Went here before and after the stadium tour. The food was very nice and a fair price, the bar was clean and had a good atmosphere.

"Let me show you." I've always been a fan of Leeds Brewery pubs, so to discover they have a new one, tucked away just off The Calls, was a happy time. I love the fact they've refurbished another of Leeds' old buildings and breathed new life into an unused space. It's a classic LB fit out -- the character of the building is in tact, yet it's clean and simply anew, and retains the quirky personality of the original space. Firstly, they've some coveted outdoor space: a small patio out back and cute little balcony that overlooks said patio. It's really private, being ensconced between the church and another building, so it feels like a secret haven. The inside has plenty of little nooks and larger tables, so small or large, your party's going to be happy. There's a menu, including some classic British bites, and a fairly interesting bar. Besides your ales and a few craft beers, they also offer up some interesting ports and such. Very cosy, very classy. The gin selection is fine, but don't expect Monkey 47. Since my visit was literally a nightcap, lasting 30 minutes before close, I can't comment much on the atmosphere but I can say that the chap running the bar couldn't do enough to help us. Despite teething problems with glassware, limited booze from what will be their standard selection, and lack of fruit, he made us feel so welcome. Props to him -- he's be a fabulous manager/landlord. I'm a fan, and I hope to spend many more evenings in the Lamb & Flag!

I was stunned when i walked into the restaurant. The decor is minimal, keeping the place clean and fresh. Looking at the menu i was so excited to try every single dish! Every course we ate was amazing. All of them cooked to perfection and served with the most exceptional precision - i just cannot fault anything about it. The chef, Michael O'Hare, is experimental with his dishes, but they work, so so well!!! You can read Neil C.'s review for the full detail on the dishes we ate, as i wouldn't like to repeat it, but you must must go!! If this place doesn't get a Michelin Star in September, then there is something very very wrong with their inspectors!!!

Curiosity is the cure for boredom, and there is no cure for curiosity. This feels like Wonderland…read moreterritory, and not least because my meal here last night ended to the ethereal, dreamlike trip hop track Sugar Water, by Cibo Matto. It couldn't have been more daydream, if I'm honest -- we pattered along Vicar lane, skipping in the rain, to the entrance of... Flannels, a popular menswear shop. A single bouncer guards the door, checks your name is on the list, who then guides you past the shirts and borderline-erotic imagery above the till to get to the lift. Floor number three: The Man Behind The Curtain. Disappointing lift light -- terrible for selfies. It moves slowly, like an ancient relic with cogs from, at least, the sixties. The art and ambiance is, as you might expect by now, perfectly odd and mostly minimal. We sat next to a slightly disturbing, slightly bondage painting of a woman whose eyes are blotted out by blue and lips, permanently smudged. (You are free to judge me by my descriptions of said art -- perhaps you won't see the vibe at all.) One lamp hangs so low it's merely feet from the floor. There are question marks everywhere and sculpted hands emerge from the entrance wall, all rocking out, "devil horns" style. I won't dwell long on the staff, because although each person we encountered is a whole individual with their own thoughts, dreams, and desires, every of them was equally and unfalteringly lovely, informative, and genteel -- to the point of being replicants, and I don't mean that to sound rude. Now, the food. CARTE BLANCHE 1. To allow full creative freedom 2. To showcase what we feel is right for now What they felt was right for last night, I don't think can ever be wrong. We went with the wine pairings, and I honestly don't know why you wouldn't just spend the extra £30 or so. Each drink --of course-- beautifully complemented the food. The octopus "snack" with capers, and a whole host of other umami flavours I'm not sophisticated enough to call out, was simply ridiculous. We licked the spoons. We cared not. I shan't call out every item, since brevity is already an issue, but the absolute winners of the evening had to be the practically obsidian dish of cod in squid ink --we had the brief appearance of black-toothed witches, which I assume matched well with our lady painting-- and the pork two ways, complete with edible egg shell and "charcoal". Bonus points for this: "We know that some people think you should have a red with pork and some people think you should have a white, so we give you one of each." Hooooooo, lady -- that's my jam. Yes. Everything, from the cutlery to the plates to the food itself: art. Oh, and cupcake in a single mouthful? We decided that's definitely the maximum amount of cupcake anyone ever needs -- it was perfect. No more, no less: I just want the mouthful. Warning: the feeling of loss and desolation, now, is pretty real. I'm sure I'll get back into "normal" life again, but... lunch is really going to blow. And so will dinner. And so will alcohol, even. How quickly one becomes accustomed to the finer things! *She says, staring at her sub-par, poorly made filter coffee and packet of mass produced bagels.* Worth it.

YELP supper club! I like it here…read more I didn't get to see the upstairs as there was a function on. We had initially opted to go to Reds for our supper but we couldn't get a table until 9:45. James and myself would have been perfectly willing to wait as we really wanted to dine at Reds, but Roweena was making hungry, growling noises and sprinkling passing children with seasoning and mumbling "that one would taste lovely with some bar-b-q relish on it!". So before there was an "incident" we decided to head down to Brooklyn Bar so Row could get her freak-on and tear into some red meat. The bar staff couldn't have been more pleasant, attentive and helpful. I opted for the rum burger and a pint of Blue Moon beer. I have never had Blue Moon before and it is a spot-on refreshing drink. When my burger came it was stacked with fresh salad and perfectly cooked onion rings. The meat was lovely and juicy and deceptively big. The fries where cooked just right. James had a rack of ribs and they looked spectacular. Definitely trying them next time. I will be checking in here again.

However, there are some things you can't fault, and that would be the service and the food. I'll, of course, go into some detail. The bad news: The bar really isn't to my tastes. Not in terms of décor, but in terms of style. The music is (and I can already hear what you're going to say) too loud and too pop for my tastes. (Whatever, I'm old.) When it's a Wednesday night and no one is in your bar, why must you ear bleed me with Rhianna and that awful awful Blurred Lines song? No one wants it. Or, at least, no one I know. I am also not a fan of TV screens, but I realise some folks do like to watch a bit of footie. People often enjoy it when a leggy man does a goal, I understand that. It's rustic looking and attractive, and has a gorgeously decked out little beer garden (big umbrellas please, for when it rains) so it could be much more - but alas, it's a little like a replica of vodka rev or brb in terms of personality. It needn't be - everyone else was in the aforementioned bars for their Wednesday shooter and R'n'B. My wish would be that it lives up to the NY name more, and actually takes that vibe on a little more. Underground and interesting music on the Spotify, to link into their (I'm assuming, haven't tried) NY cocktail menus and food. Just my opinion, like. ANYWAY! The food. My word, the food. If you come here for just one thing, let it be the burgers. Let it be the California burger, with skin on fries, and delicious crispy SFC strips. It does the same as most, and bungs them in a placcy basket to look all authentic, but when you bite down on that mother of a beef patty, and let the guac, onion rings, melty beef, jack cheese, and the rest assemble in your gob, you know you've made it. You've made it. Welcome to flavour country. I am a fan. As ever, and as will almost always be in Leeds, I wished the burger had been a touch more pink. But - my folly - I didn't ask it to be so. And those SFC strips - yes. Yes yes yes. I liked them immensely. As for the service, not a single encounter was unpleasant, and everyone who interacted with us was fantastic. Top notch service, banter, the extra mile, and all that jazz. Props to the two girls and chap who made the night more of a four star experience than a three star one. So, I shan't ramble on for much longer. The place has potential. I like the subway train by the loos. The actual building is lovely, and the garden is grand. The NY menu is fabulous, and the staff are brill. I just wish they'd ditch the crap music and punk it up a bit. I would definitely then be a regular.

I been here before when this used to be Aglasso and were devastated when it closed as with the mix…read moreof bars in this area that don't suit my taste Aglasso hit the nail on the head. Welcome oh Welcome Dish!!! Having nearly an hour to kill prior to needing to be in the Carriageworks we dropped into dish. The interior reminds me more of a dining room than a formal bar or restaurant. Quirky padded window seats, feature fireplace, small or large tables to accommodate all party sizes and a piano which I'm reliably informed does actually feature in the life of the place. We sat in a raised table adjacent to the food prep area and the snug bar so we had a great watching place. My friend had arrived slightly before me and ordered so as I sat I was presented with a lovely chilled Prosecco and him a very deep and fruity red wine. The atmosphere was very laid back and a party of diners (8) seemed to be having a lovely time. We browsed the very attractive food and drinks menu which offer something tasty and suitable for all types. The food highlights good local ingredients with a tasty flair and is presented with love (believe me- I saw the effort the chef and sous put in). The kitchen is tiny yet well organised so its a miracle these dishes get so well put out. As well as the fab food and drink menu (with special 'set menu' offers) there is also a 'nibbles' menu which I absolutely LOVE the idea of. Some days you don't want to just eat dinner- some days i like to pick! I chose 'pickled chillies', 2 oysters and a pork pie with chutney. Wow, all hit the spot and well accompanied our 2nd lot of drinks wonderfully. (they also do pork scratching's which I will definitely be back to test!) The food which was presented out to the diners looked soooooo nice I kept loosing thread of the conversation we were having!!! if you join their mailing list you get 10% voucher off food and as we'd done that there and then when we got our bill they'd given us the 10% off which was nice. This is the kind of place you could have a nice girly dinner, take the in-laws or have an intimate dinner for 2. i'd also be tempted to check out there fab cocktail menu. So sad to see Aglasso go but so glad to see Dish in its place!

It was gone 9.30pm, so we rushed here and fortunately managed to catch the last service - as luck would have it there was a table for two right there waiting for us. Having been here previously, when it was still Aglassto, I was hoping that the cool ambience still remained. And sure enough, it has. The space itself is gorgeous. It feels like a Victorian living room, with a quaint fireplace, piano at the entrance, a snug bar area around the back and limited dining tables within the main space. The service, throughout, was excellent. We were seen to swiftly and in a very friendly manner, and managed to order really quickly and grab a drink. The chap was great when we asked to nip out for a cig before eating, and came and found us when our food arrived, which was really lovely of him! Whilst the menu is small, it all reads really well, so I'm keen to return to try some of the other dishes. The wines, dessert wines, puddings and other bits all sound excellent too, but on this occasion we were defeated by one main course. I had the slow cooked lamb and polenta, which was really very good. We had a side of greens to accompany, which were perfectly cooked, and the whole experience was a treat. I can't quite put my finger on what was missing, perhaps that I've realised I'm not so much of a polenta fan, but I'm sure it was more a taste thing than a quality thing. As I've said, I certainly want to come back to try more of their menu items! Another bonus is that it was really reasonable for what I'd consider edging into the fine dining arena. Basically, go and try it for yourself - it's a fantastic little spot, with truly lovely staff. (And let me know what you think!)
