Food was amazing. We thought there was no way we'd get that much food. But it was amazing food, great quality and value. Will definitely be back in the future

I normally go here in the summer on our Sunday drives for Cesar Sunday special with my son. Where there is plenty of seating outside. This is the first time in the winter with limited seating. Our son just loves this place and got me hooked. Hubby was sceptical about going here he's not a fan of brisket due to being its to fatty for him. So this place was alway nope when we drove by. Today Dec 30, 2021 at Lunch time was a complete surprise when we drove by hubby wanted to try BBQ Pit out. He was tried of my ravings about the BBQ meat, sausage. We drove into the parking lot and the first thing we smelled as we got out of our vehicle, is the delicious smell of barbeque. This place is very rustic/ industrial feel as you enter. There is a freezer/ cooler where you can purchase meat produces that are made in house at a very reasonable price if I say so myself. That's were we were stopped! Before you enter I need to see your vaccination status and picture ID this nice gentleman asks. Took us by surprise, because we didn't see him we were occupied by taking in the decor of the bar with this hug bull head. Showed our status and ID and showed us where we could sit. The place was packed with distancing. Soon as we sat we had a bartender or was he the owner not sure. Anyways he took our drink order after telling us about their special beers. A wonderful waitress Chloe came and took another drink order from us as well as food order. She took her time explaining to hubby how the food ordering goes. We gave her our order of 2 brisket sandwiches with a side of baked bean, bacon cheese scalloped potatoes. She told him to listen for his name and table number, and where to pick up your order. Before we knew it our name was called and up we went to pick up our food. The food came on trays with parchment paper. Off to the the side was a selection of barbecue sauces you can put on your food. This is we're I found it kinda not Covid friendly sauces. Everyone picks up the plastic bottles and squeezing on their sandwich. Not once did I see anyone cleaning the bottles. Was better when they had a pump station instead of plastic bottles. Anyways this wasn't a deal breaker for us, just an observation. The food was delicious, hubby was so impressed by the food and flavours. He had to talked to the gentleman (I'm thinking was a owner) told us once they sell out that's it. He starts the BBQ at 10 pm for the next day. He says they normally are all sold out of meat 7 pm, sometimes earlier. We were told best come early for the best selection, later in the day as things sell out you selections become limited. Plenty of parking. Great access from the north and south highway. Now that Hubby loves this place we will be returning more often!! Don't listen to the negative naysayer, or even the positive ones make your own assessment of this joint.

    Candied bacon apple crisp

Figuring I could kill two birds with one stone, I decided to have lunch while I was in Okotoks since I'm rarely in the area. Their menu is short and sweet: meats, sides and desserts. I ordered the ribs and brisket with coleslaw and smoked cheddar bacon potatoes for sides and enjoyed some sun on a picnic bench as I waited. I opted to eat outside, 1) because it was so dang nice out and 2) because I didn't want to smell super smokey from sitting inside. I normally don't dip into BBQ sauce, but I took the root beer and granny apple ones to try since they're homemade and they were pretty tasty! The ribs were perfectly smoked and fall off the bone good. The brisket was fattier than my liking but still flavorful. Didn't care for the coleslaw but man, the potatoes were awesome! The potatoes were sliced up smothered in cheese and bacon and reminded me of scalloped potatoes. Of course, I had to make room for their candied bacon apple crisp. Chunks of apple and crumble drizzled with whipped cream and caramel topped with crisp bacon strips? Un-friggen-believable! If I ever make the trek down south again, I'm gonna have that apple crisp with a side of potatoes as my meal!

They put a rub on the meat that I'm allergic to. There are no alternatives, and this is not allergy-friendly.

Others may love this place, for me the spices they smoke their meat in result in aggravation and a gluten attack.

Quite a few places online stated that they were open late, but we were turned away by a number of places as they ended up closing earlier. Thankfully, one of them pointed us to Comery, one of the fews spots open past midnight. For a late night bite, it hit the spot! Meats are half off after 10pm.The three of us got: - $9 mango wheat - $9 cherry sour - $9.5 1/2 lb brisket (discounted at this time): tender and bombbb. There's an array of housemade BBQ sauces at every table. my fave is the spicy one - $18 wings dry rub: not very memorable but still good - $7 coleslaw: refreshing - $7 spicy fries: not bad Service was a little slow at this time. Took awhile for someone to notice we were waiting. It's dimly lit but the way the tables are set up allows for easy socializing. I would come back!

Holy cow we were impressed with the 250 selection of whiskys!! Richard, the manager was unaware of us arriving (my fault) but quickly arranged a private room for 25 people. Our servers, Maddie and Charmaine worked the room with perfection. Bringing great food like Brisket and smoked pork belly. Everybody enjoyed their time together. As we closed down the our event, Maddie told us about the Prickett Richard Speakeasy under ground. She took us downstairs to the beautiful, dark cozy, discreet bar where you step back to the 1940s. I was waiting for Al Capone to walk through the door. What a place, check it out when you can!!

Had 8 different cuts of meat and found the galbi, bulgogi and skirt steak to be tasty. Didn't enjoy the pork belly, but I rarely do, and found the spicy pork to be bland. Beef soup was delicious as was the egg casserole. Cheesy corn tasted a lot like canned corn. Wings were cooked perfectly and wished they had more of a kick. They were supposed to be sweet and spicy but I found them too sweet. Complimentary Mango crushed ice was inventively playful and a joy to eat. All of us tried it and thought it was light and not too sweet. Refreshing.

After browsing on my own, I found my dad but my mom was no-where to be seen. Shortly after, we discovered that she walked down the street to BBQ Express - I didn't even know this place existed and apparently my mom, who hardly ever comes to Calgary knew it existed - she must have had those BBQ duck senses.. Anyways, they are right next to a Vietnamese place and there's a parking lot available. It is exactly what their name is "Bbq express" - they offer BBQ Pork, BBQ Duck, Soya Chicken, Sausage, BBQ ribs, and even Roasted pig's head if you order in advance. When you enter, it smells amazing - delicious Chinese BBQ aroma. You can see all the meats through a glass shield where they are hanging. They only do takeout and only take cash. My mom had ordered half BBQ duck and a pound and a half of BBQ pork. You can select which hanging meat you want to be cut from. The duck is chopped into small pieces and I'm not sure if they cut the BBQ pork but we did ask for it to be cut as well, they also pour some sauce on the BBQ pork. Both orders filled a decent size styrofoam container and you are given a bag of soya sauce, duck sauce and some packets of plum sauce. When we got home, we put on a pot of rice and cooked up some vegetables to go with our protein. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM fresh rice with BBQ duck and pork is one of my favorite combos!! I especially love duck with plum sauce, DROOOLLLLL. The BBQ duck was really good...tender and fatty with a slight crisp on the skin, the BBQ pork was good too, a little tougher but still really tasty, the fatty parts are the best. BBQ Express is a really great place - if you want some reasonably priced delicious Chinese BBQ meats, this is the place to hit up! What a gem of a place if you need to pick up something to bring to a pot luck or if you want to pick up something for lunch/dinner that is quick and tasty. They offer a lunch box special until 3pm(?) which is any two meats with rice, duck is an additional cost because it's so darn good. They are open every day from 10am - 7PM except they are closed on Tuesdays. I can't stop thinking about the BBQ meats here, must go ASAP!!!!

We've never been to a Chinese skewer place like this (even in California!), but we absolutely loved it. **What we ordered:** Kalbi, beef skewers, bacon and mushroom skewers, whole grilled squid, and Korean-style jajangmyeon. The portions were great--we had plenty of leftovers. The skewers are heavily seasoned with authentic Chinese spices (like ziran/cumin) and are inherently spicy. I had no problem handling the heat and thought they were incredible. My daughter couldn't handle the spice level, so we ordered a second round of non-spicy skewers. She completely polished them off, which was incredibly satisfying to see! Great service, lively vibe, and excellent food. I would definitely return--next time just my wife and me, so we can go all-in on the spicy menu!
