As someone who is building my stock of spirits and accessories to practice mixology at home, I really appreciate the supply and service I received at Big Red! Note that they have a free parking lot on the north side of the building, so you don't have to pay at the meters on the street. As you enter, there is a long hallway across the front that takes you to an area designated for wine. The place is huge! I couldn't believe how many rows of wine, sorted by type, were there. Since I was looking for spirits, I began exploring the northern half of the store. I am discovering bitters for my cocktails and found a nice selection of them here. While looking, one of the staff asked if she could help. I was looking for a bottle of "Licor 43" but wasn't sure which area to look in. She went on her cash register/computer and told me it was on aisle 10 and even came over to help me look. Another employee was more familiar with the brand and went directly to it. I am not sure I would have found it on my own. After picking out a few more supplies, I checked out and was soon on my way. I really appreciated the team assistance I received from the staff. This place is very nice. They have free wine tasting. Very clean and organized. Their staff knows about their products they sell which is a big deal when I shop in general. Must go see. read more

I stop in hear about once a year to pick up some last minuet booze on thanksgiving. The store is conveniently located with a huge parking lot. Obviously i love the fact that they are open on thanksgiving for everyone that needs something extra. Their selection is huge!! tons of great wine, liquor and a full walk in cooler for all the beer. The staff is always friendly (even though when I'm there they are working on thanksgiving) and all of their prices are at market. I recommend everyone to shop here for their alcohol. and as always drink responsibly!! read more

Big Red Holiday Hootenanny DISASTER!!!!! So I love collecting rare bourbon and scotch. I go online And see that there's going to be a lottery at big red today for a chance to have your ticket drawn to purchase one of 34 bottles of rare bourbon of which Pappy was one of them. I get there at noon because it said noon to two and I'm told the guy passing out the tickets is in the front of the store . I have my computer print out for my ticket and I'm told I don't need that, anybody who comes in the store can have a ticket , first big mistake. Those of us who appreciate what we were registering for to get a ticket to have a unique opportunity to be drawn in the lottery are now confounded because every other Tom Dick and Harry that walks in also can get a ticket. This limits my opportunity limits everybody's opportunity that went to the effort to actually go to the website and do WHAT WAS ASKED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS LOTTERY!!!!! Then I am told by a manager the only reason they wanted you to sign up online was to get an idea of how many people would show up. That is a bullshit answer it does not matter how many on the website but that all of us who did what was asked to participate were to some extent enthusiasts!! Not Jim bob swinging in for a bottle of Boone's Farm and given a ticket to a lottery and potentially be drawn to get something he did not even appreciate. What a tragic terrible decision you made Big Red on this event. The drawing was a madhouse just a bunch of dumbasses with tickets like they were getting a free cheeseburger! Many of those that got the chance to purchase bottles I'm sure had no idea what they were getting. Those of us who went through the drama and went through the effort to actually follow the rules were now actually given less opportunity for the effort we put in. This was a terrible deal I hope they never do it again terrible terrible management idea, terrible service, you should be ashamed. It really just ended up being a big bait and switch to get everybody in the store to buy overpriced alcohol!!!!! I can get high end wine's and all the same spirits for less at Kroger for goodness sake. This cluster of an event with no real rules and making it a free for all was a disgusting greedy choice on Big Red's part. I have not been in their store for the last 10-15 years without spending $150- $300, sometimes more. This event closed out my business with Big Red forever at this point and suggest to all that you shop their prices at other places in the future read more

This is the Mecca of liquor stores. Anyway, this is the best liquor store I have ever seen. They have everything from PBR to Cristal. An entire aisle of scotch and a staff that could tell you the difference between Caol Ila, Port Charlotte and Jura distilleries (even though those are only a few miles apart). Need a last minute keg? They'll have it. Even better, they have discounts if you are buying in bulk. They are always super friendly and will order in, hold and organize your order for you. If you're local, they'll even bring it to you! On second thought, I don't think there are liquor stores in Mecca. But if drinking was a religion, I think a Hajj to Big Red would be in order. read more

Nicest liquor store I've been in. A few larger but they are always those huge overpriced ones over state lines. This was beautiful with tons of cheap and expensive items. It's part of a chain but this is the biggest in the area. Giant beer cooler, wine selection and tons of liquor. Big parking lot too. They even have very friendly employees and a tasting area. Best place to buy beer in B-town.....period. They have a gigantic selection of beers from all over the world. They have all the liquor you would ever need and a fantastic wine collection to boot! While in town I stopped in and I've been at this location two dozen times over the years and this place stands the test of time. Large selections of beer, wine & various liquors. Fair prices with people WILLING to help you. Great combination. This evening we were in town and were in need of a gift, my friend likes Chimay beer and Big Red Liquors had all three types in stock and fairly priced. They even went out of their way to box the bottles for the trip home. This is the store! In Bloomington this is the flagship. I don't care that they have the liquor market tied up in my town, they have the goods and this central location has a fantastic range. They provided the drinks for my daughter's wedding years ago and I have been a loyal and regular customer ever since. As an alumni of IU, this is the best Big Red location, if you like good beer, which I do. They easily have the best selection of domestic craft beer and imports. For the different stores of this chain in Bloomington I would give different reviews because they're different. Prices are good, but otherwise... I liked downtown store when I used to live there, it's huge, have a great selection of everything you can imagine. Now I live on East side and East side store disappointed me a lot. I usually buy Miller Geniune Draft, and believe ot not, but East side Big Red doesn't carry that! No, it's not temporary out of stock, I was told by cashier that they don't even order it. Really? You don't order regular Miller? I don't ask for some handkrafted Ireland beer, it's a Miller Geniune Draft millions people in the US drink on a regular basis. read more

Big Red Liquors is the best! I really appreciate the personal service. I needed to send celebratory spirits to a race team in Indy after a great race weekend.
