This is by far my favorite rollercoaster on Earth, and it is especially amazing in the rain…read more It's one of the longest drops on any wooden rollercoaster anywhere, because the first drop goes down into a large hole that was dug into the ground, so the drop is actually longer than the ride is tall. I have been on it hundreds of times in my life, and I appreciate that it's thrilling but isn't rough on your body, so even with my aches and pains and arthritis, I can ride 10 times in a row without slowing down or taking a break. I have a very low threshold for rough rides, and this is one of the smoother wooden rollercoasters out there (let's not talk about Viper). Wooden rollercoasters will always have some amount of rickety-ness because that is the nature of the material. If you want a glass smooth ride, try a steel coaster (or Goliath, which has steel track). I find The Beast at King's Island to be a rougher experience than The American Eagle. It's a much better experience when it is racing, but Six Flags, unfortunately, only races the ride on super rare occasions. It is the tallest, fastest, racing wooden rollercoaster in the world. I wanted to address the review claiming that their train derailed: If this ACTUALLY happened, it would have been in the news. This has literally never happened in the entire life of this coaster, and is super rare in the industry as a whole. Ride derailments are big news, and would not go unreported. They are also nearly impossible due to the upstop wheels that run along the bottom of the track. No one has ever been injured on The American Eagle. Every off season, sections of track are removed and replaced, and every morning, the ride is inspected to ensure that it is safe to operate, then test cycles are run to be sure that the ride is safe. A maintenance team member walks the entire track every single morning. They say that once you build a wooden rollercoaster, you never stop building it. Wood is constantly being replaced. Track is being replaced. Safety is taken extremely seriously in the amusement industry because no one wants that kind of bad publicity, and because no one wants to get sued. The ride is well maintained, just needs a coat of paint. The white paint is cosmetic, and is not a structural component. I'm hoping to see some cosmetic work on The American Eagle now that the new corporate management has been making cosmetic improvements throughout the park. The dark brown hardware cloth to prevent graffiti, for instance, is an eyesore, and could be replaced with white in order to match the station wall it is attached to. There has never been a guest fatality at this park (or most parks) related to ride malfunctions. This information can be easily looked up and confirmed.

(ex: Christmas trees!!) - Post-run granola bar and banana really hit the spot. - There was a giant inflatable reindeer. I got separated from some friends and got the best text ever - "We're at the reindeer butt." Cons: - The start line was really crowded and disorganized, and people lined up at the wrong pace marker. I was running really slowly and yet managed to pass a ton of people. - The course does a really tight turn halfway through, and that's where they decided to have their water/gatorade station. Also, they put the water/gatorade tables really close to the trail, so it was maybe three people wide. In short, this area was a crazy bottleneck and people were stopping and stumbling over each other and I pretty much had to walk this part. - How the heck do people eat cookies and candy (M&M mini's) during the course? I thought I would choke on them, so I didn't eat any, thinking that there would be more at the end. Nope :( - They didn't have very many speakers playing Christmas music. Kind of a letdown.

But let's be honest, what do you expect when you sign up for a 5k in the middle of Winter?! The beards are really itchy to run in, but it's half of the fun of the race, so don't be a pansy and keep it on! I expected there to be a lot of Christmas music at this event, but that wasn't the case, so that was kind of a downer, but the sound of other runners jingle bells and ho ho hos get ya through the 3 miles! Overall, it's a pretty enjoyable 5k and working out around the holidays when we're all shoving our faces with food with family and friends can't be a bad thing for anyone's health!

I have been on well over 50 rollercoasters in my lifetime, and I have never feared for my life on a…read morerollercoaster before this one. The vest restraints on X-Flight are unique in that they never stop getting tighter throughout the ride. Every time you are pinned to the back of your seat by the forces of the ride, that harness gets a little bit tighter. By the end of the ride, I could not breathe. My vision started to go blurry, and then black. I did not fully pass out, because I was able to get out of my seat and exit the ride platform without any assistance, but I was so lightheaded that I was running into people, and I could not see clearly for quite some time afterward. I have never been constricted by an anaconda, but I imagine that this is exactly what it would feel like. Depending on your body proportions, this ride can be outright dangerous, and I am shocked that no one has ever died on it. If I were to get stuck on this ride (technical difficulties, e-stop, etc), I do not think I would live to tell the tale. It is not only dizzying, but excruciatingly painful to have your rib cage constricted like it's in a vice. This displays a terrifying lack of awareness of human anatomy. Our rib cage is designed to expand and contract. If the restraint gets tighter every time we exhale, we will no longer have room to INHALE, and breathing is a vital, life-sustaining function. New vest restraints are snug, but they do not progressively get tighter throughout the ride. Take, for example, the vest restraints on Valravn, Banshee, Gatekeeper, or even Wrath of Rakshasha right at this very park. I think it is criminal that Six Flags has not had X-Flight updated with the updated, safer, vest restraints that the manufacturer is now using. I urge you not to ride if you have a lot of soft tissue on your chest. If you are a woman with a larger cup size (as in, above a D), and a small stomach, this may very well be the last ride of your life. Six Flags, please update these restraints and in the meantime, consider changing the name to something more appropriate like "Boob Buster" or "Anaconda," Or add a cup size limitation to the ride rules and restrictions. "Anyone larger than a D-cup may not ride."

I've lived around this park for years and haven't actually visited until recently. It's not the most 'manicured' park I've been to, but I really did have a great time and loved being able to stare out at the water. It could do with some general cleaning of the picnic tables under the covered area and benches. I found it to be very buggy, so bring a hat or some bug spray with you. There is a parking lot, but to get to it and out of it, you have to go down a very narrow drive. It basically fits one car, so be careful when entering and exiting the park.

They called me a few weeks later to ask if I could switch from 12-4 to 6-9pm. I told them no since it was a child's birthday party. They confirmed 12-4 would still work. We arrived the day of the party and they did not have our reservation. I had to find my receipt to prove my reservation. They ran my credit card for the remaining balance and THEN informed me that it would be an additional $7 for every adult that wanted to enter. This was never told to me until right then and there. Paying for every adult to enter would have cost another $100 or so. This wasn't even for adults to skate- just to accompany their children into the party. Even if they didn't want to skate, it was still $7. We asked for a refund and it was refused. I had to put 1/2 down to reserve my party, but it was never reserved. So I'm not sure what that money was used for since it wasn't to hold a spot. Maybe with all the money they are making they should use some of it to out back into the business. Place looks and smells disgusting. Buyer beware. Read the website. Don't just go off the information you are told when booking the party over the phone.

We hiked the glacial park loop for about 2.3 miles and brought our dog who loved it! I would highly recommend heading to Glacial Park for this wonderful sights and wild life adventure!
