It is a short walk to the historical display and then the pub for an evening meal. The accomodation is excellent. Doors open to the balcony from the bedroom and living room. In the evening you can see the kangaroos slowly appearing on the grassed area opposite. It did get a bit chilly when the sun went down but the heater worked a treat. It was very comfortable in the lounge watching the TV. There are books and game provided too. No problems sleeping as it was very quiet and the bed is good. We made the most of the breakfast left in the fridge; eggs, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms and a sprig of basil! There was a coffee pod machine as well as instant too. The bathroom is a good size but you need to remember to step up as it is on a different level. The bathroom fan seemed only to work if it detected movement so having a shower needed one of us to be employed as a waver to keep it going. Minor inconvenience compared to the luxury inside. We really enjoyed staying here.

So long as your expectations are realistic the Woolpack is a great place to stay. I was there for 4…read morenights and it was only $50 a night for a room with an ensuite. (If you ask for room 1 it has two connected rooms with a king bed in each!). So far as pub accommodation goes the rooms are huge and very quiet. Sure they're not the most modern but they have air con, a fridge and a kettle. There was also a TV but with no aerial connection it was as good as a door stop. It's also located smack in the middle of town so you can walk to anything you need. There's parking out the back near Woolies as well. The cleaners come in each day and just do a basic tidy - emptying your bin and replacing towels. But thats about it. If you want your bed made and things wiped down you're out of luck. The only downer for me is no wifi. But at $50 a night for an ensuite room and $30 for no ensuite its the best value place to stay in Mudgee. Plus what you save on accomm costs you can then spend on food and wine!

If the answer is 'Yes!', then I think you'll have a good experience at this venue. Linked with the lobby of one of Mudgee's oldest motels, you might think of demand-based opening hours and cooking standards. However, it looks like they want to encourage non-guest diners, as they post specials and promotions on their own Facebook page. The tables are nicely set up, with linen napkins and tablecloths, and real wine glasses rather than the less serious stuff of standard motels. Sure, service may at times be more quaint than quality, but they get the job done if you're not pretentious. Ooh, but the steak is sublime! Our 2-4-1 specials on a (unbooked) dinner Wednesday evening were faultlessly done as ordered - Medium Rare - and so much better than we've had in quite awhile. Meat is the reason you come here, and this did not disappoint. Local wine was generously served by the glass. I think this establishment is worthy of your consideration.

All you could see is beautiful old timey stained glass windows in the shop fronts and everything closed just after lunch. Ahhhhh yes, we're in the country now. Or are we? Have we gone back in time? It kind of felt like it. This place stood out as a beacon of normality in this otherwise dormant town. Maybe there is some time portal and this pub is the gateway to the present??? Although we had missed the bistro here at the Globe hotel we decided to stop in for a drink none the less.The group was pretty gutted as the grounds of the bistro really did look nice. Modern beers on tap further proved to me that I hadn't experienced a shift through time and space. but just to be safe, I did continuously check the photos to see if I would see myself staring back at myself from decades previously like in The Shinning. I didn't. Staff were friendly as were the patrons it must be said and with all the photos and jerseys around the place added to the community vibe the place was giving off. The place is definitely more than just a pub for the people who live here. We got a good laugh out of the framed one cent bet winnings that was framed in the TAB area. As blow ins we were made to feel welcome which isn't often the case in small town places But this place just had a friendly buzz about it. And in all honesty, the group was kind of sad to be leaving when the time came. It pretty much has everything you need in a pub stopping through including hotel rooms. As we drove away from the town, I rustled out the receipt in my pocket there clear as day on my receipt beside the drinks prices 19:22....... I knew it. Totally traveled back in time!

We booked out the whole place for a long weekend with friends and loved it…read more A gorgeous homestead on a farm with lovely views of the countryside and hills, not far from some of the best vineyards in Mudgee. The homestead has 7 bedrooms, each with an en-suite, doors out onto the verandah and a large dining and living room to share. Breakfast is served, as is afternoon tea. We also had a three course dinner served on Saturday night, starting with canapés and wine and ending with port & chocolates in the lounge. Food here was great and there was plenty of it, especially at breakfast. Home made preserves, preserved fruit from their orchards, hot and cold options. Karen & Sean are amazing hosts and very accommodating. You never went hungry here and most things were catered for. The rooms were clean and well stocked. The common kitchen had plenty of tea and coffee and you could buy snacks and wine from them if you wanted. Down below the house is a large games room with big TV, wet bar, pool table, darts and arcade games. A great space to enjoy and hang out. Loved it here and would come back again with friends for a few days. Great location close to Mudgee and their land has so many kangaroos you can see at dusk and dawn.

It's a large place with 7 units. None are very big, but they're quaint and well-appointed. You won't want to spend much time in your room anyway. The place is on a hillside, overlooking the green flats of the Mudgee wine regions. Roos hop all over the property. Quaint country relaxation. The deck surrounding the house makes it a magical place to watch sunsets. There's a games room downstairs, with TV, darts and pool. Chilled. Owners Karen and Sean make excellent breakfasts. One morning was corn fritter with avocado and sour cream; another was eggs, bacon and seasoned sausage. If you stay on the weekend you can have dinner there on Saturday night. Our dinner upstairs was a four-course feast wherein they brought in a gourmet chef who produced fabulous dishes (i remember more roast pork than I could eat; the rest is a gastronomic blur). And, since you're in wine country, you can BYOB as much as you like. Retire to the sitting room for some complimentary port afterwards. It's minutes to most of the wineries, and close to town. It's gorgeous and comfortable. It is not cheap. Save your pennies. Midweek is cheaper. Tariffs are on their website. But it's totally worth it for special occasions.
