Absolutely beautiful restaurant and fantastic large outdoor dining area which is great on a nice sunny day dining by the canal. The food is always at a high standards and having eaten there several times now I can say I've eaten a lot from the main menu and have never had any problems whatsoever. The staff are attentive, polite and even spark into some friendly conversation which is nice. They have a reasonable lunch time offer for 2 course or three course meals. They also offer pre-theatre menus too. Can't fault the place.

You will find greenery running all upside the walls as well as a fantastic view of the canal. In the evening the ambience inside is also great. Reservations are available but you can usually get in without too much of a wait time. On this occasion I ordered a spinach and mushroom crepe which was fantastic! It's probably my favourite vegetarian dish that they do. It's a sensible portion that leaves you satisfied. For dessert I ordered the praline crepe which was again fantastic. You generally find with dessert crepes that they can do no bad no matter where your buying it from. Cotes crepes are above standard in terms of quality with a light pancake and not overly sweet praline feeling. For me in particular this restaurant shines in the summer. The cocktails are great and the dining experience is unique.

Blue lights lend a hazy ambience and the way the tables are organised ( in long lines two abreast but well spaced) makes intimate dining possible without losing the buzz of the place. The food is good Bistro fare; vegetables are always beautifully and often unusually cooked and there's a great cocktail bar for a ore-dinner glass of bubbly. We always eat here rather than at the adjacent Queens Hotel restaurant, when staying overnight.

Today I had their Farm Chicken that came stuffed with creamed leeks, a top creamed potatoes and with sides of wild mushrooms. It was quite tasty overall. The jus that came with it could have been a bit more flavorful and I wish the chicken had not been cooked with the skin on it. Overall it was a great meal and their wine list was not bad either. PROS: Music, great staff, wonderful atmostphere, good food. CONS: Music was too loud for the small place and was hard to hear others.

Although I think it is trying to be a bit of both. On both nights, the ambiance was different... one night the music was quite loud and there was a large crowd of young guys that were a bit rowdy, putting Mr. Snarky off of the place, and on the other night it was quiet and intimate. The menu actually seems like a combination of two menus, the first is a more upmarket menu that you would find in a gastro pub while the other menu include pub classics and the presentation between the dishes on each section of the menu further confirms that they are almost two different menus. On the first visit, I had the steak and Mr. Snarky had the Lamb Shank. The steak was a bit fatty, but the triple cooked chips... mmmm although watch out, they retain a lot of heat. Mr. Snarky must have enjoyed his Lamb Shank a lot as I didn't even get a bite! It was gone in the blink of an eye. On the second visit, I had the Pie of the Day with veg and Mr. Snarky had the Chicken and Chorizo Pasta with a Cajun Tomato Sauce. The Pie of the Day was Chicken and Leek and it actually comes with Dauphinoise Potatoes, but when I think of Pie, I think of Mash. So I asked to substitute the Dauphinoise Potatoes with Mashed Potatoes. And actually the menu doesn't specify if it comes with any potatoes, just seasonal veg. The pie was delicious, although there isn't much sauce, so if you decide to go for the mash with your pie, you may want to see about some gravy. The veg was nice, but perhaps someone got a bit carried away with the spices as I couldn't really taste much of the veg. Mr. Snarky's pasta was nice, but I didn't taste any Cajun spices in the sauce. We suspect that the Chorizo may have overpowered any attempt at seasoning. However, the star of the night (well, my night) was the Bread and Butter Pudding made with croissants and white chocolate. It was lovely! The top was a bit crunchy and buttery while the rest of the pudding was gooey and custardy. It really is a very good dessert. Don't ask me what Mr. Snarky had because after the first bite of my dessert, the rest of the night was a bit of a blur ;). Anyway, they do have some really good food, but sometimes the ambiance is a bit off.

When I told everyone I was going to Worcester for the weekend from Edinburgh, I got a whole lot of…read more"WHY?"s. Well, here's one reason. Jerk. The outdoor seating at The Firefly... on an evening in England where the day had been 26 degrees (got Celsius!) made me think that maybe, just maybe, if all of England was perfect like this everyday they would still rule the world. The colonies would want to be owned again (sans slavery and oppression etc.). But I digress, that shit will never happen... so we need to ignore this ideal of a perfect England, and just take the pub as a perfect pub. Reasons for perfection: (see photos) The front room: fireplace, antique chandelier, old tyme-y lampshades, big red velvet couches, a moose head over the fireplace and ARE YOU F**KING SERIOUS - Brooklyn Lager. My favorite beer in the world. And I know I am an exaggerator, and I know I say "my favorite (insert something here) ever" all the time. But for real, this is the greatest tasting lager of the entirety of the history of beer (in my humble opinion). The downstairs: Apparently they have bands down here, they didn't this night... but it was a proper looking porn-like lounge area with giant sofas and a good looking stage where you could definitely see some mediocre bands up really close before they sell out. Sometimes, not often, but sometimes, the bands play outside. Yes, I said it. The MFing outdoor garden: I have this friend, his name is Jack Johnson, maybe you've heard of him. Maybe (probably) you're sick of him because most of his songs sound alike. It's also pretty likely that you'd give anything for his life, I know I would. If I had minimal talent like him I would totally move to Hawaii, surf and sing songs about making pancakes for girls and playing my guitar all day while working on my tan in a hammock. But again, I digress - why don't you guys stop me when I do that? - The garden here looks like an old fashioned surf lounge where guys with long hair (rebels!) and tattoos (scandal!) sit with beers and talk about waves. Jack, would fit in here... and I could even stand to listen to Banana Pancakes (once, just once) while I am sitting on the couches with my feet up next to the lanterns LOVING my totally chill life. Worcester is a two thumbs up all you naysayers! So there.
