I lost my keys and called these guys through AAA to get a replacement FOB and key. 7 months later the key blade fell out from the FOB. The only use it got was going in and out of a car on a keychain. Big Red refused to honor their work and said that their key FOBs are only covered for 30 days, quoting me full price to get a second FOB. I had the invoice number, the tech, visit date, everything, they refused to even offer a discount. If you're charging me hundreds of dollars for a key FOB it needs to last longer then 7 months. Do yourself a favor and take it to a more reputable locksmith who actually cares about service and quality product. Shame on Big Red, do better. read more

I would never do business with this company again. I brought a chip key into them to just get it cut. I told them I could program it myself. They told me it was not possible- I said it was possible because I already had 2 working keys. They said they would cut it for $50. It would cost $50 to have them program it or $50 to get it just cut. I left- and got it cut for $2.00 elsewhere and programmed in in the parking lot. I will never go back there. My OEM Honda transponder key broke, so I was forced to get a new key. I ordered an OEM key blank off the web and took it and my vehicle to Big Red Locksmiths to have the key cut and the transponder chip programmed to my vehicle. As an aside, they sell these key blanks too, so you can go to them for the whole thing. I was assisted by Don, who had everything completed in a jiffy. My key was cut using a spare that I brought along, and Don also programmed the transponder chip in the new key so that it would actually start the vehicle. I opted to use Big Red Locksmiths over a local Honda dealer to see if they could maybe save me some cash. They did just that and I was in and out much faster than the dealer ever could for the same job. Not that the dealer does bad work or anything, just a more economical and speedy option. read more

I've been to this place 3 total times. First two times, which were two separate visits, they stated they couldn't help me with two different padlocks spare keys which I thought was really weird. Took them to keymasters in Omaha and they had no problem making them. I'm not sure if they didn't know what to do, or didn't have any other brands other than Master for spare keys. 3rd time I went, I had a flip fob key I got from Amazon that is meant for a honda accord. All I needed was for them to make an identical key. Which a typical locksmith should be able to do. I took care of the rest of it. He stated that they couldn't guarantee the key, which is great like I didn't know that, but I said I'm not paying for a mistake, then I didn't want to go through with it, he then said "let me see, I'm sure I can do it," he then cut the key and cursed half way through, which is a great feeling as a customer. He cut the key wrong as the key could turn one way but not the other, so I was out the $15 it cost for the key fob from a 3rd party (Amazon) and they charged $25 to cut it as well. The guy kept saying "sorry sir," over and over which was just sad at that point as he stated there was nothing they could do. I was pretty fed up, just left, I try to be understanding but I was done. Needless to say, won't ever go back there again. I always try to help out small businesses and I gave these guys 3 chances. Their local competitors outdid them, plain and simple. read more

Fantastic and quick service. Keys locked in car. They were there in 20 minutes just like the guy on the phone said and the guy got my car door open in less than 30 seconds with no damage or fuss. $50 for 30 seconds of Work plus the drive to location seems steep but actually it is a very fair price considering how much it would cost to have another key fob made and lost wages from missing work. The guy was super friendly. They take credit cards and cash. I will certainly not hesitate to call them again if myself or anyone I know needs a reliable locksmith. read more

Yep, we accidentally locked ourselves out of our apartment the other night..after hours of course. Ran over to our neighbors apartment and used their phone book where we came across Big Red Locksmiths (It has nothing to do with them having a Husker reference I promise...) Anyways, a locksmith showed up in 10 minutes, and it took a whole 30 seconds to unlock our door (I'm glad they are on our side!). Pros: Quick, friendly, accepted Visa, 24-hour availability. The guy that came out was very nice/ professional unlocked my car in seconds and i greatly appreciate the work done. With that being said im giving a one star review because of the pricing. These guys charged me 80 dollars to unlock my 2007 ford fusion just because i live on base *my car was locked on base as well* I can understand charging more because to get on base you will need a vehicle inspection and a guest pass with escort but honestly 80 dollars is quite outrageous especially since the unlocking was literally 10 seconds and the store is down the street from the base, it took him about 15 minutes to get to the gate. Im not one to throw out the military card, example: I SERVE SO I DESERVE BETTER PRICES. But its wrong for people to charge military personnel more just because they know we have a steady salary. Just my 2 cents. I wouldn't mind doing business with them again if i don't get charged up the ass for it. PS im copying and pasting this onto google reviews as well. read more

Just had BRL program my Ford pickup key to my vehicle. Super fast, professional, and it cost me less than initially estimated. Definitely recommend vrs other "competitors" which brings me to critical point. Big Red Locksmith competes with a lot of other "locksmiths" in the Omaha area that say they'll unlock your vehicle for less $ than they charge but once they unlock it they suddenly pounce a larger cost of service and it's really crooked. Be aware of these other "locksmiths" many of them are scam artists. BRL is a great business please help me in supporting them! read more

Both days I went in, the first to look at it and the second day to finish the transaction, all the guys there were great. I first spoke to Fred who gave me good information on the safe and was so nice to work with. The next day I met the owner Andy. He dealt with me exactly the way I expect any business man would, with professionalism and respect plus he was fun to talk. He delivered the safe the next day at the exact time he would.
