PROS: This place is huge and has a lot of inventory. Everything is clean inside and the merch is organized. The staff is friendly and the categories for the items range from home decor, furniture, toys, grocery, home goods, and bric a brac. CONS: This is suppose to be a discount store and there prices are equal with regular retail stores-- except for the furniture OVERALL: As long as you aren't looking for discounted prices you'll find everything you need here. read more

I placed an order online from this store and paid extra for same day delivery - the item was never delivered, and when I finally got through to customer service (after being placed on hold for 90+ minutes), Big Lots said they were not responsible and could not refund me and I would need to talk to the delivery company for a refund. I called the delivery company, and they said since the order was placed through Big Lots, I would need to ask them for a refund. I finally was able to get a very helpful employee on the phone who helped me cancel my order and get a refund - thanks to him! But I'm still frustrated it took me so much time and run-around to get my issue resolved. read more

Today I decided to take a quick jaunt over to the Hudson Mall and swing around some of the shops. I had read some of the reviews on the Mall itself(which I didn't actually go into today). The reviews were from really bad to medium range. Well, from what I witnessed today I saw medium...not horrible but not great. My main focus today was to check out Big Lots! and MARSHALL's/Home Goods stores. MARSHALL's/Home Goods the TJ Maxx franchises I always love so it's not even fair to ask me how I feel about them. Now Big Lots! I had never been to before...ever so, I can't compare it to other Big Lots stores anyplace else. Well I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I actually liked it and walked up and down ALL, yes ALL the isles! I found great pieces of summer furniture, really nice artificial flowers, home cleaning items in bulk ...with even better prices than BJ's or Sams Club, decorative wall decor, food items, beverages from coffee, teas, juices, soda, healthy snacks, nuts, electronics, stationary, batteries, lighting and more!!! Wow! All of the staff was friendly and my new friend Assistant Manager Arsenio was friendly, great and helpful. The isles were well stocked organized and clean!! CLEAN!! Yay for cleanliness!!! I walked away with 4 bags of stuff!!! Yes...4 bags. And yes, I will be going back!!! I even got a Big Lots Customer Card. This shop goes on my list next to Dollar Tree BUT NO...no, it's a step up from Dollar Tree because they sell furniture. So if you're in the area I think it is a good one to stop in on. read more

I am so disappointed with this store. I called ahead of time to make sure they had a specific face mask. The attendant even knew the exact price for it and she assured me several times (because I asked her several times: "Are you sure?!!") that they had it. I drove almost an hour with my baby asleep to come buy the mask that I need for work, got here 10 til they closed, and when I got here they told me the masks were not available and suggested I return tomorrow cuz MAYBE the truck that got in today had them... Not nice customer service. Very unprofessional and inconsiderate! DO NOT MAKE ASSURANCES WITHOUT FIRST CHECKING PERSONALLY - PLEASE!!!! read more

I have been shopping here for years. Misleading the consumer is something that is not acceptable. Prices place on items, advertising on items one price and being charge a higher one. The manger, Lawrence would not honor the price advertised on the item. What a way to treat your loyal customers. Bought what I thought was a new vacuum cleaner on 4/29 . When I came home it was used with dirt buildup inside the cleaner ! Tried to return yesterday evening 1 hour after i purchased and they advised that I cannot return it because of the coronavirus pandemic ! I am going back today to see a store manager . Clean and Modern Store With Amazing Staff Service I bought some furniture recently from this Big Lots after going in just to check it out. I was struck by how clean the store was, and how nice the folks were. From the door greeting to folks offering time to help me look at and offer their own opinions about different pieces we were considering. One particular standout was Jeffrey. A paragon of patience and experience, he was helpful not only in helping point out pros and cons, but also just being very accommodating and helping us understand the details of each of the items. I never knew there was so much that went into a sofa or mattress! Most of all, there was no pressure, just advice, help, and guidance. We are a small business owner and BIG LOTS with all there 1400+ stores force our landlord in Jersey city, NJ to CLOSE our store because we were offering the community of Jersey City better prices on the furniture items and they got rid of us so they can have it all for themselves and OVER charge the hard working people of New Jersey MORE money for the furniture than they have to . We tried to call Joshua at BIG LOT corporate office in order to talk to them and he said " We are not talking about this " and hung up . They do not care about the community , the employees , they only care about their pocket . Now 15 peoples families will be without jobs because of them . How disappointing . The big corporations with a snap of there fingers throw their weight around and get rid of healthy competition by throwing a fit to the landlords and we all know who will win that fight . They did succeed and forced the landlord to CLOSE us down in order to corner the market and keep their high prices on there furniture items . read more

This is a great store for discounted merchandise. You can't find better prices anywhere. Everything from food items to cleaning supplies to bath items and always something new. Big Lots is a cleaner, more upscale Family dollar. It has all of the goods you need for your home, garden and pets. It seems like they get the leftover inventory of the more well known stores so you will find some good products for a decent price. The prices can be a bit random, like I saw a lot of $1.25. I bought some dog food and wee wee pads here for a nice price. read more
