Bigelow rentals seems to get a lot of flack but I will say I've been renting through them for a few years and I've found no problems (East Depere). If I call for something to be taken care of like wasp nests or a garage door not opening they are out there that day. If I have lease questions they may have to call me back but they do...that day. I've had to be late on rent a few times just for basic life things coming up, and while I did owe the $40 fee they were very pleasant, no questions asked. It's embarrassing to have to do so that was a relief. I will say a big downside is that their office is only open Monday - Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and that consists of less than 40 hours a week...not very convenient. read more

I will not disclose exact details to keep this individual's Information private, but a person died by suicide on the property, and I called to discuss this and they indicated they were unaware. I requested they send a service out to clean up the individual's blood on the concrete in our parking lot. THEY NEVER CAME, And the ground was stained. Imagine having to walk around that every single day on your way out of your apartment. Every time you pull out of your parking spot or go on a walk, you are reminded of what you also witnessed, which was the case for my partner and I. Now- there were many other things going on in this apartment building that we're not being addressed. From a tenant housing a sexual offender off the lease, to neighbors violating quiet hours on a daily basis for the two years we lived there and NOTHING being done.. this fully impacted my partner. read more

Bigelow Rentals are unprofessional, unorganized, and untrustworthy. I rented from this company for 2 1/2 years, and have had terrible experiences. Other tenants have described them as "slum lords." Bigelow has a deserved reputation of not caring about tenants. They are passive and will avoid doing any professional work, especially when it comes to contacting/working with other companies. One of the other tenants had an issue with the apartment complex next to us. Kids were throwing rocks over the fence, damaging cars. She reported it to Bigelow multiple times, and even went to go over to talk to the other complex, a position she should not have been put in. She only solved the problem by moving away. I have video proof of kids throwing rocks over the fence. Another time, after heavy snowfall, I came outside to find the parking lot fence between the two complexes propped up by 2X4's. It was evident that the snow plow had pushed too much snow against the fence, causing it to buckle and hit my car. Their solution was to prop up the fence inches from my car, as if it had not fallen (even though the scratches on my car proved otherwise). After contacting Bigelow, I was told to fill out an insurance claim and mention the other company. They would not do anything else. People would also park in the Bigelow parking lot, taking tenant spots, and walk over to the apartment complex next door (most likely to do drug deals). Bigelow would do nothing about it. In my final year, there were multiple bed bug problems. Bigelow came through and did bed bug sweeps twice with two different companies in the span of ¾ months. The second time, Bigelow put lists on our doors only a couple days in advance with the things expected from the tenants. These expectations included: washing all items of clothing, stripping the bedding, vacuuming, moving all furniture away from the walls, and leaving the apartment unlocked. This is a lot to ask of people who have real lives and work long hours. This list was also clearly meant for a house, and not apartment tenants. I came home to find my furniture moved and my place torn apart. It appeared they started doing the inspection, and then gave up. I received a non-renewal lease notice a couple days later. There was no other communication from them. I called them about the bed bug cleaning, because I was still living there, and they told me they would do it after I left. As I was leaving for work another day, I witnessed a Bigelow employee standing on her phone as people worked in the apartment. I asked her if it was normal to not watch an outside company inside of their apartments, and she told me to mind my own business. I have stayed in contact with tenants currently there. I am under the impression no bed bug cleaning services have walked in the room. The front door had a bullet hole in it for about 6 months of my tenancy. For the first year there was no exterior door lock. Homeless people would sleep inside. There was a week in the middle of 0° weather where the heat was broken. They gave the tenants a small heater that could barely heat a single room. Maintenance is a joke. My closet door fell off, and instead of replacing the hardware, they replaced it with a different closet door that had a different stain and varnish. It looked terrible. My partner had property stolen from their car. The website is completely inaccurate: my location did not have a carport, and the photographs were not representative of every unit. They almost never plowed. I once missed work because of it. When I called, they said "it's snowed everywhere". The communication of Bigelow is non-existent, they put misspelled forms on your door, and have repeatedly hung up on me in the middle of conversations. Kim has also lied multiple times, and Sarah will say whatever it takes for you to leave her alone. One time I had a billing problem, and when I called/spoke to Kim she did not help/told me the business was closed when I said I was going to come in and talk to her. I drove to the building and walked in to talk to her face to face. Her attitude made it clear that lying to avoid people is a common thing. The emergency number cannot be used as an emergency number. I once had an after hour lockout when the key provided by Bigelow broke, and it went to voicemail multiple times. I got a text saying "I am in a meeting, I will call you after". I had to call the Green Bay Police to get in contact with Bigelow. When the maintenance guy finally showed up, I showed him the broken end of the key. They would not bring me a replacement. They will also nickel and dime you for every little bit on the security deposit. They charged me 100$ for room cleaning, and a tenant who still lives there told me they have not cleaned at all, and have just repainted. There was also rust on the radiator, and a window in the shower with wood frames. DON"T RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!! read more

I don't even know where to being with Bigelow but I will warn you all. DO NOT RENT!!! These are poorly maintained properties that look nice enough but will fall apart constantly. Maintenance is stretched thin and very non-responsive. Beware that they will enter your apartment without the legal 12 hours notice! The only time this is acceptable is in an emergency! There has been two instances of this occurring so cover your back, give Bigelow a written notice that it will not be tolerated, and file a police report! Bigelow acts like they're above the law but tenants have rights! They don't want you to flex on them but do it! Stand up for your rights and don't let their rudeness and thinly veiled threats scare you! These are slumlords at best and they want you to be intimidated so you don't give them trouble. Kim the manager is multiple levels of unprofessional, rude, aggressive, and a lier. In her own words, she has done things the same in her 13 years in her position, and it's clear she isn't planning on changing. Well Kim & Bigelow Rentals, a lot has changed in 13 years and it's time to do better! Keep your tenant's number easily accessible at all times, and have some respect and professionalism. I had a really good experience with Bigelow. I was living in the Cypress Rd apartments. Two bedroom was spacious and garage was nice. The apartments were very quiet. I had one issue that management resolved immediately upon me reaching out to them. Maintenance was quick to fix any issues that I reported. Nice size closets, washer and dryer worked well, big balconies for an apartment. Cheap doors in the units. Overall I was very satisfied with the building manager and the company as a whole. read more

Me and my girl friend rented from Bigelow rentals over 4 years. Payed 875.00 for rent and 500.00 for a pet deposit.we were asked to leave we were on month to month lease when I asked why they didn't give me a reason. I think it was because I call and told Sara the plow truck diver was a dick for plowing every one driveway but mine. So when I thought I got my security deposit back. It was a bill for over 1600.00 bucks.what a shock.so I filed papers in small claims court.we ended up getting almost 500.00 bucks back and court filing fees. Was charged a $500 per deposit fee and they took carpet cleaning charges out of my security deposit ($875) when the carpet was cleaner when I left. We had to delay our move in because even though they said they had cleaned the carpets, they were crusty and disgusting. The carpet should have been replaced before we even moved in. There were bleach spots and it was worn down to strings in some areas. There were also 3 huge spots in the carpet that I cleaned with my own cleaner that removed what their $150 cleaning job didn't when I moved it. We actually were delayed moving in 2 weeks because the carpet wasnt cleaned properly before we moved it. It smelled and was literally crunchy. I was also told by Debbie that the cleaning fee was $60, (not the $150 I was charged) and that most people choose to have them do it because it's cheaper than what they can find elsewhere, probably said so I didn't clean the carpets and they could charge me 2.5 times that amount. I've also received 2 emails over the last 10 days (one from the office/property manager named Kim) asking for my forwarding address that I've already given them and replied to both and still don't have my security deposit back. Also charged $65 for damages that are not specified when nothing was damaged. In all the years I've rented, I've never not gotten my full security deposit back. Even when I rented this same company 10 years ago which is why I chose their property when I had to move. I was definitely disappointed in how far they fell. They took 2 weeks to replace my fridge when it broke and the snow removal was nonexistent. My daughter had knee surgery and fell on the iced sidewalk because they never shoveled One of our neighbors started doing it for us. Terrible management. Stay away. read more

BEWARE!!!!! Almost signed a lease with people who don't even know how many bed/baths are in each unit. Led me on for a MONTH and told me I would be able to move into unit #21 , a two bed two bath on Velp Avenue mid June. When I went online to submit my security deposit of $835, I called to verify that #21 was an upper unit. They explained they had rented out unit #21 to someone even after they had accepted my application, but unit #17 was mine. Okay glad I'm finding this out now? Then i verified it was still a two bed two bath for $835 and the woman on the phone said THERE ARE NO TWO BATHS AVAILABLE AT THE MOMENT. What?!!!! I told her I was no longer interested. I am currently scrambling trying to find a place to live because I told my current land lord I'd be moving out. They have added so much stress to my life. Now today; I get a call from their office saying they called the current tenant and it is in fact, TWO BATHROOMS! Awesome. I said something along the lines of, "I hate to be a pain, but because of the misunderstanding I want to see this unit in person tomorrow and ensure that there are two bathrooms." I shit you not, homegirl calls me back and tells me IT ONLY HAS ONE BATHROOM. "Are you still interested?" No. Why would I pay $150 more per month for a two bed one bath two minutes from where I live now. I currently have two beds and one bath. I'd like to start this out with saying I don't think I've ever written a bad review in my life, but Bigelow Rentals is the most unprofessional place I've ever lived. The management treats their tenants like absolute scum. I lived in the apartment for almost three years, being an extremely responsible tenant. I always worked with maintenance when there was an issue, never complained and paid rent early every month. Every time I'd call the office to get something repaired, I was treated with disrespect. After 2.5 years of living there, I put in my notice to move out in 60-days. Because I was ONE day off, they forced me to pay for an additional month of rent. BS, but I just let it go because I wasn't going to fight them. Now that I'm moved to an entirely different state, they just sent me a bill for $90 OVER my security deposit. They claim they spent $773 replacing my carpet because of cat damage. There was absolutely NO damage and the place was SPOTLESS - it looked better the way we left it than the day I moved in. They are now giving me 15-days with no option to refuse payment before they send it to collections. So they are screwing me out of almost $800. This place is ridiculous. The windows were so bad that mold was growing in all of my windows no matter how I tried to keep up. They never took care of issues I had in my apartment on time. They entered multiple times without me approving it. The AC unit NEVER worked and the three times maintenance came to fix it, they left a huge mess in my apartment every time. Those are just a few issues. I have worked in apartment management before and this place will find anyway to screw you over so they can make more money. I have friends that rented from them and moved out and they got a bill saying they messed the carpet up. I saw their apartments when they moved out and they scrubbed it clean. Everything breaks in the buildings and the lazy maintenance man says it was fixed my garage broke and he doesn't have a clue how to fix it. This company has its ups and downs (more ups than downs for sure. My fridge started making noise the week before Christmas. I called immediately and they send somebody out within an hour or so. It wasn't staying cold enough and spoiling my milk and dairy products. They ordered me a new compressor two days later they showed up with the compressor and fixed it. However the temperature did not change after 24 hours and the nocking got worse. I called them right away on Wednesday before Christmas and they ordered me a new fridge and had it delivered right away. I had a lot of family coming for Christmas with a lot of meals and risk my fridge breaking down or food poisoning to everyone. Professional, nice, courteous. I'm still waiting on one fix yer from move in, but it's minor and can wait. They are very busy, understaffed, but Debbie and the office lady who answers all the time are wonderful: it's quiet here, rarely hear anyone, spacious and open. No complaints other than parking where my neighbors feel they can park wherever they want, including in front of walkways with a handicap spot next to it, with no access to walkways. I lived in a Bigelow property for about two and a half years. Moved out recently due to buying a house. The apartment itself was great. No complaints. However, if you need anything, I'll just say good luck. There are repeated instances over my time at Bigelow that can only be described negatively. For reference, the main door to our apartment building never worked properly. We called and they "fixed" it. Two days later, it broke again. Eventually, we just said screw it and just dealt with having a broken security door. One night our carbon monoxide detector went off. That's not good, right? No worries, I'll call their emergency after hour's maintenance line. I got their voicemail. Imagine calling 911 and getting a voicemail. I ended up calling the non-emergency number in Brown county and the fire department had us evacuate the building to clear things out. I had maintenance come in several times for the same issues. One of our toilets would constantly run. We submitted probably 3 or 4 maintenance requests for that one stupid toilet. You'd think they'd fix it one of those times. Our AC wasn't blowing cold air in the middle of the summer. No problem, that happens. Called maintenance, who replaced the unit...with the loudest AC unit I've ever heard. It also spit out little bits of dirt. Also, do not set the expectation that you will get any of your security deposit back. They spent 6.5 hours cleaning our apartment after we cleaned it. My family is not a messy family and they came up with all kinds of fictitious things wrong. They also replaced some blinds in a bedroom for being below quality expectations. I asked which set was damaged and they only said, "one of the bedrooms." Uh huh. Definitely not a money grab there. They charge $100 to shampoo the carpet. I'm going to tell you right away, the carpet needed to be replaced before I moved in. But it's an opportunity to seize my money. I got a lousy $32.88 back. When I called to get an explanation on charges, I was frequently interrupted, which should tell you is pretty par for their over the phone customer service. Overall, I'd say the room itself was fine, but everything else sucked. read more

These guys seem to get pretty heavy negative reviews but I have been renting from for 10 years and have had little to no problems with them. Management ladies in the office are nice and helpful, maintenance men usually respond in a timely manner to issues (not that I ever have many). Really the only thing is the parking lot/plowing issue. Bad snow storm this past weekend and it did take longer than expected to get plowed out but that is really the only issue. read more

If their score doesn't scare you away let me explain our experience. My sons apartment was broken into. Big living room window broken. SIX weeks later he finally had the glass replaced. Obviously they were trying to take advantage of a young adult so we got involved and told them that he was not going to keep his grand daughter in a freshly broken into apartment with no window until it was fixed and because it took six weeks to fix we told them we didn't think it was fair for him to have to pay rent for that period of time. Expecting some understanding we thought they would give him some type of break on the rent for that time. We spoke to the lady in the office and after several excuses it was obvious they didn't care and weren't going to do anything for us. I get pretty stubborn when someone tries to screw me or my family over so we did not pay the rent for that time period and he gave his notice to move out. Long story short they garnished his wages. There's a ton more to this story but the bottom line is that they could have had a single pane window glass replaced in two days and it took them 6 weeks. If that's not enough, his apartment filled with gas due to the stove pilot light going out and he was told that it happens on those old stoves and he should just open the windows and doors the next time it happens. NO FIX! This company is about one thing and it's not about you, your experience or your family. Do yourself a favor and find a company with four or more stars and save yourself the crap you have to deal with renting from these buffoons. read more

Rented for 3.5 years and had a great experience. They responded pretty quickly to maintenance requests or questions, not that there were many over the years. Wish they took better care of the parking lot in winter, it's like an ice rink, but that's the only issue I have. We loved our apartment and only left it to move into the home we bought. We got most of our security deposit back, which was awesome. I did spend a lot of time cleaning before we moved out though. I have rented in one place, I thought it was a good place to go through & the apartment that I moved into was a brand new building on Ontario Road in Bellevue, WI. The apartment that they showed me was put all together. Now when I moved into my apartment, the doors weren't put together correctly. When I shut the door, there was huge gaps. I called on the issue & it took weeks for them to come & fix it. Now that wasn't my only issue. The painting wasn't finished. The plastering in the kitchen wasn't finished. There was a hole in my ceiling by where the plastering wasn't complete. There was nicks in all the hardwood in the apartment. The hallway had wrapping, no one vacuumed it for almost 9 months. All things I called on multiple times. But the last straw was when I got a letter that my children were not able to use chalk in from of my garage & in my driveway spot. When I called them on the letter & questioned why not. The rain would wash it away. The drawings were that of 5 year olds. Nothing bad. I asked why it is not in the agreement that I read over & signed. Their response was that they can't put everything in the agreement because then it would over 100 pages. So if you have kids, make sure they don't play with chalk. It was my first time renting in an apartment and it was my last. read more

Bigelow is great as long as you never need anything from them. It's sad because I really like the apartment itself but maintenance issues are never dealt with properly. It will take weeks for anyone to show up and then maintenance will probably only do a half-ass temporary fix so you'll need to call again and then it will be several more weeks before maintenance shows up only to again not solve the problem. If you enjoy calling dozens of times and waiting several months for simple issues to be fixed, then this is the company for you. The staff is at least polite but that doesn't get you much because nothing will be done about your requests and complaints. There are also cleanliness issues in the common areas, mold problems around the windows (again, good luck having maintenance look at that), and the front door of our "secure" building doesn't latch. Finally, enjoy Bigelow's total disregard for people with disabilities. You would think that they had never heard of the Americans with Disabilities Act by their total unwillingness to provide reasonable accommodations. I have a friend in a different building that has gotten absolutely nowhere with them on this front. These could be nice properties if Bigelow bothered to put a tiny bit of care and money into them. read more

They ignore all requests and never check their mail giving you monthly late fees because your rent check wasn't there? Our landlord skipped town after 3 months of being in the building and never told anyone, without any warning! We had to contact the main office in Green Bay after and they're just awful and no help. What a horrible place to rent from. I have been at Ledgecrest for over a year and the management has failed to do any maintenance requests that were put in. They say they will send someone right over and no one ever shows up. Last summer we had a outrageous hornet problem and called them a million times to have them solve the issue. They never showed up. We already have the hornets starting again this summer and we aren't even going to waste our time asking the management to do anything about it, because we know they won't. What is the point of having a balcony if you can't use it? I am highly allergic to bee stings and could never go on the balcony. Last summer we also had a terrible spider problem. At night they would be all over our balcony and they were humongous. I have never seen that many spiders in that small of an area. Towards the end of summer, the spiders were actually inside our apartment!! They would come out of the vents in the bathrooms. When we complained about this, they said it was too expensive for them to deal with the problem so we would have to attempt to take care of it ourselves. If you are not a smoker, I would also not suggest this complex, as they allow smoking in the apartments. If your neighbors smoke, you will smell it. It comes in through the doors and vents and makes your apartment reek. I have called to complain about that many times and they say they will tell the neighbors to ventilate better, but it never happens. Along the same lines of cigarette smoke is the marijuana smokers that live next to us. The managers said there is nothing that they can do, that they won't even contact the residents and ask them to stop. My apartment smells of marijuana smoke all the time and I don't think it is fair that I have to deal with the illegal actions of my neighbors. Further, the management when we moved in were extremely rude. The lady would not answer phone calls and would do communications through text messages. One time she sent me a text that was supposed to go to the painter. It is extremely unprofessional. She also did not want to deal with my fiance because she stated that she usually works with the women, so she didn't want to work with him. It is ridiculous. DO NOT RENT FROM BIGELOW. As my fist apartment I loved it. At first. After staying with friend after friend a full bed, bath, and kitchen all to myself was great. Then I realized the lock on my door was busted. Reported it, never got fixed. When one of the light switches didn't do anything I realized it was for a garbage disposal in the sink that didn't work. Reported it, never got fixed. Then black mold started growing on the ceiling. Reported it, nothing was ever done about it. The neighbors down the hall argued every night. And I mean FULL SCALE SCREAMING/PUNCHING. EVERY NIGHT. When they got busted for drugs the new neighbors downstairs did the same thing. I had to pound on my floor at 3am more times than I can count. Reported all of this, nothing was done. When I finally decided to check out my storage space in the basement (where the washer and dryer I never used were) I threw up. There was mold, which I later found to be seriously poisonous, on every inch of the walls and ceiling. The basement flooded every time it rained. I am one who never complains and feel the need to let prospective tenants know my experience. I gave them my 60 day notice at the beginning of January. They sent me a letter that said to have the keys turned in and carpets professionally cleaned by the end of February and if that date changed to let them know. I turned in everything the end of February and asked if there was anything else I had to do when I turned in my keys in. The lady said "no, and that I would be getting my deposit back in 3 weeks." Three weeks later I get a letter that states I owe rent for the entire month of March. Since the letter stated to have the keys turned in by end of February and carpets professionally cleaned by that date, I was under the impression that I did not have to pay for March. Otherwise, I would not have rushed my move out and took my time. I am very disappointed with how they run there business and will never endorse them! read more
