We did the monument tour, it was a fun way to go around town and see some sites while getting a history lesson from our tour guide. We were here in the Spring of 2024, since we were 90 ish days out from the summer Olympics we didn't get to tour around the Effie Tower area due to the construction in that section. The tour time in total was around 3 hours with a lunch stop in between. Actual time moving was around 45 minutes. We covered around 4.5 miles, well under the 15 kilometers noted on the map at the meet up spot inside Le Peloton Café. Initially we wanted to do the hidden Paris tour the first day we got in town, but instead of booking on line we tried to just show up and see if we could join in person. When we showed up we found out that ride was cancelled since it didn't meet the minimum amount of reservation the day before. So if you're thinking about going in the tour go ahead and book it in advance. read more

Great local company that provides tours currently in Paris, Versailles, and Champagne. They provide not just tours but also rent out bikes if you want to go it on your own. If you sign up for tours, the operating company will email you details about meeting places and times after you register for your tours. They also provide you with helmets and basic tarps if the weather is not behaving. I took the Versailles tour from Paris and it was a lot of fun--we started off meeting at the coffeehouse Le Peloton Cafe, and then we took the train together to Versailles. Once there, we picked up our bikes and were on our way. We got to see a market, which was a lot of fun and where we picked up snacks (I got some paella and some sausage). We got to see Marie-Antoinette's estate, which is quite fabulous and beautiful. The house itself was nice but not incredibly exciting, but the grounds and setting looked like they came out of a Disney movie. Was a lot of fun to see the farm and the homes before we made our way to the Palace of Versailles. The tour guide, Julia, split ways with us at that point and we were given a few hours left before the palace closed to tour the grounds and the palace itself. I also took the Champagne tour from Paris on a different day and it was fantastic--we got to take e-bikes all over the Champagne region and covered a lot of ground thanks to the e-bikes having some power to help propel you on those steeper inclines! We got to do some wine tastings as well as get a tour of vineyards. We got to have a lovely picnic lunch at the top of some vineyards and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. I had no idea how beautiful and picturesque Champagne was! There were areas you couldn't see unless you were on this bike tour and I'm grateful to have gotten a more intimate experience of Champagne. Our guide Dan was knowledgeable, friendly and personable. I'll definitely be using this operator again for tours in Paris and Champagne! This was so much more than a simple bike tour! Our guide was the impeccably dressed showman, Simon, who entertained our group with his insights and observations about Paris and French culture. His clever commentary had us not only laughing, but also really thinking about deeper subjects. This wasn't so much a bike tour as it was a 3.5-hour comedy show that we talked about for days after the tour/show. Simon navigated a fairly "juicy" (his words) group around the streets of Paris making us feel safe and very much looked-after. We were beyond impressed and when we return to Paris with friends later in the year we're going to hire Simon to take us on a private tour because, honestly, we just want more of the show! And then i was off. Overall, had a great time cycling through town. Best time we had in Paris in Europe. I know that is a big statement to make but is so true . I would suggest 50 3. for the picnic = the tour guide will suggest 3 different places to buy meat then cheese then bread. I would suggest to ask for a place that sells already made sandwiches so you are not piecing the sandwich together at the picnic on the ground with your hands. 4. Bring a backpack = trust me on this = if you are staying in a hotel bring a towel from the hotel to place on the ground for your picnic or find a disposable table cloth or something to spread everything out on , also some sort of disposable silverware to slice your bread to make your sandwich in case you can not find pre-made sandwiches pro tip for the owners = 1.when giving the history lessons try to do this in the shade . 2.work with the vendors at the market to get pre-made sandwiches for the picnic 3 have the tour guide bring some sort of light blanket to place on the ground for your customers to sit on while picnicking. We had an excellent experience with Richard on the Hidden Paris tour--his knowledge of history, architecture, and living like a local brought another dimension to our visit in Paris. He also shared recommendations for his favorite creperie and Boulangerie and they were EXCELLENT (and inexpensive, too!). The bikes and helmets were comfortable and in good condition; the group size was manageable. Our only complaint is that the tour is marketed as accessible to everyone, but it really isn't. Paris is a crowded city and not completely flat. Several folks in our tour struggled to navigate around cars, narrow streets, and to keep pace. Joy ride in Paris...13/10/2010 The only thing missing was a baguette sticking out of my backpack. These guys at Bike About know what they are doing. Tours have never been my thing, I approached it with an open mind. You really gotta do this in your first day or two visiting Paris, I figured at least the fresh air and exercise will help with the jetlag. It turned out to be a great decision as these guys took us to places off the beaten path, that we returned to for more of an in depth visit. Nicolé was our guide, she really took care of the group, making sure everyone was present and accounted for at each stop. All you gotta do is know how to ride a two-wheeler. She added in her commentary on each area which made it a facinating trip historically and present day. Simon took us on a beautiful and entertaining ride through the back streets of Paris, along the river, and to some beautiful photo spots. His commentary and hilarious accents made the tour just so much fun that had us laughing out loud over and over. He expertly balanced history and humor and added a couple of 'off script' stops for us too! Our kids (12 and 16) said it was the best part of our trip to Paris. We've taken bike tours in many European cities and this was, hands down, the best one we've ever been on! Simon was absolutely incredible as an energetic, funny, informative, engaging guide and took us through hidden courtyards, parks and paths along the Seine, past the most picture worthy spots, and was full of fascinating stories and hilarious lesser known facts at stops all across Paris. We had a group of 7 that included adults, teenagers and even a 10 year old, and they had various sized bikes for everyone, all of which said that this was their very favorite day and activity in Paris. Dont even know where to begin. I've been to a bunch of places and taken a bunch of tours like any other tourist in the world. But this Versailles tour with Mark, was literally the best tour experience I have ever had in my life and was by far one of the top highlights of my honeymoon. Mark had the entire group laughing constantly throughout the entire day, while seamlessly telling us about the city, market and history of Versailles. He knew all the ins and outs of the city and experience and ensured that everyone left feeling the same way. The best part of his tour was the fact that it was so obvious that Mark was so into what he was showing the group - it did not seem like the regular scripted tour that you expect when you hear "tour guide" and he was as excited and eager to see everything as we were. We can't thank him enough for an incredible experience and tour. He should be promoted and be given a golden bike of excellence for the work he does. We did both the Paris city tour as well as the Versailles tour. The Versailles tour was better in my opinion, but the Paris tour was still a great way to see the city. The one thing missing from the Paris tour was that our guide would point out shops or attractions and tell us we should come back to visit them for longer, but she didn't give information on nearby metro stops or cross streets so we could find our way back. I liked the Versailles tour because it's so beautiful to bike through the park. It was more rigorous than the Paris tour, as you are on a trail and there are more hills so be prepared to work up a sweat if you aren't used to bike riding like me. I really liked that we got the picnic lunch at the market and then sat near the water to eat later, but we ended up dropping half our lunch because only one of our two bikes had a basket and it was overflowing with our lunch. We went over a bump in the trail, and our bag jumped out onto the dirt road. I'd recommend insisting everyone in your group get a bike with a basket - when we were first getting our bikes the guide said that if we were in a couple than only one of us could get a basket because there weren't enough bikes with baskets. Alternatively you could bring a larger backpack for your lunch if you're comfortable biking with a backpack on. Also beware of bringing wine, as some people on our tour got their wine taken away at security. The other thing I wish for the Versailles tour was that there would be more time to explore Marie Antoinette's cottage. It was really interesting there but we barely had time to visit and missed out on parts of it. We ended up being the last of our group back from the area, and even then we could have used another 20 minutes or so there. read more

Charlotte was a great tour guide. She's very knowledgable about the city and put everyone at ease. It was very cold and she supplied scarves and gloves to those in our tour who had forgotten to bring some along. If you're planning on going on a bike ride in January/February, it's best to bring gloves as your hands can get quite cold. The tour had a very a relaxed feeling, everyone associated with Bike About Tours was very laid back and easy to talk to. I wish I could go on more tours with them. They were also very responsive during the whole booking process and gave excellent recommendations for places to visit/eat/shop. Paul was our tour guide and he was interesting, extremely informative, and very funny. We enjoyed the 4+ hours we spent on the ride and learned more and covered much more ground than any walking tour would allow. Great way to get around and get familiar with historic Paris. Not much biking, more like a cruise around town so exercise quotient is low if you want that, but super guides like Simon, the Aussie we had. He made the tour fun and interesting, but it is not a tour for those wishing to learn deep historical information. They seem to assume people have read up on the history and sites in guide books, etc. and just glaze over the history. However Simon seemed very knowledgable about the culture and ways of Parisiens and if asked questions on most anything he was well versed! Bikes are heavily used cruisers and work fine, but not something I would rent for a day of heavy riding even around Paris, though they probably beat the street rentals. read more

Our guide, Paul, was highly knowledgeable but also had a down to earth sense of humor that made the time we spent with him most enjoyable. We used this tour company for both the Paris tour and the day trip to Versailles and would highly recommend both. Even for someone wary of touristy activities like bike tours, the guides do an excellent job of putting a unique, local spin on things. In large part this is because the guides are so personable and blend together interesting, offbeat history with charming stories from their own lives in Paris. Our guide for the Paris tour was David and our guide for Versailles was Christian. During the Paris tour we saw sights ranging from the obvious (the pyramid outside the Louvre) to the obscure (a bishop's house with a cannonball embedded in the wall from the French revolution, an old Parisian alleyway from before the days of the big boulevards, the rat catching store featured in the film Ratatouille). Parisian drivers are aggressive, but David did a good job keeping us feeling safe. The Versailles tour focused on the gardens, and I really can't imagine a better way to do Versailles than on a bike -- the chateau is mobbed with people, and there are amazing sights in the garden. The guides are also highly knowledgeable about great non-touristy restaurants and bars, so tell them where you're staying and they'll be full of great information. If I had only a day in Paris, I think I'd spend half of it on this great overview tour. Our guide Ally was interesting and fun, and really showed us some things that were new and different. She presented the historical bits in a way that our teenage boys caught on. There were only 4 of us, but she remembered names and details we shared along the way. Our kids are great bikers - this tour is not for novices although there is not much climbing at all but a fair amount of traffic, both foot and cars. The Hubs and I had a excellent time during our Bike About Tour of Paris. Our guide Ian was great. He was knowledgeable and friendly, not to mention funny. Though it was threatening rain off and on during our adventure, everyone seemed to still have an awesome time. One month later, just wanted to add that a few days after the Paris bike tour we did the Bike About Versailles tour; looking back at our 9 days in Paris, the two bike tours definitely stand out. Stu, a French history graduate from Great Britain (living locally for several years here now) was our guide in Versailles; he also manages the local Bike About operation here. Stu told us that he hates tourists, and he did his best to help us avoid them ;-) Again, someone extremely knowledgeable about history, funny, and super competent. We had a partly sunny day, and after a quick look at the front gate of Versailles, we headed for the outdoor market, stocking up for a picnic lunch. Drove to the back of the palace, looked at some of the gardens, stopped at Marie Antoinette's little village, then headed to the canal for a wonderful lunch and short history lesson. Just finished up. This bike tour with Amber. She was great! Very knowledgable and had a great sense of humor. She took us to many places we would not have known to see as well as the usual touristy monuments. The Latin quarter where we stopped for a quick bite was a great location. I would recommend doing this tour at the beginning of your trip to Paris as it helps get your bearings on where everything is located. This is definitely a must do! ;) read more
