Clear The Clutter - "They got my husband so inspired, he decided to clean out his desk (25 years of stuff)!" Angie's List Review

Our house has a ton of ground level storage that was filled to the brim with, well, clutter. Basically, I had been acquiring stuff my whole life, and just moving with it, never downsizing. It reached an overwhelming and unsustainable level. The issue was compounded when my parents cleaned out their own home and literally shipped me boxes of family mementos I had no idea what to do with. We're talking floor to ceiling packed boxes that needed to be gone through. Stasia has absolutely found her calling. First, the results: in an unbelievably short amount of time, she helped me get down to about 1/10th of the original amount of stuff, maybe less. Every item I own is now something I have actively chosen. Second: Nothing goes to waste. Most of my stuff was in great condition and usable, just does not have a place in my life. Stasia personally hauled everything like that to Bridge House, and helped me freecycle the rest. She also could have helped me sell some of my items, but I chose not to go that route. Third: Stasia does the hard labor! She was able to move things I couldn't, strip some obsolete text books I wasn't strong enough to strip so that they could meet city standards for recycling (which she researched), etc. Fourth: Stasia makes everything unbelievably easy. I have ADD and am basically incapable of any level of organization. She establishes piles, then boxes, hauls, and disposes of items as I sort them. Stasia is also great at keeping me focused, knowing where to start, and basically everything else I am personally terrible at. She literally even made sure I was drinking enough water while working hard. Fifth: Stasia is totally not judgmental. There have been moments in our work together that I have felt a little insane struggling with whether or not to part with certain items, but she's totally unflappable. I have a feeling she's seen it all. Sixth: The experience is empowering. Stasia will not express an opinion unless asked (and sometimes even then) as to whether something should be kept, but creates an environment in which it is comfortable and possible for you to make efficient decisions for yourself. Clear the Clutter isn't just worth the money, it's actually an excellent value. I can't recommend this service enough!

Stacia is amazing!…read more My boyfriend and I had moved into our new home a few months ago and everything was going smooth until he got busy with work. We had one room left full of assorted stuff that needed to be unpacked, organized, and put away in their respective rooms. By myself I was overwhelmed. There was just too much that needed to be done so I found Clear the Clutter here on Yelp and gave Stacia a call. She arrived on time for our appointment and we went straight to work! She was very sweet and understanding about the chaotic mess in my spare room/art studio and was very methodical in her organization. Stacia had advised the 3-hour appointment for first-timers. I was skeptical at first, I didn't know if we could finish the entire room. The time passed by so quickly and when it was up the room was completely finished! At the end we had a surprising amount of recycling! Stacia helped break down boxes and brought it all outside. She also took away any donations I had including a large dresser! When Stacia had arrived I had a junk room. When she left I had the spare room and art studio I always wanted! Thank you Stacia!

I had a 30 minute consultation with Martha-Carol of Chaos Organizing. I emailed her a photo of the…read morearea that I wanted her expertise in, the desk. She inquired what my problem areas were. I had a small black shelving unit on the desk that was a bit of an eye sore. I don't have any drawers with the desk and not much storage in general in the home. Since there were boxes upon boxes underneath my desk Martha-Carol suggested I get a rolling set of drawers to put things that are taking up space on the desk. She advised rolling drawers with shallow drawers that are only the size needed for putting paper in. If the drawers are too deep (more than 2-3 ") then all the papers will get lost in the drawer. All the pens, highlighters, markers, notepads could be put into thin bins in one of the drawers. She mentioned that they are fairly cheap (pack of 3 for $1). I haven't gotten to the stack of magazines yet but Martha-Carol encourages that if they're more than 3 months old to just let them go. Or designate 30 minutes to flip through them and then put them in the recycling bin. Decluttering can be overwhelming so she recommends setting a timer for 30 minutes and doing it in intervals, unless you're the type of person that can just plow through it until the job is done. Martha-Carol was very friendly, helpful and cheerful throughout the whole consultation. With about 10 minutes remaining I asked about organization in the kitchen. Like many people, we have quite a few small appliances and not much room to store them. We had them placed in 1 corner of the kitchen table but it was hard to reach the item in the corner. Martha-Carol suggested that they be lined up along 1 edge for easier access. If we had more room in the kitchen we could purchase a free standing shelving unit with wheels to put all those small appliances on. She brought up the fact that procrastination means that I don't really want to do something. I have to just set a timer and get it done. It took me a really long time to organize and declutter but I'm happy with the results and Martha-Carol for pointing me in the right direction.

As a mother of three young children in a house that is not that spacious, our options for a play…read morearea were very limited. We had been using the formal dining area as a playroom- but it was a mess all the time, with no Organization at all. I knew what I wanted, but didn't know the first thing about organizing the room into a workable, neat, easy space for the kids....MC Stewart achieved everything I could have wanted in the playroom. She took her time getting to know us as a family and how the kids use the space. She shopped for me, made beautiful neat labels for everything, decluttered the space ( and made it fun!) and turned our nightmare playroom into a beautiful, easy to clean, organized space. The kids love to play in their space now, and know where everything goes when they're done playing. All for a completely reasonable cost..MC was fast, and had everything done in just a couple of days. she really enjoys her work and it shows. I am so grateful for her help. I can't wait for her to do my closets..
