Having grown up on a farm/ranch in the Willamette Valley in Oregon, I've been shopping at "farm…read moreco-op" stores for over 50 years now. Before moving to the Redding area 3+ years ago, I was a member of the Douglas County Farmers Co-Op in Roseburg, OR for 30+ years. I spent many thousands of $$ there every year to keep my sheep, horses, chickens, dogs, cats and 30 acres of land happy, healthy, and well stocked. After retiring, selling our farm, and moving to NorCal to be near our adult children, I was very surprised to find that there wasn't a "farmers co-op" in the Redding area, what with all the farming and ranching in the area. Tractor Supply tried to "pinch hit," for us--but since TSC was only about one-third the square footage of the Douglas County Farmers Co-op, there's just no way for TSC to match the vast selection of Douglas County Farmers Co-op's True Value Hardware items, clothing, boots, shoes, animal feed, veterinary supplies & medications, garden, yard, home & landscaping supply, logging, irrigation, submersible pumps for wells, and much more--"well," you get the idea..... I was thrilled to find out that Grange Co-op has just expanded to Redding (from the 6 locations they have in Southern Oregon, plus Yuba City, CA). Grange is larger than Tractor Supply, although not as large as the DC Farmers Co-op. I got great help yesterday, when I was out looking at some fencing, stock watering tanks, and tomato cages in their secure storage yard at the parking lot in front of the store. A couple of the items were not price marked yet, so a Grange employee tried to look up the prices on the "Grange App" on his cellphone, but needed to run into the store to find out the information. He was cheerful, energetic, and willing to go "above & beyond" the usual levels of service (running from outside into the store, then back outside again in the 90+ degrees Fahrenheit Redding weather). Because of our family's previous membership in the DC Farmers Co-op, we got a nice discount to sign up for their lifetime membership plan. We are very happy!

Our dog…read morehad emergency surgery a few days prior to shopping here because of a fiber blockage in his intestine from years of licking our carpet and couch. After a very long surgery and a laundry list of post operative care, we were required to find and buy a couch that was leather or some other smooth material to ensure our dog could live safely in our home. We were short on time and needed something stat. Immediately upon pulling into the parking lot, it was very clear that this was an established, family owned and operated business. The property outside was impeccably maintained, and the exterior of the building was beautiful. They had a series of signs in the window in favor of helping animals in need, supporting american business, and supporting first responders. We were extremely pleased to see this all and I had a feeling before walking inside that this is a store you visit through out your lifetime for ALL your furniture needs, not just a one and done visit. We were immediately greeted by the cutest Cavapoo, Luna, and a friendly man and woman. Todd immediately and naturally conversed with us and very, VERY quickly identified what we were looking for through genuine interest. During the sales process, the one thing that I appreciated the most was his honest expertise about different fabrics or materials. He was extremely knowledgeable and very efficiently went through the different features of the sofa we were most interested in and different purchasing options. He took into account and addressed various factors that go into what makes furniture comfortable - height differences, weight differences, torso to leg ratio, longevity, color, factors that wear down materials, etc etc. I could go on and on how amazing the shopping process was with Todd. He made sure to give a plethora of information without making us feel like we were sitting there for a long time or listening to a long lecture. The value of the sofa we ended up purchasing - we felt good about. Being a family operated business with high quality american materials, their prices are a little higher. My husband and I were quite comfortable spending a little more to ensure our money was not going overseas or into a worse quality item. We were also super happy to pay a little more to support their business philosophies and values. Their sofas have great warranties and since it's backed by an independent business, it's very clear Oak Tree will work with you to ensure they stand behind their pieces. We ended up getting a FANTASTIC couch that will allow our dog to safely in our home while providing maximum comfort for us and checking all of our boxes. If you are looking for furniture and want to ensure your money goes to a local family who cares about people, animals, and the local community - this is the place to go.

Since it's been "Chef'Store, prices have gone up, and quality has gone down. Went in to purchase…read moreboneless skinless chicken thighs, $3.50+ a pound, didn't purchase them. Last time I was in Chef'store I purchased bone in, skin on thighs, they were about the size of pigeon thighs, couldn't serve those to guests. They no longer carry a LOT of things that the old Cash n Carry use to have. 10 pound bag of onions was a pretty decent price, but the yellow onions in that bag were really small, not medium to large like the old Cash n Carry. I'll be sticking with CostCo from now on to purchase what I need, more of a variety, better quality, and priced more reasonably, even WITH the membership fee.
