Enjoyed the Bungalow Heaven Home Tour a couple of times now and will definitely be back in future…read moreyears to see more beautiful historic homes from the early 1900s... 5 stars!!!!! If you live in an older home and/or you are a fan of historic homes, the Bungalow Heaven Home Tour in late April every year is an event not to be missed. Be ready to be amazed with the exterior as well as the interior of 6 to 7 featured homes in Pasadena. Most of the owners of these homes have meticulously restored their home's historic glory, and their commitment and dedication to their homes will definitely make you think twice about today's cookie cutter modern homes. Thank you so much to the Bungalow Heaven Home Tour committee for organizing such a wonderful event for the home showcase volunteers for letting strangers see their beautiful homes! Buy tickets online ahead of time to get a discount. A map of all featured homes will be given to you at Check In at MacDonald Park, and this park is the perfect check in area since it's pretty much in the middle of Bungalow Heaven. You set the pace and the route since the tour is completely self-guided. Bring a lot of water and snacks, and make sure to wear comfortable shoes. Yes, you can also drive yourself from home to home, but part of the charm is walking through the beautiful streets of Bungalow Heaven. Walk and enjoy the views of this historic neighborhood if you are able. Several food trucks are at McDonald Park for a lunch break, and there are also different opportunities to enjoy live music performances along the route. In the 2023 tour, the first one to take place after the pandemic, the tour also featured craftsmen who live in the area along the route, from quilt makers to painters to furniture makers.

Each year, the Bungalow Heaven Neighborhood Association (BHNA) hosts a self-guided walking tour featuring 8 selected homes. The event took a pause last year due to the Eaton Fire, but this year our party attended the 35th Annual Bungalow Heaven Home Tour in April 2026. [Parking]: Street parking only (free), but our party had no issue finding available street parking in Bungalow Heaven near McDonald Park. [Admission]: Advance tickets = $25 per person (plus online fees), but tickets were available on the day of the event for $30 per person. Visitors checked in at McDonald Park (1000 Mountain Avenue) and the staff handed out a guidebook and wristband. Visitors were supposed to show wristbands to enter each home, but honestly not all volunteers were actively checking them. [Check-in tent & food / drink options]: The tent offered complimentary snacks, water, and lemonade. The staff was beyond generous with the snacks and visitors were encouraged to grab as many homemade cookies (over 35 different options!!!) as they wanted. Heck volunteers were even selling baking books with recipes for the same cookies. There was no complimentary coffee, but there was a coffee truck where visitors can purchase drinks. In addition, I noticed the Kogi food truck and few other food trucks too. [Experience]: The event started at 10 AM and our party stayed from 11:45 AM to 1:45 PM (2 hours) and toured 4 homes. Most of the homes our party visited were Craftsman-style bungalows. Between homes, visitors can also stop by various sponsored pop-up tents. Unfortunately, there were not many places to sit and visitors had to stand in line while waiting to enter each home. The lines were noticeably shorter after 2 PM, but keep in mind the guided tour only lasted until 4 PM so plan accordingly. Definitely expect to stay 4+ hours if visitors want to see all 8 homes + the home with a miniature railroad in the front yard. There were few porta-potties available for anyone who needed a restroom break. Each home had volunteer tour guides explaining the history of each home and some current homeowners were present and available to answer questions in their backyards. [Rules inside of each home]: No interior photos, no food or drinks, no smoking, and no high heels. [Conclusion]: This is a solid tour for anyone who is into historic houses. Some tips include wearing sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, and breathable clothing. And yes I think those complimentary cookies were well worth at least half of the admission price alone.

There are many restaurants to eat from and many places with sweet drinks and ice cream. If you are looking to buy a car, Old Town Pasadena has dealerships like the Porsche dealership, Rolls-Royce, Lucid, and more. There is a ton of history behind Old Town Pasadena which makes it extremely special. History dates back to 1870 when it was first a thing. They used to grow oranges there and now it's a thriving tourist destination! That's just so unique. This place is very walkable for tourists with many different alleyways and streets. Green St. Right next to Pasadena is also pretty nice. It's like Old Town Pasadena but some places there are more of a hidden gem. Other than dealerships and restaurants, Old Town Pasadena has a ton of clothing stores and shops to go to. They even have museums art galleries and events. This place also has a pretty big car culture like the concorso ferrari event where they line dozens and dozens of Ferraris in Old Town Pasadena. At night, Old Town Pasadena is still very cool. There are many active bars to go to and still cars and people walking around! If you are in the area and haven't gone to Old Town Pasadena yet, you should definitely go see if you like it or not. If you like cars you might see some cool cars too! Overall there is a lot of history behind this place and I would recommend it.

Even so, there's still something for everyone regardless of age. There use to be a couple of parking structures with limited free parking, but now they're still reasonable at a few couple of dollars. Street meters are still available up and down the street. Some of my top favorites include Waunderlust Creamery and The Pie Hole. There are also mainstream popular brand stores such as JCrew, Madewell, Urban Outfitters, and a few others. A few thrift/consignment stores are also along Colorado Blvd. Traffic can get tricky around the area, please bring your patience. See you next time, Old Town Pasadena! #46/2025

The massive arches, classic design, and sweeping views make it a must-visit whether you're walking, taking photos, or just enjoying a quiet moment outdoors. Film fans will instantly recognize it as a filming location from La La Land, which adds a fun Hollywood touch to the experience. Standing beneath the bridge and looking up really highlights its scale and craftsmanship--especially with the light and shadows shifting throughout the day. The area underneath and around the bridge is peaceful and well-kept, with plenty of spots to stop and admire the architecture from different perspectives. Near the public restroom and parking lot, there's also a clear view of what used to be the historic Vista del Arroyo Hotel, now the Richard H. Chambers United States Court of Appeals, which adds another layer of history to the visit. It's a great stop whether you're a local, visiting Pasadena for the first time, or just exploring with a camera in hand. Between the scenery, history, and movie connection, this is an easy 5-star spot to recommend.

Built in 1913, this Beaux-Arts style bridge gracefully spans the Arroyo Seco and remains one of Pasadena's most beloved and photogenic landmarks. Walking across the bridge is a beautiful experience, especially around sunset when the vintage streetlamps begin to glow and the San Gabriel Mountains light up in the background. The gentle curve and soaring arches give the whole structure a romantic, almost cinematic feel. It's no wonder it's been featured in films and local lore for generations. Pro tip: Head down to Desiderio Neighborhood Park, directly below the bridge, for incredible views of the full span and those magnificent arches. It's one of the best vantage points for appreciating the bridge's scale and design--and perfect for photos. From there, you can also connect to the Arroyo Seco walking paths for even more scenic exploration. There's easy pedestrian access via Defenders Park, and parking nearby isn't too difficult. While safety fencing has been added in recent years, it doesn't take away much from the overall experience. Whether you're a local or just visiting Pasadena, the Colorado Street Bridge is a must-see--romantic, historic, and absolutely unforgettable. One of those rare spots that feels magical every time you visit.

Their pastries are legitimate Paris-level quality. The one that looks like a pain au raisin (but isn't) is incredible--those glazed, crunchy parts are what's up! I came here to get some work done on my laptop, and the vibe was perfect. People actually rotate out instead of camping at tables all day, so indoor and outdoor seating opens up organically. That is exactly my type of place.

By the time I was done ordering and had everything there was probably 20 people in line. So getting there a little early makes sense. I ordered 4 chocolate croissants, 3 Monkey Breads, 2 Kouign Amanns, and a partridge....sorry. Wrong song. 1 chocolate bar and a cappuccino. So far I've had a Kouign Amann and the cappuccino. The cappuccino may be the best I've ever had. I don't know what kind of coffee they use, but it was very smooth. That alone is worth the trip. AND, my barista did a cute milk art on top. The Kouign Amann was AMAZING. Layered and flaky I confess I ate the whole thing! I can't wait until I can try the other 2 things I've purchased. After all, the chocolate croissant was the primary reason for going. Now for the negatives: Management should figure out a way for more than one person to take orders and box them up. Even Mom & Pop donut shops often have multiple people taking orders. And Porto's has it down to a science. It would go a long way toward clearing the line faster. My second issue was the price. Quality is expensive. I get it. And I'm fortunate enough to be able to splurge for a treat like this. But with a small tip added to my total I spent just shy of $100! Not something I can do every week. But I would encourage you to save your nickels and check them out!

We sat at the bar, which provided a fantastic view of the chefs crafting fresh pasta right from the pan--it's a tight, efficient operation that I'd recommend for anyone looking to watch the craft. Note: The wait on a Thursday at 7 PM was only 5-10 minutes (we pivoted here after seeing an hour-long wait at Sugarfish next door). Food & Service The service is minimal but efficient. A service charge is automatically included, and they are transparent about it upfront. * Truffle Tagliata: Absolutely delicious. I've never been a huge fan of al dente pasta, but this dish finally made me a convert--the texture was perfection. The sauce leaned a bit salty, but it remained enjoyable. * Tiramisu: A fantastic finish to the meal. Value The tasting menu was approximately $105 after tax and fees. I felt the price was fair and the quality justified the cost. Verdict An excellent experience if you appreciate watching the kitchen in action. I'd recommend booking ahead if you have a larger group, but for a party of two, it's great!

Open kitchen, watch them make your pasta and plate it before serving it to you. We ordered two pastas - crema di parmigiano mainly because it says it contains meat. Looked like little treasure pockets swimming in a cream sauce. Was perfectly al dente but after awhile, the flavors became very heavy and not as enjoyable. Pomodorini e basílico - very simple pasta with yellow tomatoes, basil, sea salt and some oil. Yea this pasta was pretty flavorless and seemed like I was eating bland pasta. Broccolini was probably the best of the night. Pasta is made in Italy and shipped overnight. I don't know but I was really overwhelmed and still hungry after eating. Glad I got to try it but I would not come back.
