Customer Service: We were greeted by a young woman who was nice enough, but she was wearing a baggy plain white t-shirt, sweats, and flip flops chewing gum. I normally don't really nit-pick about this, but it just looked really unprofessional, like I've walked into an over-worked mother's home or something. I almost wanted to turn around and walk back out, but I didn't want to be rude. Haircut: Their prices are the same for both men and women for some reason: £15 for a dry cut, and £17 for shampoo & hair cut. Even if you've washed your hair yourself beforehand, if you're planning to get more than 1 inch cut off you need to pay the extra £2 for a wash. Really feels ridiculous and extortionate to me to be honest, since most of the time every time you go to the hairdresser, more than 1 inch is going to come off anyway, even if just for a trim! And why does needing 1 inch more off mandate that you need it to be shampooed anyway? In all my years of going to the hairdresser (with long hair mind you), I've never encountered this absolutely silly rule before. --- After reluctantly forking out £17 for my partner's male hair trim, I vowed to never step foot in this establishment again.

Th salon is located on Victoria Street in what used to be the Old Jehovah's Witnesses Hall. Now it looks like a funky new modern establishment. You can get most cuts done here for a reasonable price. A gents cut is about £14. This is not the cheapest for this area, however the service is good, so you definitely get what you paid for. If you prefer, you can have your hair cut by the same stylist, which is useful if you want someone to understand your hairstyle.

No consultation prior to wash - shown to dirty sink covered in hair dye from another customer, not offered tea or coffee although other customers were. I have thick, curly hair and the hairdresser didn't seem to know what to do with it (aside from asking a few times if I wanted it straight and pointing out that most people with curly hair who go to the salon choose to have it straightened-thereby inferring that I was out of touch and unfashionable)! No effort was made to style my hair. The only diffuser hairdryer in the salon broke a week before my visit (and had still not been replaced when I visited) so they were unable to dry my hair properly. I asked what the cost would be next time if I just have a wash and cut only leaving me to dry and style it myself in my own home - I was advised it would be the same price (£32). Is it too much to expect therefore to be able to walk out of a hairdresser with a finished hairstyle rather than having to go home to style and finish it myself?
