Off the main road, Copper Eagle supplies a fabulous respite heading west toward Osoyoos BC. They say their butter tart is the best in the area and it was an enjoyable flakey butter crusted tart filled with a gooey sugary heart. A perfect accompaniment to a coffee. read more

Very friendly and personal service! You should not miss dropping in for coffee and snacks. My partner and I were here in the summertime for breakfast. The ladies who work here, in the midst of a busy breakfast rush, seemed to give genuine conversations and smiles. They also seemed eager to give great customer service. You might find the prices a little higher, but this cafe is located in a semi-rural place. I would not complain about it as a visitor, since I got more than just the regular coffee and bread from these ladies. read more

An oasis on the Crowsnest. I always stop here on my road trip from Van to the Kootenays, as do most Highway 3 travellers (it's a must!). The Copper Eagle is a quaint little coffee shop in the historic mining town of Greenwood, "Canada's Smallest City" with incorporation dating back to 1897. It's located in a two-story heritage building built in 1899 and is the perfect rest stop to stretch the legs, refresh with a gourmet cuppa and have something tasty to eat. There's a delicious looking selection of freshly baked bread and treats, and the people who work the counter are genuine and friendly. A welcoming place of small town charm. A stroll down Copper Street is worth seeing the heritage sites and antique shops and learn about the rich history of the area. Look to where the vehicles with out-of-province plates are pulled over with the old red vintage car parked out front and that's the place! We were on a little road trip to grand forks but couldn't help stopping in this little town. It's like the Wild West with the most amazing buildings from the old days. I'm not sure why, but I always feel like I'm in a movie set in a small American country town when I'm in Greenwood. Even though there are usually about 100 Canada flags lining the only street in the town. I think it's the brick buildings, the old and worn paintings on the sides of the buildings, the antique stores. And it looks like the only small-town American town I've been to. Regardless, the Copper Eagle is my usual stop along Hwy 3 from Vancouver to Nelson, and vice versa. A small little cafe with lots of wood furniture and a piano in the corner. They have tasty home-baked goods, sandwiches, etc, etc. I passed through this way last week with my brother, and had a great peach/pecan scone. He had the spicy sausage soup and grilled cheese pannini. The soup was spicy, not the sausage. We sat there for a while, taking in the break from driving, and watched as a group of middle-aged men riding Harleys got ready to start on the next leg of their journey. Most of this time was spent wondering why anyone would want to ride a motorcycle with little more than a bike helmet and no face guard. Who volunteers to have their face bug-splattered? Seriously, it does not make you look cool. And neither does the cigarette hanging out of your mouth. Oh well, to each their own. read more

If you are in kettle river area, or on your way to grandforks or Christina lake, you have to make a stop for a coffee. They have freshly baked sweets and savouries. BREAD!!! If you are a bread lover like myself, stop here. Went here twice on my way to and from BC and it's amazing. I've tried quiche, iced lattes, hot chocolate, bread, cheesecake, croissants, date squares, Danishes, and more. Seriously. Everything is amazing. They cooked it to death, it was so browned, and my veggie omelette was filled with chopped raw brocolli and a slice of prepackaged slice of jack cheese. Horrible.
