Not only did they tell me one price and once they got my unit in they changed the price to a much higher price went from $40 to $90 couldn't get my part back because I've done work on it. And now I get it home and I cannot get the rear wheel back on my bike because the tolerances are not right and are way too tight now I will never ever do business with these Schmucks again they are Crooks criminals do not trust them with your product learn how to fix your own stuff. It's so refreshing to go to a retail outlet where everyone is so accommodating responsive and capable. My husband and I are biking the GDMBR on new Trekbicycles and we are a little over 250 miles in. Both our bicycles were making a grinding noise and we were coming into Helena for a stay in a hotel and a rest day when we discovered Big Sky Cyclery. The service department immediately went to work on our bicycles and made the necessary adjustments of the derailers and driveline. We were back out within the hour. I would highly recommend this dealership. On the retail side they had a very complete selection and I was able to find warm gloves for the cold writing as well as dry lubricant for our chains. Got to Helena after 2 weeks riding the Continental Divide Trail and Big Sky really helped us out! All the shops in town are normally closed on Sundays but Big Sky had someone come to the shop and help us box and ship our bikes back home! If it were not for them we would have been put in a big pinch. read more

I live out of town. I bought a new bike from Big Sky Cyclery. THEY ARE VERY ACCOMMODATING, The correct frame for my height wasn't on the floor. They had the correct size unbuilt in the back room. They offered to put it together that day! I also bought accessories and they put them on for me! I also wanted a dog cart and they took the time to find one online. I ordered some things from them, after I ordered my bike through them. They jacked my bike all up when they put it together, leaving parts of my bike. Then the parts I ordered had been sold and my info In The computer was still there, but then they said there was no record of my order, I lost out on 40 dollars. They never called me to let me know my bike parts had come in or anything. I didn't get my money back, nothing, they robbed me of my down payment, that was mandatory for them to order the parts. They lost my service for good, and I warn that they run a sneaky business, they are for them selves for sure, not about the customers. Order your parts, and bikes online, or go to a different store, don't do business with criminals. read more

Whether you are passing though Helena or live here - this is a great bike shop. On a cross country trip I broke a spoke. The shop fixed it - and adjusted cables and cleaned the chain for free! I also observed how they dealt with other customers including one serous cyclist, another casual one and a woman with a young child. This is the best bike shop in town. I've been going here since 1993 and Jim has always been fair. The mechanics are awesome and the shop has always had a couple of veteran mechanics on staff. Yes occasionally the veteran mechanic can appear arrogant but that goes for any shop, its because they don't hold your hand, beat around the bush, and just tell it how it is. I wouldn't have it any other way. I don't know what what these other clowns are talking about but this shop is deeply rooted in the community and volunteers every time the community needs it. It was about four years but I just have to write this review. They are a grimy sneaky business. I was riding the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route in 2010 and was having problems with my shifting. I was a novice rider at the time and needed help badly. Now I am a very experienced rider and work at a shop in NorCal as a mechanic. All I needed at the time, though unaware, was a new derailleur hanger which typically costs $25 or for it just to be bent back in place. They ended up taking me for over 700 buying chain rings, a new rear derailleur, cassette, and a full tune headset among other things. Not only that I had to wait three days for parts. The guy who helped me was also a total douche bag the whole time. I think he was just jealous that I was doing the route he wanted to do but didn't have the balls. The funniest part about it is that they did everything BUT fix the problem I rolled away and the shifting was still failing. They helped me out in Butte though and diagnosed the problem right away. I don't remember the guys name but he had black hair, beard, glasses and scrawny. Hopefully they are doing better business but if I ever find myself in Helena again, I will stop by the shop to talk with that asshole . Great business with a friendly staff. I spread my money around to all bike shops, but I have spent the most money at BSC by far. I have bought two mountain bikes, a tandem, bow flex and elliptical from Jim. He is an avid cyclist and an advocate for a better Helena cycling community. I organized a charity ride a number of years ago and Jim provided us his services for free on his day off. I will continue to go to BSC - they are as good as it gets. read more
