Big Event Floral designs in Fenelon Falls. Will never order through this florist again! My mother in-law never received her flowers as they said . We called and e mailed to make sure they had all the correct info . They said no worries . " we had a email they day off the expected flower delivery that my mother had received her flowers. Yet there were none, we had my parents check with neighbours and on close by porches also we asked our parents to double check the property as social distancing with deliveries is currently in effect , thinking the flowers may be at the end of their driveway. still not a sign of any flowers with in the vicinity or on their property . we then called the following morning when they re opened and tried 8 times to reach them . Finally a voice flustered voice answered . we explained our circumstances and explained we sent emails etc ,the reply we got was we just arrange the flowers we don't deliver them and they are very busy this weekend and don't have time to answer emails . They defended themselves first and forgot about the customer on the other end. Understanding it's Mother's Day weekend and it's busy with all stores we thought we would order the flowers to be delivered Friday as to avoid the rush , the customer certainly doesn't need to hear " we are busy with other orders " you're running a long standing florists it's a given every same time of the year. They should be prepared for this and also have a extra person manning the phone and answering emails to resolve unforeseen customer issues. Still awaiting a response as promised. Although I am not normally one to complain, I feel obligated to write a review. It will be interesting to see if the shop keeps this review up or not. I dealt directly with the owner for the year leading up to my wedding. I never once got a phone call or email back when she said I would (and have probably over 15 emails saved that are to the effect of "I still haven't heard back from you...". At the beginning of this summer, I drove an hour and a half to her shop with my husband for a scheduled meeting that I had with the owner. The shop was locked, she didn't pick up her phone, she didn't respond to my emails - a complete no-show. When she finally got back to me (2 days later), she said a girl called in sick for a wedding and she had to go and forgot about our meeting. Fine, I understand sh*t happens. But the lack of communication for the rest of the summer WITHOUT APOLOGY really irked me. I had sent pictures of flowers I wanted for my bouquet which seemed to be completely forgotten / disregarded. Didn't even see a sample until 1 week before my wedding. Told her it wasn't what I wanted, she said she would change it, but it was too late for me to see another picture of a sample before the wedding. Had the audacity to demand payment in full less than 24hr hours after I saw the first sample of my wedding bouquet (that wasn't what I asked for). Flowers ended up being okay, but still not what I had asked for. I can honestly say that I have dealt with so many people over the years, this was one of the worst experiences I have ever had (and I am a pretty laid back person and work in retail and get that things can happen). The lack of consideration, professionalism, lack of apology, and lack of just general communication skills makes me give Meredith and Big Event a 1 out of 5. We really want to give this place 1.5 rating. Our experience with Big Event started off quite nicely, everything went downhill as the wedding day approach. We got recommended to Big Event by our caterer, so subconsciously we had a certain expectation from them. The communication between us and the owner, Meredith, was somewhat disengaged, especially in emails. It would take her at least 5 days to reply to us. Originally, we ordered self battery operated lanterns to put in our FRAME tent. We were assured for the price that we paid the tent would be filled with lanterns. Instead, the delivery was late and they did not bring enough lanterns or ladder to hang the lanterns. We spent $400 + tax for 12 lanterns. That's $34 for 1 lantern for 1 night. We never heard back from the owner regarding this short fall. The lanterns were supposed to help add the the ambiance of the wedding, but with the way that they were set up...failed miserably, and actually looked like a school of Jelly Fish from Finding Nemo. We ordered aloe plants for our centre pieces, and it appears as though they were just thrown into a pot with some dirt on them. They were crooked and not at all what we wanted or expected. The flowers (bouquet, boutonnieres, corsages etc...) were the only good thing about this whole experience. We were actually happy with those. To summarize,,,, service not so good, professionalism not so good.... Flowers were good. read more
