They start calling patients for payment days before the service is even provided. It can feel a little pushy.

On July 4th, 2025, my brother was admitted to RWJBH presenting with a heart attack. He was seen on…read morethat day and it was unclear whether he had a heart attack according to the doctor who saw him on July 4. He was told he needed a heart MRI and that it would be scheduled but they didn't know when he would be taken for the heart MRI. The next day, July 5, we asked when it would be scheduled. The nurses said they didn't know because there was no one there who could perform it. On July 6, I begged again to get this done. Same response. July 7 late in the day, he finally got the MRI. On July 8 at 4:45 the MRI was still not read. I called the hospital customer satisfaction team and someone promptly handled this and it was read and he was released with medication prescriptions in 15 minutes. If I had not involved customer satisfaction, he would have had to stay yet another night. How can this be ethical? Five days with the room charge in excess of $20,000 per day not including other charges!!! An unnecessary number of days in the hospital because they didn't have the staff to conduct the MRI or read the MRI in a timely manner. He was not seen by a cardiologist after being seen on day 1 until his discharge. Additionally, there were issues in not notifying that a bill was rendered (online in a portal) and needed to be paid. Notification came in the mail 6 months later from an agency the hospital uses to collect payment. I had to request an itemized bill. I filed an appeal but was denied with the reason that based on his insurance, he was responsible for 40% (which we already knew and understood). Obviously the facts above were ignored and not addressed.

I say expected because everything is automated. You have many things to watch and read. When you go through the process they read it to you anyway to make sure you know what's going on. Everyone was nice and informative. You have to have nice and plump veins in order to donate. I was in and out. On your first couple of times being there they tell you to just cut the line. It's a courtesy. I spoke with someone was "in front of me" and they knew. However, everyone there is trying to make some money. Interesting experience. No trouble. Obviously no pictures because of their policy.

If they do let people know, It's on a piece of paper at the office but if you get out of work at 5 and you plan to get there at 6 because they close at 7, you won't know that until you arrive. The gas is already wasted, the time is already wasted. they close early on Saturdays around 2pm, but lately they have been closed in general on Saturdays. There are a lot of people who donate because they enjoy donating, but they also need the money. They are able to put out a notification on the CSL plasma app. They do that occasionally but nowhere near enough. The service is fast when Kevin is working, and Ten was really cool, but she left. There are definitely a few people here that are incredibly nice and take care of you fast and efficiently. The phlebotomist in the back are nice and fast. I never really have a problem. They just need to fix their hours and hire more employees.

A bloody good 1-hour experience! I've been donating blood since high school but always at blood…read moredrives where I sometimes feel rushed and never at a blood center. After answering some intake questions on a computer, I waited for about 5 minutes, then was seen by staff who checked my blood pressure and iron levels with a quick finger prick. I was then led to a reclining chair with a TV. Since a window was casting major glare, I couldn't really watch it. While you can donate platelets, plasma, and red blood cells here, they take around 2 hours each. Donating whole blood just takes 1 hour start to finish and my actual donation time was under 8 minutes for a pint. Afterwards, I had some crackers and apple juice they provided. Super friendly staff always made me feel safe and comfortable. A staff member actually gave me a whole bag of Oreos to take home for my kids. I'd definitely choose this place again. TIPS: **You can schedule an appointment online at http://www.nybloodcenter.org **Unisex bathroom **Plenty of parking in their shared lot in the back. You can enter through the back (main entrance). **Right next to Dancers Pointe and across the street from Allstate.

They seemed very put out and miserable like they didn't want to be there at all. Inattentive and non-communicative. They acted like they were annoyed that I was there. I feel like it stems from the manager of the site who always seems cranky. I'm a regular donor and I don't want to dissuade anyone from donating, but if you can, go to Vitalant. They are much friendlier and welcoming. I will continue to donate regularly but never again at the Scotch Plains site. Awful place.

In August 2023, 8mm stone in left ureter. When I had emergency visit in JFK (Edison, NJ) Hospital,…read morethey did not give me any pain killer medication since 5 hours even if my pain was 10 out of 10. I was kept lying for 5 hours without any treatment or medication even though I begged for so many times to call a doctor urgently. On 9/22/2023 - Urology doctor in JFK performed ureteroscopy (laser treatment). Doctor removed 80% of stone but safety guided wire was broken inside my body. Stone sample was never sent to lab for analysis. I asked about stone report multiple times but JFK hospital had no answer. On 9/23/2023 - Radiology intervention doctor in JFK performed surgery from back of kidney and removed wire and placed the nephrostomy tube, stent and nephrostomy bag inside through outside of my body. On 9/24/2023 - I was discharged with nephrostomy tube, stent and nephrostomy bag On 9/27/2023 - Urologist removed nephrostomy bag and clamped the tube from back side of my body. On 10/23/2023 - Radiology intervention in JFK performed Nephrostogram, removed tube and placed another stent in ureter as narrowing observed in ureter. I requested to have Urology doctor to be present during this procedure but nobody in JFK accepted my request. Procedure was extremely painful. I was in sever pain on the OT bed and nurse could not give me pain killer since they have not prepared me for IV and it was too late. There was NO precaution taken before this procedure to make sure there won't be any infection due to this procedure. Because of this, I was admitted to the emergency in JFK just right after my procedure because of infection and chest pain. On 10/24/2023 - Urinary infection treatment started in JFK with higher dosage of antibiotics. Urine culture was positive while blood culture was negative. On 10/26/2023 - JFK hospital staff were planning to discharge me with PICC line IV at home so I can continue rest of antibiotics through IV by myself at home but I opposed this since I was so much scared of having another foreign object inside my body. After so much discussion, they agreed to keep me in hospital for 2 more days until I am stable to go home with oral medications. On 10/28/2023 - JFK discharged me with oral antibiotics On 2/11/2023 - I visited another hospital in New York as I was so much scared about JFK treatments. On 15/11/2023 - Doctor in New York hospital treated me well and they did another surgical procedure to wider my ureter with all precautions. I was discharged on the same day with stent in ureter but without any infection. During this procedure, doctor found that piece of stone is still there in ureter and he removed it safely. On 7/12/2023 - Doctor in New York hospital removed stent safely and I was discharged. I still have back pain due to so many surgical procedures. I still have pain when I urinate. I have a black spots (which were not there before) on my back due to this surgery. And I still need to follow up with doctor for ultrasound in few months. There are multiple places (below mentioned) where JFK hospital failed to provide me correct and careful treatment and I had to suffer a lot (physically, professionally, mentally, emotionally) due to this. Broken wire left inside my body, New York doctor found that stone was not removed 100%, Urology doctor was not present during Nephrostogram even if requested, Precaution was not taken before Nephrostogram which caused heavier infection, proper pain medication was not given during painful Nephrostogram procedure caused chest pain and admitted to emergency right after procedure. When I escalated to JFK management, they don't have anything to offer to me apart from saying "sorry".

All the reviews are true. The doctor is expert she knows everything and she was toxicologist and expert. Ask her to sample the blood to over ride her of expertise because she said I know that you are intoxicated she refused. They laugh at people and disregard your feelings. She denied me a test and was unprofessional. Really didn't care but these phlebotomist judged hard and hurt my feelings. I am super hyper she thought she knew everything she put a light on my eyes and said I was intoxicated, which was not the case. Do not go there. They are more than scum of the Earth. Probably about six out of eight of them that worked there on February 23, 2024. I do understand it's a cash business that they pay out so they might be a little scared. I do it because I study and donate blood at the same time. They will waste your time and they think it's funny. I asked her for the test to prove her wrong. She just sat there because she knew she wanted to feel right for the day and not do her job professionally because she likes to to be prejudice which is the only word here. Do not give care to much and I peaked through the back. I noticed that there was maybe like three people that were back there and they did not want to do the job, but sit back in the back office and talk very uneducated, absolutely did not want to work. I swear there was five of them in the back room peeking out to see if someone was in line, I run a business myself I've never encountered the laziest employees in my life go to American Cross Blood donor in Levittown, PA. I'll go there the wasted time I can t get back for what I can tell you is they are prejudice thinking that people are something they have no because they are not toxicologist or a DUI specialist or anything. I cannot stress enough, but I say lazy. Can you imagine what people are they surround and eat all the time and they don't burn energy to you can deduce just like I did in a nice way so mean man whiny complain you don't have to listen to me but if you think they're giving you an attitude they're playing the whole time and the biggest scam is after the two hours is just about when they're gonna get you in the back they tell you in the doctors office that they can't and they make you wait too long hours and sit there with a straight face and they almost laugh she wasn't good enoughand tell you to leave and defer you not to come back for 30 days they get off on it sick man because some people do it and they need to pay their bills and they're messing with their lives.
