe. No cases were spread within the studio. Everyone we met here was fantastic. No drama. And truly solid classical ballet instruction. I'd have previously written this place off because we were looking to get away from competition environment, but California Dance Academy treats both classical ballet and competition as equally valuable. They develop strong dancers and train kids up in the area the kid wants to go. Their focus is art and solid instruction. My son's school downtown reopened and he was genuinely sad to leave California Dance Academy. But I have to write this review and just say that whether it is classic ballet or more commercial style dance you are looking for, this is a great school with great people. They are helpful, transparent, kind, and honest people.

We have been to a few dance studio but this is the best studio by far. This is not only fun for the little ones but at the same time they will get the technique training. My current review is a reiteration of the high quality dance training provided by Miss Malorie and her staff, and the encouragement and development of each child who goes to the studio to find his/her inner dancer, whether that dancer takes a couple of classes a week for exercise and personal development, or goes on to train and compete on the competition team. Dancers compete in competitions, attend dance conventions, and have opportunities to perform at various venues. Both of my girls have learned and grown so much over the past few years at CCPA. My older one dances successfully both on her high school dance team and on the CCPA team; the younger one is establishing her skills and self-confidence as she heads toward middle school in her final year in elementary school. This is an excellent dance studio with a high return in value. We have been with CCPA for 7 years and I can't recommend it enough!

I had to switch back and forth with a stranger which was awkward and made it even harder for me to pick up the moves. I was, after all, a beginner in a beginner's class. I would consider returning if the studio committed to not overbooking the equipment. For example, a Pilates studio would never ask you to share a Reformer with a stranger, and The Vertitude should hold itself to the same standards as other gym studios with special equipment.

We had no choice but to drop our son off at his grandparents daily where he was not focusing or learning at all. We were left in a bind and then received a recommendation by a friend to join Kids Club with Miss Jodi. After my initial conversation with Jodi and visiting the studio we immediately fell in love. She worked with us on putting together an affordable weekly package for my Son to attend full time. The studio is extremely clean and the desks are evenly divided for social distancing. Each child has their own designated table where they can keep their school items on their desks. There are several employees walking around assisting each child. My Son has come such a long way by being with Releve! Jodi really takes her time to help him learn and understand his school work. The other teachers are also amazing with helping him complete his school work and homework daily. He loves all his friends at Releve and they are able to play together in a very safe way. I really don't know what I would do without Jodi and the other amazing ladies (and gents) here. My daughter will soon be starting dance classes here as well. Thank you guys so much for helping my son during this crazy time! If you need a place to help your child learn during distance learning, this is the place! The dance teacher was often late. We were charged around $50 for a costume for the recital and our…read morechild was given used clothes from a tote that did not match her peers. When we addressed this with the owner she offered no remedy. During the dance recital another parent physically assaulted our child by grabbing her arm and the dance studio did little to nothing to address this and wouldn't even provide concrete info about who assaulted our child. That parent should have been removed from the facility. We will be filing charges. The studio owner was rude and indignant. I would NOT recommend you use this studio unless you want to pay a bunch of money for your child to learn next to nothing and then be charged for used and raggedy clothes (we had to have our daughter wear her outfit from last year from a different studio despite being charged). The staff will speak disrespectfully to your children and make no efforts to address concerns. They also charge $20 a ticket to go to your child's recital and won't let you record because they want you to pay for their recording. I'm disgusted that my child was put in old used clothes, treated horribly by staff, and assaulted at her recital with no action taken. Your child is not safe at this studio. They don't care about the safety and well-being of their students. They only care about getting as much money as they can without providing hardly any actual instruction.

Two months into their program--after a cast list had already been posted--they attempted to collect additional payments from already-enrolled families, despite there being no prior contract or communication outlining these supposed fees. They also demanded that students come up with their own costumes, and even threatened to pull kids from the production if payments weren't made. Anyone with even basic theater experience knows that threatening to remove children from a show two months into rehearsals is outrageous and unacceptable. Everything--fees, responsibilities, schedules--should be communicated clearly in writing upfront, not sprung on families halfway through. They added extra rehearsals last minute and tried to charge for those too. After enough parents complained, they finally took over the costume responsibilities. But again, none of these requirements were mentioned at sign-up. While we're incredibly grateful for the teacher (who was absolutely wonderful), the owner and office staff were completely disorganized, unprofessional, and frankly, rude.Mothers were berated for wanting to sit in on their young children (ages 6+ and up), being mic'd under their clothing and were screamed at for wanting to monitor that because it was "closed rehearsals" It gets worse. After deciding we'd never return due to the awful experience, we noticed a charge for another session we never signed up for. When we kindly reached out to have it removed, we were told that "Musical Theater" was now considered a year-round commitment, even though: * That was never communicated. * Our child hadn't attended in months. Did they call to check on our child's absence? Nope.They just charged us. In this economy. Don't be fooled by their polished social media. Behind the scenes, it's just smoke and mirrors. On one performance day, they called the cast for a 3:30 arrival time--and no adult staff showed up until 5:15.Fourteen children were left under the supervision of just two volunteer moms, and the office admitted they "forgot to call" the rest of us to let us know that no one would be in attendance, nor that they needed help. Just kids expected to be left alone. Left to run their own warmups and choreography. So not only are they charging families absurd fees without consent, but they are also putting children's safety at risk while being paid to not even show up. It reeks of: "I want to run a children's theater company but have zero idea how one is supposed to be run--and I'm counting on you not knowing either." Spoiler alert: I was raised in one of the top youth theaters in the country. This ain't it. Just chaos.Chaos, dishonesty, and a complete disregard for families. PATRONS BEWARE.

We've been with Elite since 2016 between my two daughters, who both started dancing at age 3. Our…read moreoldest has moved on to other interests, but our 7-year-old continues with ballet and loves it. I've watched Elite grow from a smaller studio into the powerhouse it is today. Elite is an excellent dance studio, from day one through their very polished recitals. It's important to note that this is not a cutesy/playtime type of studio. Dance is a discipline, and so dress code and presentation are taken seriously. For first-timers, that might feel a little intimidating, but there's a reason behind it. Hair and makeup need to be spot-on for recitals, because there's always a chance your cute 3 or 4-year-old might get on stage and just stand there! But guess what? They'll look fantastic doing it. And then, year after year, you'll see their confidence and ability grow. As a parent, you will need to stay on top of recital packets to know who/what/where/when, and I find Elite to be very thorough in the material they send out, or if you simply call them ahead of time. Another perk.. they have a professional photographer who takes photos on stage and backstage at shows/recitals for FREE. As well as a videographer, which is very much appreciated. The owner, Toni, taught my oldest years ago and is fantastic, both as a teacher and as a business owner. Neither of my girls have ever been on team, but both have always enjoyed their classes. The teachers are wonderful with age-appropriate instruction (shout out to Miss Princess with the littles) and technique. My 7-year-old only takes one ballet class currently, yet she could not be more excited to be performing in The Nutcracker for her second year in a row. Needless to say, we love Elite!

I like that they allow for makeup classes and you can also take a class at a different location if you can't make your regularly scheduled session (we had to do this once and it was super easy to setup). I'm not a fan of the online account, could just be a me-thing that I've had issues with it every time.
