You get paid in a card you can use instantly afterwards like a master card or you can direct deposit the money to your bank card online by going to Northlane.com (thats the company that issues the card). Apart from the long waits at times, I have no complaints. I would really recommend donating platelets if you have the time. I believe it takes about 2-3hrs in total but you would really be helping cancer patients. I would really recommend calling and getting more information about donating blood or platelets as well as just make an appointment to just go donate. You could be saving someone in your own families life. You never know when or who will need the blood or platelets.
