The animals look to be in good condition but like most things in Brazil, maintenance is a little lacking and some areas smell beyond the average zoo. The habitats are a mix too. The monkeys and birds seemed to be fine but the big cats are in very small enclosures with the tiger showing the obsessive pacing (I read this is a sign of stress/boredom in zoo animals). One of the elegant a had a bloody scar which was obviously due to nails in one part of the habitat (wtf?!?) Overall a great walk and one could spend hours just sitting and watching the monkeys but it does make me a little sad for the big cats and elephants. Entrance is 5reais adult/3 children. Overall worth the price of admission for those with kids or anyone interested in learning more about South American species. There were many I have never seen in any other zoos.
