We had the pleasure of spending several hours here after working at the Operation Christmas Child processing center. Thanks to the extended holiday hours we were able to enjoy not only a delicious meal at the dairy bar, but take the tour and see the live nativity. The food at the dairy bar was delicious and reasonably priced. It is a place I would go often if I loved closer. The tour was very well done and did a excellent job of shoWing the life of Mr Graham and his ministry. The gift shop had items for every budget, and the Christmas decor was just breathtaking. Every staff member we encountered was pleasant and helpful, without hovering. The live nativity was also beautifully done. We look forward to returning in the spring to enjoy a walk around the grounds and more of the delicious food! It was definitely time well spent. read more

We visited the Billy Graham Library on our way into Charlotte for a weekend trip. The grounds themselves are beautiful and well-maintained and the main building -- a barn-type building with a massive glass cross carved into middle -- was a lovely piece of architecture. If you are visiting the Library, chances are that you have some religious affiliation with or in common with Rev. Graham. If this is the case, you will enjoy this museum. The Bible message is presented throughout as the library expounds on Billy Graham's ministry. Even if you are not a Christian or have no religious interests, you can enjoy the library as a testament to a major historical figure. Graham was, after all, a fixture of American culture and advisor to many US presidents. The tour is bookended by video/theater presentations, which can be frustrating to those who prefer tours at their own pace. The middle of the tour is largely exhibits, allowing visitors to move about freely. The staff was kind, helpful, and obviously dedicated to advancing the same mission as Billy Graham. Overall, it was an interesting place to visit and an item checked off our bucket list -- but it isn't somewhere I would necessarily pay a repeat visit (unless it were for the holiday season or some other event). Definitely pay a visit if you are in the Charlotte area, though. After all, it is free. read more

We were in town to visit relatives, so we stopped by to check the library out. This is a great place to learn about Billy Graham's ministry and his life. We enjoyed the library very much. The 3-star rating, however, is to get your attention to read this review. As we went through the self tour, there were a few short movies. At the last movie, we tried to bypass the theater because we had to catch an Amtrak train. The lady who was stationed in the theater rudely told us not to open the exit door, and forced us to stay for the movie. As we were exiting after the movie, I reiterated to her that we had a train to catch and we were running short of time. Apparently she felt it was more important to watch the movie than catching a train. She didn't feel sympathetic at all. Instead, she said "you will be blessed". I thought that was very rude and inconsiderate of her to jeopardize our schedule. Luckily our Uber ride was quick and we made it to the train station in time. If the library management is reading this, please inform your staff members not to interfere with visitors' pace. If we choose to skip certain parts of the self tour, please let us do so. If the library insisted on forcing the visitors to participate in the entire tour, then please inform us at the beginning so we can choose not to enter the tour. This was the only unpleasant experience during our visit. Again, the library itself was a great place to learn about Billy Graham. If we visit Charlotte again, I'd love to spend more time at the library. read more

Please remove the political publications from the museums entrance/exit. The museum truly moved me....until I opened my free gift from the Billy Graham Library. I loved the museum and experiences of the impressive exhibits while learning so much more about Billy and Ruth Graham. In learning about these amazing souls and how they lived helped me appreciate how they were both gifts to the world in sharing the message of god. However I was left with a very negative feeing about the library when I departed.... In the free gift to all guests (which in itself is a generous and kind gesture) is a Billy Graham Library totebag with politically charged magazines inside. Magazine articles include statements of how to vote along with extremely biased messaging. Please note that these same magazines are also displayed at the museums exit/entrance. While I found them to be extremely inappropriate, I did not take them upon leaving however these same magazines reappeared in the free gift to guests. I was very disturbed and disappointed. I walked out the museum doors feeling inspired and truly moved only to be knocked upside the head with political propaganda left me with despair. When just moments earlier I felt solace and a message of unity, peace and humanity. I plead to the museum management to reconsider displaying and distributing this biased material. These materials demonstrate that the museum has a political agenda. I don't want this for such a sacred and inspirational place....I found the museum to be an extremely special place and a place to inspire and remind us or teach us about unity, peace, loving one another and sanctuary. The museum truly moved me....until I opened my free gift from the Billy Graham Library. read more

He was such an influential preacher, and it's amazing to see how many lives he affected, as well as how sought he was as a spiritual advisor. read more

Impressive! Plan to spend at least 1.5 hours here. Visitors are granted free admission, but you still have to check in at the front desk in the main lobby. The grounds are beautiful and you get to walk through Billy Graham's childhood house. Billy Graham is a meaningful figure in my household. I grew up watching the crusades. It was fulfilling to me to walk through the Library and learn about the history of Billy Graham's work and life. It's a museum with a lot of video footage to keep the story going. Plan to eat lunch here, although if you are on a veggie-only diet, they only offer salads. The main menu is chicken salad or BBQ with sides like potato salad. There is also a well-stocked gift shop. Around the holidays, the Library is decorated nicely. There is a huge Christmas tree, a live nativity scene with real animals (e.g., camel), performers, and carriage rides ($7 for adults). If you do plan a visit during the holidays, come early (before 5pm) or plan to wait in a line off of Billy Graham Parkway to get in (they stay open until 10pm during the holidays). This place will definitely win points with family members or visitors who have any affinity to Billy Graham...and one that you could visit multiple times. read more

Don't get it twisted, this is not a library. Billy Graham Library is a sanctuary and museum dedicated to the life of Billy Graham. I went to the 'library' with a laptop in my backpack ready to write. I was greeted by a young man at the gated entrance at about 9:20. "The library will be open in about ten minutes sir," he said. After parking I chatted with the security guard outside of a botanical garden and pathway to the entrance of the huge barn-like building decorated with a fifty foot crucifix. This place was beautiful. Down the pathway speakers set the atmosphere with church choir music. I walked into the immaculate building. "I believe I have the wrong idea, I thought this was a public library," I told the door-woman. No worries a few joyful women at the Information Center directed me to the nearest location. I didn't stay for the Billy Graham presentation, but the building had gifts and large pictures of Billy. If you are a Christian enthusiast, you would love it here. read more

This is the most amazing library that I have ever been to! I've been around the world and seen many monuments! But this Billy Graham Library is a must see place while in Charlotte, North Carolina or passing through! I am so filled inside with the love of The Lord after visiting this Historical library! The Billy Graham Home is beautiful and so are the surrounding gardens! There is a sense of peace and something for the entire family of all ages! I just love when we entered and we were greeted by Bessie the talking cow! There was a row of lighted plexy glass crosses, upon seeing them they took my breathe away, which lead to one of the largest canvased murals I have ever seen! Something that stood out to me was the Actual library of Pastor Graham that housed 3,792 books! I love books! I love all of the family history and how the family tried to restore everything in the home! You have to see this Library! You won't be disappointed! I left refreshed and as I was leaving I didn't want to leave! I filled out a survey and received a free bag with memorabilia inside of it! The staff is well informed! I thought I was venturing to a little bookstore & to my surprise found an amazing museum filled with state of the art animated animals & visual displays, to inspiring memorabilia. There was just enough focus on Billy Graham and yet still focus on God. The "journey of faith" was enough to make a grown man cry. My favorite part was when they recreated the Berlin wall. I really could feel myself there 30 years or so ago & as the spot light from the guard tower shined on me it brought chills to my spine. I can't believe people lived like that. I especially like the interview with Billy at the end when he said if he had to change anything it would be study, pray, and fellowship with God more- work less. I will never forget that. I would highly recommend this even for non-Christians! read more

This is a nice place for contemplation, or to learn about Billy Graham. We came here because we needed to find something to do that was open on a Monday afternoon, and was free. We found it! They don't charge for parking, or admission! The staff was incredibly pleasant. They all were quite interested in making sure you find the tour, find the exits, and find Jesus. The exhibits were rather well done, taking you through Billy Graham's early preaching life, his meeting with rich and powerful people, and writing his weekly newspaper column. I was taken aback a little bit by how extravagant this place seems. It seems a bit prideful to build a museum about yourself, especially when the subject is still alive. I kept asking myself how many hungry mouths could've been fed instead of building this place. But the grounds were really nicely kept, and the whole place seemed to be like hanging out at Ned Flanders' house. The tour takes about an hour or so, with movies every several minutes that you're forced to sit through. They close the doors up, so you don't really have the option to be bored and race through the museum. They do have a book store at the end of the tour, filled with religious books. Went there last week and it was amazing. Everyone was very nice and the history of the place is unbelievable. If in Charlotte you must visit. Takes a few hours to walk through everything. There is so much to see. Also don't forget the Billy graham cove in Asheville. That was just as amazing but not as big. Still took a couple hours to see. A lasting tribute to a man termed "America's Pastor" and a place that will forever carry on his lifelong evangelical mission. Unlike a Presidential Library, this is not simply a collection of artifacts and photos that comprise the life of one of America's leading Christian ministers; rather, it is a progressive presentation on the life and mission of Billy Graham focused on his continuing efforts to spread Christianity all over the globe. You enter the gates just off Billy Graham Parkway and are given a welcome packet / parking pass. Admission and parking are free. After parking, you head to the complex past the restored Graham family home down to the barn with the giant cross. In keeping with the theme, you enter the building at the foot of the cross, greeted by door holders, who refer you to the central counter for ticketing (free). Reservations are recommended, but not required. From there, you are sent to the front right corner of the building to listen to a talking milk cow describe Billy's early days and then ushered through a series of video and memorabilia rooms where the story of Billy Graham and his mission are told from youth to modern times. After a series of presentations, you are then guided through several self-paced exhibits culminating in a trademark of the evangelical crusade: a call to salvation. After this final presentation, you are walked out to an area where they make counselors and prayer rooms available. There is a final bookstore / gift shop at the end of the tour. Inside the main barn are several counseling stations with representatives and staff willing to help with both your visit or spiritual needs. There is a large cafe available as well. Returning outside, you are encouraged to tour through the restored Graham family home as well as the gravesites of Billy's wife Ruth and several leading members of the Billy Graham Evangelical Association. Takes about 60-90 minutes to go through and the landscaping is absolutely gorgeous. Soft music is piped through the outdoor gardens and is a very respectful place to meditate or spiritually reflect. My wonderful wife and I thought we would only be here for one hour but was so fascinated and in awe of the life history of this Anointed man of God we were there for over four hours and didn't want to leave. This is not a library. I just moved here, so I didn't know. This is a museum/shrine to Billy Graham and his wife. It's free, and it was kind of cool to see the story of his life, but the staff wouldn't let us leave the tour until after the final video. The final video is an alter call. Each person is given a "decision card" to indicate if they were saved as a result of the tour. I'm a Christian, but this was too much. Just know this is NOT a public library, but there is a gift shop with Christian books and Bibles for purchase. read more

Wow. What an amazing history journey and overall awesome visit. Don't miss this. We regretted going at 3:30 as we were rushed a little and would like to have had more time. It is a partially guided indoor video type museum type tour. There were some small children but it was not truly kid friendly. Pretty boring for them I suspect. We were completely comfortable with this, but it is a Jesus Saves experience I can't imagine someone wouldn't know that coming in, but I guess the tour could catch some off guard. Awesome experience. We love the library and visit there often. There is a wonderful cafe and bookstore as well as beautiful gardens and grounds to walk around. The tour about Billy Graham's life and ministry is incredible and takes about an hour. You can also visit his childhood home which is located on property. All of this is free and definitely a must see in Charlotte. You will be blessed! Billy's gravesite will be there next to his wife Ruth and you can visit this area in the garden. read more

The Billy Graham Library is an interesting place to visit, dedicated to the most famous evangelist of our time. I wasn't expecting much at first, but this place is actually larger than it looks on the front. I ended up spending about two hours here; then later learned that it's about 40K sq ft. They were very thorough in presenting the life of "America's Pastor" and the international impact of his ministry. You can also step inside his childhood home. And don't miss out on the garden area where you can take a quiet stroll and visit the grave sites. Rev. Graham was a man who befriended people from all walks of life including past and present US presidents. People of faith would find this place most meaningful, but the Library does welcomes all visitors regardless of political or religious affiliation. read more

Let me start off by telling you my personal lifetime experience with Dr.Graham and why he holds a special place in my heart . I am 62 years old and the first time I saw him was at Yankee Stadium in 1958, I was 8 years old and over the years it seems that this man has always had the answers to the questions in my heart, it seems that when he speaks he is talking to me alone. Having said this I just want to say that the library is what I expected it to be a piece of heavenly peace in a hectic world. This is also a food review the restaurant in the library is something different to see. It is a dairy motif and really must be seen they serve Bridges Bar.B. Que and it is really good pulled pork, the ice cream is also very good. read more

The first part of the tour is slow because it is guided by videos that you sit and watch. Then there is a portion you do on your own and end with more videos. Outstanding. One of the most organized, well staged, and presented tributes to a person and his family that I've ever seen. The library contains a gift shop and cafeteria that offer books and souvenirs, and the food in the cafeteria is on par with most upscale restaurants. It's nothing short of excellent. The museum starts out with "Bessie the Cow" (a symbol of Graham's humble beginnings on a dairy farm) and lead you through a series of rooms that chronicle his life. There are guides throughout the complex and on the grounds to assist you and answer questions. They are very polite and professional. Access to Graham's childhood home is included and there is a memorial garden on the grounds as well. Regardless of your faith, the complex is well worth setting the time aside to visit and learn about this American Icon and his family. read more

What an amazing place. Even if you do not know much about Billy Graham, this is a wonderful stop to make in Charlotte. Beautiful scenery, amazingly well done exhibits, and even a scavenger hunt for the kids while on the tour. This library/museum chronicles the life of an amazing man of God, and the lives that he has touched over the past 60 years. Young or old, you will find something that interests you. I especially loved the room that held a replica of a section of the Berlin wall, as well as the guard shack, etc. Best of all, it is completely FREE!!! read more

My wife and I spent around three hours walking through this spiritually uplifting experience. There were so many things to see in this journey and life of a true man of God. The videos were well designed and the volunteers were so helpful and knowledgeable about all aspects of the library, the childhood home of Billy Graham and the memorial gardens. If you get hungry during this day of wonderment, you can grab some great food in the cafe. I recommend this to everyone. read more

What I saw, I enjoyed. They really need to inform customers that this is a SEMI-GUIDED tour!!! I thought I could come in at anytime during operating hours and enjoy the facility in any order and still get the full experience. However, that's not the case. The tour is about 1.5 hours and they like to begin at specific hours on the hour because they want everyone to start at the beginning. Since I thought this was an all self-guided tour, I ended up missing the beginning and much of the middle of parts. I did see some of the the displays and the gardens. I rushed through the home and cafe. Not the most favored for someone traveling from out of state. read more

Whatever your religion or lack thereof, this is a beautiful place to visit. The staff is very kind. We pulled into the library entrance by accident looking for our Charlotte hotel from the airport (much construction by the airport, road closures, etc.). The woman guard at the gate looked off into the distance (must be a souther thing) for a moment then said "Yes, this is how you go from here"-her directions were perfect. Even as much as I travel, I was mistakenly thinking she didn't know where or what I was asking for-a new lesson in patience for me!!! read more

The Christmas light display was recommended. Lights were extremely disappointing, but the live nativity scene should appeal to the Christian visitors. Very large gift shop. Did not visit the museum so I can not comment on that part of the site. read more

An inspirational place to visit and soak in Billy Graham's life and ministry. We took a little over two hours to enjoy. We also had a nice lunch there after the structured tour. Strongly recommend a couple hours minimum. read more
