The gifted offering was directed primarily to her Mom -- definitely the one who knows, and is able to really savour the distinctive flavours of these kinds of meats. And she sure did. I managed to target the weisswurst, and ensured we enjoyed a meal together with this sausage. It is a sausage favourite of mine, and I really enjoyed their product - creamy in texture, and rather 'lighter' in flavour. I could enjoy that sausage often, and in so many ways. At this time, that included one taste of sweet & savory, open-faced sandwiches -- made with slices of weisswurst sausage on cinnamon rolls -- tried before the sausage was gone. When my mother called and informed them of the rotten chicken, they said bring it back with a receipt. They weren't bothered by the fact that they sold rotten chicken and didn't apologize or try to do right by a customer who has supported them for nine years. Their only concern was a receipt which they never provided. Needless to say, I suggested my mom file a report with the health department ( which she has now done) and I'm sharing the customer service experience here. Accidents can happen which I understand. Terrible customer service is a whole other thing. I personally, I would never shop here on that merit alone. If they can't be bothered to fix the issue, I can't be bothered to spend money there. There's a bakery next door that also has a lot of great European rolls/breads and even desserts but also mixed in are North American treats as well so as much as this probably started out as an authentic German bakery and deli, it's now turned into a heavily German influenced bakery and deli. Still, for Kelowna, it's a good find for German products. Like many German delis, prices on packaged goods are obviously high as they are imports but where else are you going to find these products anyhow? The place is busy, kept clean, and the staff was helpful. A bit of confusion with the numbering system when we were there, but it happens.
