We had a great kayaking trip of Trinidad Beach with Savannah. We were originally scheduled for July 4, but the weather was rainy so we rescheduled. It turned out to be the best weather of our vacation. It was my spouse's first time kayaking and Savannah gave him a lot of attention. It was a fabulous time.

Our group was age 10 - 64 and everyone survived :-) *** request Chris *** I guess I didn't realize how potentially dangerous it was until a couple of our teenagers fell out of the raft during a rapid.... But they were ok... Only bruises and some scrapes. They would do it all over again.... Falls and all. We went on a Class III tour which included Class I - III rapids. It's sort of "medium adventurous". If you have a lot of younger or older people in your group, you are probably good sticking with a Class I - II tour. But you will be safe during a Class III if you tell your guide that you can't swim, don't want to be thrown from the raft, etc. TIPS: DRINK A LOT OF WATER, show up early, expect to be exhausted the next day, expect to do a little hiking / climbing during lunch, Bring sunscreen, get one of those things that help your sunglasses stay around your neck because you will lose them, wear a visor or a cap under your helmet, bring cash to tip your guide because they do a hell of a job and they only make $100/day. IT'S A LOT OF FUN and the owners are really nice people.

100% TRUE TO THEIR WORD In an era where reliance on the…read moreinternet to research a regularity nowadays, I know how some can be skeptical of what they see vs what is actually delivered. In this case, EVERYTHING promoted and promised on the website is what you get! Doug, Heidi, their family and entire staff do an amazing job to make you feel welcome and part of the Marble Mountain Ranch family. From the moment we arrived at the Ranch, we were met by Doug, who hopped on his ATV and led us to our cabin, gave us a tour and informed us about dinner that first night. I'll break the rest of this review up into parts to help you get an idea of how much fun MMR is as well as how everything they promise is delivered upon...all while trying not to spoil the surprise of how amazing being there is. BOOKING: It is a working ranch and know that it is normal to get their answering machine when you call. Leave a message if you don't get Doug or Heidi on the phone with your number and know they'll definitely call you back. Heidi is amazing and will answer any and all questions you have. Do make sure you have a "Plan B & C" as dates/weeks fill up rather quickly. Be sure to have your whole party size ready as well as Heidi does a great job making sure your whole party has adequate and appropriately comfortable accommodations for your party. ACCOMMODATIONS/LODGING: The cabins are beautiful and plenty spacious for all your party's needs. Every cabin is equipped with a window A/C unit that keeps everything plenty cool on hot days and a floor heater for those trips where the weather turns cooler. They are stocked it's pots, pans, dish and silverware, a full refrigerator/freezer and microwave. Bedrooms are perfect size for every guest as well. FOOD: Fresh cooked breakfast, lunch, and dinners are prepared by Heidi and her staff and provide you delicious meals that sufficiently fill you for the day ahead or to fill a hungry belly after a full day of activities. There's a variety of options for everyone - and at dinner time, there are wine and beer options as well. ACTIVITIES: You WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! Everyone, at every skill level will have an opportunity to experience everything. From your time in the arena learning how to guide, ride and get comfortable on a horse, to being on the trails taking in the forest and amazing views, to your time on the River going through the rapids, you are never disappointed. Doug and Heidi employ some of the most knowledgeable, kind, and engaging staff our group has ever met at a vacation getaway. Heidi makes sure you provide them, when booking, your skill levels to ensure everyone has a safe and amazing time. CONCLUSION: In the technological age where we're perennially connected to all things electronics, this was an amazing opportunity to unplug, get away from the hustle and bustle of busy life and enjoy nature in all its glory. We had two teenage girls in our party and they didn't miss being unable to scroll social media, or the internet all day long. By the end of each day you were physically spent and happy to have downtime with family and other ranch guests. Each night there were activities and opportunities to engage with and get to know Doug & Heidi, their family and staff. Our family came in with no expectations other than the excitement of a new and different opportunity at a getaway vacation. We were blown away at how amazing the experience was and we're already planning a return visit in the coming years. From our family to Doug, Heidi, their family and staff we say THANK YOU for an AMAZING experience that we will not soon forget! I hope this review helps continue to bring you great business and prosperity in the future...and we look forward to seeing you all again soon!

We were fully occupied from morning until night, coasting from one unforgettable and enriching experience to the next. The ranch itself is stunning, and set in a spectacular landscape. It was a stretch for us financially but absolutely some of the best money we have ever spent

He gets everything arranged, gets you fitted with the right bike, and sends you out with a guide to get you through the forest on bikes. The guide we had today was Josh and he was very good! ( after biking he added his sweet dog, Annie, to the group for the rafting section!) along our biking he told us some fun facts about the Redwood Trees and some exotic plants! Our biking section of the day was GREAT! It is actually a perfect ride you start on pavement and then you end up on a gravel road with some uphills and some downhill but nothing super steep allowing you to take in the scenery. Can the forest be any more beautiful!! The trees are enormous!! Some have been burned, some struck by lighting, some both!! But they are still standing! After biking we drove to the Smith river where they laid out a great lunch! After lunch we geared up for river rafting down the Smith River, the only un-dammed river in California! It is spectacularly clear! Since we were here in June, the river was not super deep, but we did have some fun rapids and some really nice open spaces that were very mellow, allowing you to take in the scenery! For those more daring there is a stop where you can jump off rocks into the water. The rafting portion lasted about 2 to 3 hours. Our entire day started at 9:30 and we were done around 4 PM. I thought it was a fantastic way to spend the day! I highly recommend them.

I was so impressed with our guides, Nick and Alex, and their local knowledge of seabirds, marine mammals, and intertidal species. Whales are cool, but there are also a lot of other really cool animals & birds in Trinidad Bay. And these guides know just where to take you. They were not afraid to take us into a little rougher waters, when we asked them to, likely because they are so skilled and experienced. I also really appreciated all of the paddling guidance they provided making sure I was using my core/legs more than my arms. I was with a very large group and the guides handled everything with such class and professionalism. It is a step above any outfitter I've ever paddled with. We are really lucky to have them in Trinidad to help us access some of the most fantastic coastline along the California coast. They also do a great job interpreting the California Coastal National Monument! All of those rocks and islands are part of a statewide national monument that runs from the Oregon border south to Mexico! Wow! What a treasure. He's got the boats, he got the gear, he's got the locations for successful outings, yet the real qualities follow. Eric is an intelligent, resourceful, avid outdoorsman who knows the waters we fished around Shelter Cove due to years of guiding, and we caught fish! On our trip we caught at least 8 species of fish and brought home at least 12 fish. I say we caught at least 30-fish, but some were too small for fish and game regulations. The most important aspect to me was Eric's attention to detail regarding safety; the redundancy in marine radios, navigation tools, and consideration for weather conditions and watching for weather that was going to make the trip back to the launch site difficult. I spent 13-years as an Air Force Pararescueman (PJ) and have had my share of rescues, both on the coast in our Blackhawk helicopters and parachuting from a C-130 1,000-miles out to sea to perform a rescue. Eric is the epitome of a safe mariner and guide. My wife Kerry was very comfortable and secure, and caught more fish than any of us! Remember, you're in a kayak that has all the amenities of a ocean worthy kayak- very stable and plenty of dry storage space, deck storage space, no head and no galley (bathroom and kitchen). So, a lesson I learned was to strategically place food and water in reachable positions. You can tie down and stow gear n food on the front n back of the boat, and Eric will slide by and fetch it for you. Also we spent 7.5 hours in the cockpit which is totally up to your party on if you beach somewhere for a stretch and comfort break. We elected to fish and fish and it was totally cool with Eric, 7.5 hours of continuous fishing- marvelous. The addition of Eric's fish-finding sonar made for staying on the fish easier. I could easily go on, but I think I've made lots of great points on why we'll be going again!
