I came here originally because I was drawn to the fact that this was an all female practice. While some of the treatment i received was decent, I had an IUD placed here that has had my head spinning for months. I have had 2 IUDs placed before, both which were definitely not comfortable but bearable at least. However, not only was the Paragard IUD that I had placed at biltmore so painful I almost tapped out, but so shocking that i almost passed out on my way out of the building. The doctor who placed my device did so alone, and took around 5 minutes to successfully place the IUD, all of which I was telling her that it hurt much more than my last placements, and that I didn't know if i could continue. My doctor completely brushed off my pain and had me sitting in the chair idle and in immense pain with a cervical clamp in place for at least 60 seconds or more at one point as she fumbled with the equipment on the counter. As I said before, I have had these devices placed before, and the whole procedure must have taken under 90 seconds and was simply a few gnarly cramps. Nothing like this. On top of that, I was rushed out of the room shortly after the placement, and I was about a hair away from hitting the deck on my way out of the office. Shortly after leaving, I recieved a passive aggressive phone call from one of the office staff, who almost seemed to be insinuating a drug problem as the reason for my stumble. Yuck! Not only was the application of my IUD absolutely horrible, but the aftermath was as well. Almost immediately after placement, I began suffering with the worst case of BV i have ever had in my life. For months i tried just about everything I could to get rid of this infection to no avail. Finally, I made an appointment with a different Gyno in the area of my college who removed the device effortlessly, and informed me that because the BV was so treatment resistant, it's possible that my IUD was placed in such an unsanitary manner that I had bacteria trapped inside of my cervix. wow! Granted, the Paragard IUD also has an increased risk of BV, but this is something I had to find out on my own regardless. I cannot speak for the OB side of things at this establishment, but what I can tell you is if you want an IUD placed GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! read more

I saw Dr. Courtney Cohen for a checkup. She was absolutely fabulous! She talked to me for a little bit to see how I was doing mentally and emotionally and listen as I rattled on. Then she begun the exam, and was quick about it. She is a caring, good physician and a fantastic doctor. Even the whole staff was pretty darn nice. I found a doctor I intend to stay with. That is so hard to do in this day and age. read more

Transferred in the middle of my pregnancy due to moving states and they made the transition so easy. Everyone is nice and caring, the place is super clean and you always feel welcome. Never felt like I was rushed or my concerns were pushed aside. Always super respectful. Would recommend this practice, especially Dr. Nathan to anyone. read more

Beware! They are insensitive and deceitful!! This place is great unless you advocate for yourself or speak out in any way. They will smile to your face and then stab you in the back and "dismiss" you from the practice months later. I absolutely loved Dr. Carlton and Dr. Nathan, but someone spread lies that I didn't want to work with Dr. Carlton. Add that to an issue I had with Dr. Cohen when she insensitively stated "oh sure, babies die in the womb all the time, I deliver 2-3 still births every year". I was 9 months pregnant asking why they were pushing inducement. That's not an appropriate way to deliver that bit of information, and it freaked me out and I was trying to keep my stress levels down. All my other medical professionals agreed that that was not something that should be said to a pregnant woman. Dr. Carlton- I enjoyed/appreciated your bedside manner and would have been happy for you to deliver my bundle of joy but the timing didn't work out. Dr. Nathan- I have said over and over thank you for taking such good care of me through the difficult and scary decision to have a c-section. You made it easy and your entire team was reassuring and caring. This is why it hurts my feelings so deeply that you would want to kick me out. I guess I was deluded every time I saw you for a follow up and we had, what I thought, was a great interaction. So, bottom line, I reacted (pregnant and emotional) to some inappropriate/bad situations and the practice decided to go ahead and keep me on to get all our money and then cut me loose. Dirty and hurtful business. Just go in, keep a smile plastered on your face, pay your fees, don't ask questions, don't disagree, don't advocate for yourself, and you'll be just fine. read more

I have been going to Biltmore OB-GYN about six years now and this place delivered two of my babies. I love all the doctors and that they are all females. My doctor was Lisa cottor, she always listened to what I had to say and overall was a great doctor. After I got pregnant they switched me to doctor Lisa Chitour who has delivered my babies and she too always listens well to what I'm saying and is an amazing doctor. I would never change to another provider. I love this place and feel comfortable while I'm there. read more

After talking with Stephanie and others at the office for weeks, I received a phone call on Monday saying that they suddenly aren't going to take me as a transfer. They could have told me this weeks ago if it was truly going to be an issue based upon my case (which it wasn't). Their excuse was a cop-out, and I was truly disappointed by the way they treated my situation. I understand Covid-19 has changed the way a lot of businesses are operating, but pregnant women seeking help should receive the highest level of care, and that is not how Biltmore OB treated me. Arrived 12 minutes late due to storm and traffic. Was treated with complete disrespect and told my appt was cancelled since I was "so late". Took me months to even get this appointment. No one else was in the waiting room. Asked to have the spot of the person after me since they obviously took her. Nope. Unacceptable and unconscionable. Be aware! read more

I have used this practice for the pregnancies and births of all 3 of my boys. I have always had a great experience with them. The doctor I used for my first two pregnancies is no longer at this practice but Dr. Travis was great with my most recent one, and she has been with the practice a long time. I have always had calls returned promptly and everyone was always very nice. Another review mentioned appointments being rescheduled and yes this does happen (because the Dr. on call has to go deliver babies at the hospital when necessary) BUT they always tell you what day is an on- call day for your Dr. and have you call before you come in to make sure you don't drive in for nothing. Also, they get you rescheduled as quick as possible but you may have to see another Dr. This is no big deal because they rotate you through to meet all the Dr.s anyway. Unless you have a scheduled delivery you are not necessarily going to get your Dr. delivering the baby, so they want you to meet all of them at least once. My first son was born almost 10 years ago, so the on-call policy is not something new and they work really hard to keep your appointments on schedule. read more

I have been going to this practice since I was 21. Firstly, i love that all the providers are females. This was very important to me. I have used them for GYN care as well as OB care (first child born December 2018.) During the course of my pregnancy, which was determined to be high risk after 20 weeks when i developed gestational hypertension, i saw all 6 of the OB providers. Lauren and Michelle (the midwives) are dreams, and Dr. Cohen has some of the softest hands of any physician I've ever seen. Drs Travis, Chitour, and Olney were great as well. Throughout the course of my 37 hour labor, i saw all the providers as well. Michelle even stayed after her shift was over to see my little one finally born. I could not recommend these skilled providers highly enough. read more

I went here recently as a new patient for my annual exam. A little nervous as I was new and previously had a terrible experience at another gyn office in Asheville. However, I was blown away with the remarkable servic and treatment that I received here. From the warm welcome of the front desk, to the cozy environment of the office, to the gentle understanding nature of the clinical staff, I'm sold. This is hands down the office I want to come to for my OB and GYN care. I saw Lisa Cotter for my first visit. Let me tell you, she is incredibly thorough, caring, compassionate, funny and truly down to earth. She actually listened to my concerns and put me at ease. She expressed understanding of what I was telling her also. I left feeling happy and confident in the staff at Biltmore Ob-gyn. Never have I left after having a pap done with a smile. I whole heartedly and highly recommend coming here. They are truly all about patient care and putting patients first rather than money and flashing their degrees in your face read more

Dr. Morel had helped me with a ton of issues over the course of about four years. She is the best gynecologist I've ever had and even though I now live in San Francisco, I am tempted to fly back to Asheville just to visit with her for my regular check ups. Beware of this practice! They are not concerned about your health! You need to have a medical degree to be a patient here because they want you to direct you own health care without consult. Had I continued on their plan I would have lost my chance to have a family. I wasted so much time and money because they were too arrogant to refer me to a specialist. I wish someone would have warned me. After firing them, I met three other woman that had horrible experiences with this practice and fired them. read more

This has to be the worst practice in Asheville, NC. Dr. Saltzman is a great doctor, but she needs to fire the entire staff and start from scratch. The personnel are rude, ignorant and ineffective at managing patient records and care. They never return calls, you are put on hold for long waits, repeated calls for appointments are never answered, they are mainly concerned with billing services not patient care- absolutely no follow ups. When attempting to get a copy of records, the office kept asking me why I wanted my records and when I stated to move to another practice, they refused release of my information against regulations. Is this standard for patient service, I think not. If you want professional progressive care which is patient centered, go elsewhere! read more

I have been going to this practice for about three years now and I've never had anything short of an amazing experience. Typically I see Nan who is my nurse practitioner. She is a lovely woman who listens to all my concerns and complaints empathetically and kindly. I have been trying to get sterilized for about five years now and Nan suggested that I keep waiting. After seeing me for three years and me continuing to ask for this procedure, Nan referred me to another fabulous doctor at her practice name Dr. Travis. I was very nervous for my first appointment with Dr. Travis as she has never met me before and while waiting in her room, it was full of baby photos so I was afraid she would be very against performing the procedure on me like most other OB/GYN doctors are. I came very prepared with all of the research I've done on the procedure as well as references indicating that I've wanted this procedure for many years now. Dr. Travis listened very intently and agreed to perform the procedure based on how well educated I was on it and how long I have wished for this to happen. Dr. Travis was extremely kind and reassuring to me she did not express any judgment for wanting this procedure and I very much look forward to seeing her for my preop appointment next week. I would definitely recommend this OB/GYN practice to any women in Asheville as it is an exclusively female staff who are all very kind and understanding. read more

I have been going to Biltmore OBGYN for 10 years now & cannot say enough good things about them. I see Dr. Nan Nussman for my GYN needs and she is phenomenal. She makes you feel so comfortable as soon as you walk in the door. I have a great relationship with her and always have since day one. She treats you as if you are a friend of hers and really makes the whole process as fun as it can be. I love them so much that I still go there, even though I now live in Richmond, VA. This is only a start to a formal complaint being filled with the Better Business Bureau. First, don't be fooled with any kidness that they give you at first. I can promise you, THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR WELL BEING OR YOUR BABIES. Anyone that is logical can understand a reschedule of an appointment, and i am more than understanding. But when you are 8 weeks pregnant with your first child, the LAST thing you want is to have your appointment scheduled almost 2 WEEKS OUT when they have to reschedule. And don't you dare express your concerns to them, i forewarn you, because that will ONLY result in them CANCELLING ALL OF YOUR appointments, and better yet?! TELLING YOU, YOU CANNOT EVER COME BACK. This is beyond against the law of a business, especially whenever i have proof that i have done nothing wrong. I have all the information i need to show how badly they treat people. Good luck if you want to try this OBGYN, you are better off giving birth at home and getting regular check ups from your neighbor. read more

I went to Biltmore OBGYN a few months ago when I found out that I was pregnant. I was very disappointed with the level of competence as well as their lack of patient care. I have finally switched over to another practice after several disappointments. When a patient is pregnant, there is a standard protocol of certain blood tests and ultrasounds that are performed during the course of nine months for women in advanced maternal age. There were several times that I had to call to remind them to schedule testing procedures. Furthermore, there were mistakes on blood work prescriptions as well as unnecessary blood work performed, which costs me extra money. When asked to have their office call the lab to write-off the expense of unnecessary blood work performed, I was told to call the lab myself. I would show up for my monthly appointment, only to be told that my appointment was cancelled, and that no one could see me. I don't think that the doctors ever read my chart or knew anything about me. There also was never any accountability for mistakes made by their nurses and doctors. Although there was a nurse practitioner in the practice who was great, I was not impressed by anyone else there. I suggest that if you do not want to be treated like a number, go somewhere else. read more
