Most popular and beautiful beach in Trinidad, California, and thats saying something since there are 6 other super special beaches in and around the town. Some maps are still wrong, so don't go up to Patricks Point to find it. Its right here in town - just follow main street and there's one entrance to the right of the school off Stagecoach, or keep going on Trinity then right at Trinidad Bay on Edwards all the way down to the beach. You'll find amazing Nature, huge rocks, tide pools, picturesque hiking, happy locals, and occasional surfers. Crabbing and charter fishing boats, and some brave kayakers dot the Pacific Ocean with whales, seals, and lots of seabirds. read more

If you go at low tide you can see starfish and all kinds of things, not for me because i hate sea creatures but others will like it! There is also a hiking trail that goes up on a cliff by the water and is very pretty but also quite steep. Be sure to check the wind!!! It was so windy that i got sand all in my eyes and everything and I genuinely felt like i could blow over it was so windy. Pretty beach to look at scenery, but not a ton of walking space. read more

When I was staying in Trinidad, I got up early, grabbed a coffee and went for a stroll on the southern portion of this beach. You can get gorgeous panoramic views of the ocean from the parking lot. Trinidad State Beach is a long stretch of sandy beach just north of the Trinidad Harbor and pier. It has lots of sea stacks everywhere that make it picturesque. I found a little trail that took me down to Old Home Beach (also known as Indian Beach). Nearby points of interests include a memorial dedicated to those lost at sea and a trail to Trinidad Head Lighthouse. read more

This will likely be your first Instagram moment if you ever make it up to Trinidad, and it's a worthy stop even if you're not the beachcomber type. While I watched a few brave souls frolic on the surf, keep in mind this is not SoCal but NorCal and really Far NorCal. A walk in the sand suited me fine as Trinidad Head and Pewetole Island tentpole the beach and turn it into a cozy cove. What a relaxing local's beach! I stumbled upon this beach on accident while looking for a hiking trail and a different beach nearby. This beach is located at the end of town and is just minutes from the Trinidad Memorial Lighthouse, Trinidad Pier, and Trinidad Head (where the Trinidad Head Lighthouse is located). The parking lot is a decent size and was only about halfway full on a Saturday evening. The beach is literally steps from the parking lot! You will also see sweeping views of Trinidad Head up above. Although there were many people out, it didn't seem to be overcrowded. It's a great family beach and I saw so many little kids running around and getting in the water. The tides are low, making it swimmable for all. The waves aren't too brisk and the sand is soft and clean! Didn't notice any garbage which is great. It seems like the locals really take care of this beach. The Trinidad Memorial Lighthouse was recently moved right near the parking lot. I would recommend a stop there as it's really convenient. There are clean restrooms located right behind the lighthouse as well. f you're up for some hiking, there's a beautiful hiking trail that will take you up to Trinidad Head and the Trinidad Head Memorial Lighthouse. The path can be accessed right from the beach! You can either start on the paved path next to the Memorial Lighthouse or take the steps next to the beach parking lot. Trinidad State Beach is located near downtown Trinidad in Humboldt County. Dogs are allowed on leash so bring your four legged friends because they will love this beach too! There is plenty of parking when we went on a Friday mid day. This beach has beautiful views and is a great place to hang out, dip your toes in the sand, and relax. It's been a while since I've been here last, although when I returned I realized how much I love this place! The views are gorgeous! There are also stairs and a trail where you can hike up nearby the parking lot if you want a different gorgeous view of the ocean! read more

First off, don't punch "Trinidad State Beach" on google maps. Apparently there is an easier parking lot with quick beach access; read the other reviews below. Our hike down to the beach included narrow shrubs of poison oak-looking plants and really wasn't pleasant in flip flops. It also often gets foggy, which adds a cool mysteriously haunted feeling to the beach but also limits your visibility. Locals are hit/miss here. Most are very kind and friendly. Others do their part to ignore you the best they can when you politely ask for directions. Some go as far as to verbally berate you angrily for speeding in the parking lot (I was going under 10 mph, and nowhere within 500 ft from her). Apparently its a "local" thing here to "protect their land" from "city f*ckers" like me. Apparently its also a local thing for mothers to swear in front of their children (she didn't take comment well, as expected). Judging by her teeth, meth and expired Corona's were her best friends. Threatened to call the cops on me, I offered to call them myself. Felt bad for her kids who had to watch the whole thing, and her partner who tried to ignore the whole situation by packing up that beat up 2000 Honda Accord. Good luck buddy. read more

After being sun burnt at a beach, here I am at another beach. It was so pretty that my friend started taking pictures as if she was doing a maternity shoot. My friends and I bought a lunch to eat here. Then we walked the length of the beach. Being at the beach is always relaxing. There's parking all the way at the top where we had to walk a while down to get to the beach. There is closer parking available right next to the beach. read more

I hesitate to give away this little secret, but this place is magical. Perhaps the best sea stack beach in this area of California; this is what I've always pictured when I imagined the rugged coast of Humboldt county. When we arrived just before noon, the whole beach was covered in fog. As we descended from the parking lot to the beach and the fog began to lift, we were greeted with magical towering sea stacks covered in thick moss, lagoons, mini-caves, a creek running along the cliffs, and a big, wide ocean. And plenty of marine life, as well - crabs, urchins, mussels...I don't think I've ever seen so many sand dollars on one beach in my life! You will not be *totally* alone here, but especially at low-tide, which is super, super low, other visitors will remain off in the distance. Climb the rocks and watch the surfers on a "warm" (it's all relative...) day! Slight minuses: no bathrooms, not much parking - a worthy sacrifice for a beach to ourselves. read more

It's a nice beach that we often went to after a long drive. Waves aren't that big compared to other beaches and there are creatures by the rocks if you walk far away from the parking lot. It's what you would call a basic beach. There are some poky plants you have to walk through to get from the parking lot to the beach area, but of you bring shoes it's not a problem. Some areas also have lots of sticks but really it's not an issue. It never really seems to be busy when I go. There are some dogs there though. read more

Gorgeous day on a beautiful day. I've been stopping and wandering around many different beaches on this little road trip in Northern Califronia, and once I saw this sign, I didn't need any more encouragement to spend a few more minutes in one of my favorite newly discovered little towns. The parking lot is very easy to find and it's a quick walk to the beach. Beautiful rocks stand out as icons on this vast stretch of coastline and on this particular day, very few people were out and about. read more

I was blown away by this beach. We swung by at around 11am. The view was breathtaking, so beautiful and so surreal. Coming from southern Cali, our beaches look nothing like this. This is exactly what I was aiming to see coming to Humboldt County. It was worth every minute of our 12 hour drive to this place. read more

Beautiful beach with decent sized waves and soft sand. Live starfish and other sea creatures on the rocks. I think I should have parked on the south side of the beach because the hike down/up was a bit rough with kids. read more
