Great studio. It's clean, very hot, nice showers, and well managed. Hans paid very good attention to me throughout the class. I quickly found that Bikram style is not my thing, but was able to survive 90 minutes. I think I'll stick to vinyasa. read more

Bikram Yoga Altona in Hamburg is one of the highest caliber Yoga schools in the world, and I have been to dozens. Claudia and Hans (along with all other instuctors I had) conduct high quality classes consistently and 'by the book'. This location is where I first discovered that I could continue with Bikram Yoga in Hamburg! I completed the 30 Day Challenge in Chicago, which is going EVERY day for 30 days in a row. But get this, I not only went every day but TWICE a day. So yes, I am officially either 1.) Insane -or- 2.) Love Yoga!!! Finding this place is the worst part, as it is a bit of a walk from the train stop and being late to class is not recommended because they do not allow you to join once it begins otherwise it disturbs other yogis, so be on time and be prepared to sweat, because the insulation of this studio really brings Bikram yoga heat to a new level of HOT. I enjoyed the nice refreshments they serve after class and if it is available, I normally drink a coconut water to heal the muscles and cool down. I live in Eppendorf/Harvesthude, so this studio commute is less convenient for me, which is fabulous that their other location is on Eppendorfer Landstrasse. If you ever wanted to try Bikram, here is your chance! They usually offer a trial for new customers, in which you can try it out free for 7days. They are taught in German. read more

It´s amazing there. Not only that the tachers are great but even the ambienete. It´s everything about small things - you have free tea and fruits there, on ladies toilettes are tampoons, deodorant, body lotion etc. ... And everyone is very nice. read more

I've done Bikram in LA, DC, Boston, NYC, Melbourne and Sidney but this studio is hands down the best. it is spacious, nice parking, nice people. But the best? They know how to keep the temperature at 104 degrees. They don't feel the need to add one or 5 more degrees. I wish there was a studio like that in NYC. Great studio, but teaching style couldn't be worse. Go here if you want a brainless 1.5 hours of sweating, but not if you want to explore your body and develop a personal practice. Diverging even slightly from the class (for instance, because you know what you are doing) will have the teacher tell you off (what a minute, whose practice is this, yours or mine?). There is virtually attention given to safeguarding neck, lower back and knees. Savasana, a penultimate resting pose, is used repeatedly across the practice, which is really disruptive to the 'flow'. Virtually no corebuilding poses, always the same routine and not a very creative one at that. Above all, these teachers need an anatomy lesson, need to reduce their neverending rattle of instructions, and realize that it not their own practice, but the practice of their students that they need to be facilitating. read more
