As for the fees, the State Sales Tax goes to the State, not Hessney. The buyers premium is indeed a rip off (since Hessney likely charges the SELLER a fee as well), but it is clearly stated at the beginning of every single auction and on his web site. The saddest thing is that buyer's premium does not buy you any guarantees. I think if you are being told that an item is in a certain condition, then it turns out that it does not work the buyer's premium should allow you to bring the item back for a refund of the bid price. The buyer's premium should be an insurance policy, not an extra 10% fee for Hessney. I would waive insurance if I could waive the fee. But to waive any insurance and still pay a fee above an beyond your bid price is just thievery.

House went for $175k less than what a realtor could have gotten within 5 days on the market guaranteed by the realtor. Pickup trucks with plows went for 1/2 of WHOLESALERS price. equipment, guns, and all high dollar items fractions of value. 1/3 of the household goods never even made it to the auction. high dollar items were still there. He literally was selling shit for the last 4 hours to 3 people. Bidding a dollar for expensive items. Then his employees started gathering stuff up. And yes. They bought shit for a dollar. At one point, a women he obviously knew was fanning herself and he was disturbed by it. The interaction between the two of them was very uncomfortable to witness. His forbidding her to use the fan and her continuing to do so to the point he approached her and attempted to take the fan. Additionally, it was very difficult to see the current item up for bid as the staff stood in one spot with the items held at their mid section. With so many people seated in front of you, even bobbing and weaving your head, you could rarely see the item. He often barked orders at his staff, again a behavior that was uncomfortable to witness. Not sure I'd sit through another 6 hours of his auction.

When they did have listings on Auction Zip I did enjoy going and bidding on items. There were lots of "hidden" items that you had to poke around for in order to find before the bidding began.

She refused to sell things which she had put online as being up for auction, saying the crowd was not spending enough money. I have been an online seller for several years and do my research before I buy. She was pulling prices out of the air, telling the crowd she would not sell some pottery items for less than$20 starting bid as she KNOWS they are worth at least $100 or $150. I know these pieces and have sold several. They sell for about $35. She became miserable and refused to sell more saying the crowd was not serious about buying. I have never been to a place where the owner put up a tantrum and stopped selling things that were advertised to be sold. This was definitely a first and last for me.
