You'll come (huh huh) to take a picture of the sign on the window…read more You'll stay because the stuff inside the store window will enthrall you. That's the way it happened when we were moseying around the highway in Lincoln City near the house we rented. I'm not sure what I expected to find in a place called Red Cock, even though the obvious answer might be something I wouldn't want to dwell on. Turns out, the name is a clever business strategy. Lure the people in with the strength of a naughty phrase, then make them sing your praises by selling all sorts of unique and well-priced trinkets once they're there. Seriously, dank nudie bars of the world, take note! There were racks and racks of earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and other kinds of jewelry, including two-dollar rings at the counter made from the repurposed wiring of dismantled circuit boards in Guatemala and matching earrings and necklaces made with preserved coffee beans. Also, shelves with handmade soaps, small precious stones, chopsticks adorned with Transformer-like characters, and just about any gift made from unusual materials by local and less-local artisans. In the back of the Red Cock (har har) were closets full of clothing, from fluttery beach shawls to wool-lined winter coats and articles to clothe you from the top of your head to the balls (balls!) of your feet. And even though nothing appeared to be outrageously priced, I could have easily forfeited a paycheck in there. "But wouldn't it be awesome if they had T-shirts that say 'The Red Cock?'" you might wonder, as did one of my friends. With that question, the store proprietress directed my friend to the sale rack in the rear (heh heh, this is too easy), and my friends doled out forty more dollars to become the owners of lime green cotton shirts silk screened with crimson-colored lettering with none other than the store's name and feathery namesake. That's right. I'm getting hitched to a member of the newly-instituted Cock Pack. The Cock Pack's influence is so strong that one of its founding members - my Crime Partner - and I were walking down to the beach later that day, and Crime Partner was proudly wearing his Red Cock shirt. A man stopped him to ask where he had gotten the shirt and gave Crime Partner a compliment on his attire before walking away. A few hours after that encounter, Crime Partner and I were outside a grocery store when we saw the same guy . . . wearing his own lime green Red Cock T-shirt. The woman behind the counter presiding over all Red Cock business understood the alliance she was instrumental in outfitting when she met my friends and me. She told a couple of us that we had a spirited bunch of guys. And when I made a lame joke about breaking their spirits, the woman at the Red Cock was like, "Yeah, uh huh, good luck with that." Woman in charge of the Red Cock (yeah, I know) -- consider yourself an honorary part of the Cock Pack. Lack of fowl friends and certain bits of anatomy don't matter.

After having a very mishap purchase on Christmas Eve that did not go through and was canceled without my consent online, the manager could do nothing for me, but tell me to go to corporate which did nothing and left me back where I started an item unpurchased after all, I went through to purchase it in the store on Christmas Eve. I am going to go out of my way not to come back here unless it is something small and quick where I don't need help. It's unfortunate because I've come here for years since it's very close to my house and I have bought a lot of my gardening tools, my drill, my lawnmower and various items here to support the store, but they are not supportive of me. So I have chosen to go to Ace South where people are kind and understanding they don't laugh at you for your shortcomings on knowledge about Tools, manuals, or items. I didn't grow up learning to do handyman work. I've had to train myself how to do things. And it would be nice if I went to a store where people respected my learning process. However, I don't get that here. With the exception of one person who is very nice. I can't say too much about the other people. It seems they are very close minded and not open to trying to help someone. I've lived in the community over six years. I think I've earned my right to get that now.

I own rental properties in Lincoln City and have spent a significant amount on furniture and…read moreappliances at Roby's--especially at the LC store. Unfortunately, many of the products have not held up to reasonable standards. Sofa cushions lost all support within 1-2 years, despite costing over $1,000. A $3,000 laundry set failed after just 3 years and had to be replaced. A beautiful $1,000 queen bed purchased around 2021 had the frame and slats break underneath. Their typical process involves sending someone to confirm the damage, then reporting it to the manufacturer. You're often left waiting--sometimes six months--for a resolution, like a replacement cushion, and only after repeatedly following up. In the end, their position is clear: if you're buying for a rental, you should expect their products not to last, and it's not their responsibility.

At Cap'n Gull's, there are so many gifts to choose from, ranging from magnets to shirts to snow globes. My goal is to bring back a snow globe from each city that I visit, and I ended up finding a cute one with a beach chair and umbrella inside. I also picked up a beach magnet, a Christmas ornament, and a street sign with my name on it. My boyfriend picked up several items as well. He got himself a shirt, a beer bottle opener, a basset hound magnet, and a beagle and a basset hound description photo frame. The total for all of these came out to about $100 or so. It's located on the 101 freeway right across the street from Kyllo's and the beach access parking lot, so you literally cannot miss it. You'll find almost everything from A to Z here.

Yes a $30.00 Hoodie makes her smile. Yes, I will continue to buy her things that make her happy. No, I don't care how many Hoodie's she really owns. Having said that. We really only buy clothing from here. I recently bought an Oregon Trail shirt. Quote,"Get in loser before we die of dysentery." Funny if you know. If they don't have your size they feel bad they couldn't help you. The first time it happened, it was adorable. Months later and another employee, the lady was telling us about what they ordered and the time and day they're expecting their next delivery and how the driver has been delivering to them for a couple year's now and how reliable he is.
