We have been coming to Drummond Island fishing for years and have stayed at various places. Lake…read moreView is by far our absolute favorite place to stay. Owners Steve and Karen are warm and accommodating. The cabins are clean and kitchens equipped. Easy access for putting your boat in and out with their ramp. There is dock space for a week or over night stay. I've taken many sunrise and sunset pictures from the dock area and enjoy the view from the cabin. The location is convenient for grocery shopping, buying bait and the other stores on the Island.

But you can't see a sunrise or sunset. But still, it's nice to look out at. There's a boat dock for tiny two people fishing boats. There's no swimming. No pool. No beach access. The cabins smell so bring Febreeze. They have dishes and items you can use. Bring ice. They provide clean, comfortable beds and linens, towels, etc. You may need bug spray to get rid of ants. There's a picnic table and a grill. The owners are really nice. It's a good location along that bay, next to almost every other resort/cabin/motel like place. It is CASH only for the rental which is due upon checking in. Phone signal is spotty. Upgrade your cell service so that you are not charged for roaming-turn off roaming. Get unlimited text. The phone company will think you are in Canada. On the far east side, there's no signal. About $85 for a small cabin.

I came here to play golf, but unfortunately, this turned into a very disappointing experience…read more On the first nine, I became extremely sick after starting my round. The golf cart I was given was producing a very strong exhaust/gas smell and fumes, and I strongly suspect that contributed to how sick I became. I have worked at and managed golf courses and clubs in the past, so I understand that carts can have mechanical issues, and when something clearly isn't right, it should be taken seriously. When I initially checked in at the pro shop, the woman working there told me she would be leaving shortly after I started and that there would not be another staff member available. I ended up cutting my round short and didn't play the back nine--I essentially just drove through. I came back the following week to discuss what happened. I was told that they do not offer refunds. A few days later, I spoke with the golf pro, but unfortunately, I found him very dismissive. His response was essentially, "I don't know what you want.. I have complaints of loose bolts and tires and linkages, but I've never had exhaust issues or complaints." I explained that I wasn't looking for a rain check because, after that experience, I had no desire to come back and finish the round. I then asked to speak with the resort manager, who eventually called me. I explained the entire situation, and again, I was told that they do not provide refunds. He asked if I was still on the island and whether I would want to come back and play the rest of the round. I explained that I did not because it was simply not a good experience and I had gotten sick. What really bothered me was that the conversation then shifted toward questioning whether I had gotten sick from something I had eaten or drank. I was told that the carts are driven every day and that nobody has ever had an issue like this. The manager even suggested that food poisoning could take several hours to set in and asked what I had eaten. I explained that I don't drink while golfing and that earlier that day, I had only eaten a banana and had a bottle of water. Despite that, the conversation continued to focus on the possibility that the problem was something I had consumed rather than acknowledging that there could have been an issue with the cart. I wasn't necessarily looking for a refund. I mainly wanted the resort to understand how I felt I was treated and to take the situation seriously. Instead, I left feeling like the responsibility was being placed back on me. There were other issues as well. The pro shop had a very unpleasant smell, and I waited close to 20 minutes for someone to come and get me checked in and started on my round. I was also told that they would give me a discount because of the wait. I told them they didn't have to, but I appreciated the gesture. I was never actually given a discount. Coming from someone who has worked in and managed golf courses and resorts, I'm honestly shocked by how this situation was handled. Things happen--carts can have mechanical problems, customers can have bad experiences--but what matters is how you respond and take care of the customer afterward. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I won't be returning. I'm very disappointed with how the situation was handled and with the overall level of customer service and professionalism I experienced.

We didn't expect much, but the views were nice. The furniture is dusty and we avoided sitting in it. The "full" size beds were comfortable enough and didn't smell, but were very small. My wife and I had to sleep in separate beds. There were also no power outlets anywhere but in the kitchen/dining area so I had trouble with my CPAP machine and needed to do some maneuvering to make it work. Not a deal breaker but it made it difficult. We didn't bother using the kitchen as we weren't sure anything would be clean enough from previous renters. We had brought our own propane camp stove and cooked on that. This also helped us with cleanup though as no dishes needed to be cleaned. The public shower (only one), at least for the men, was very rudimentary and the hot and cold water knobs are reversed. If you camp here, bring shower shoes. The men's side does not lock and when you open the main door, the breeze opens the men's side door which could be awkward with small children or women. My wife mentioned that the women's side had a lock. This place boasts Free WiFi, but you cannot get WiFi in or around the cabins. We had to drive and sit outside the main office in our vehicle to get any access at the beginning and end of each day and the speed was very slow. But we understood that as it's a remote island. The Cafe, which we hoped to use a great deal, was closed the entire time we visited, but we assume this is due to staffing shortages so we didn't fault Yacht Haven for this. It's unfortunate that it's happening everywhere. There are plenty of spots on the island to get a nice cup of coffee and some quick breakfast. The staff were kind as well. The cleaning lady was pleasant and the office staff answered all of my island based questions. All of the negative things can be fixed with some small attention, so I'm still giving this place a solid 3 stars, since we just used it to lay our heads after several long days of off-roading. A bit better cleaning, some quick plumbing work, and electrical updates, a men's shower room lock and some WiFi boosters would make it 4 stars if not more.
